I admit, I never really played any of the Kirby games as a kid, but Kirby in Super Smash Bros. was totally my jam. There’s nothing more annoying than being constantly inhaled and spat out by a Kirby player that has no idea what they’re doing but mashes buttons enough to make this the only move they know. That player is me. Thankfully, George Kirby ($7,800) is more than a button masher, he knows what he’s doing out there. We love the 8.3 K/9 but we stay for the 1.2 BB/9. That difference of 7 means Kirby is a stud and usable in most match-ups. I was all over him Monday against Baltimore and he got crushed, but let’s have a short memory and hope everyone else is scared off our guy, shall we? I mean, Baltimore has a .078 higher team OPS compared to the last place A’s who are repping an abysmal .600 team OPS. This sets up so well for Kirby I may inhale a few Maxim Tomatoes to celebrate.

Spencer Strider, SP: DK: $8,200 – I have edited enough of Blair and Hoove’s top starting pitcher posts to know all about Spencer Strider’s metrics. Plus, I’m a Braves fan and love the dude. Strider is ideal for DFS as that strikeout variance is huge. Great American Ballpark is not ideal, the Reds have the third-highest team OPS at home, but Strider has the stuff to overcome that. Let everyone else fade him while we reap the rewards…we hope.
Jose Urquidy, SP: DK: $7,300 – I think of this tweet from last year all the time when it comes to the Angels:

Yes, that’s from last year, but it could be from any time, even today. Urquidy becomes the next in line to beat the Angels while they do something amazing and I like the price.
MJ Melendez, C/OF: DK: $4,400 – I am all for an underrated Royals stack today. Ol’ Beau Brieske is perfect material to pick on with his 5.59 FIP, paltry 6.1 K/9, and lovely 2.8 BB/9. That’s all bad for Beau and all wonderful for the Royals.
Vinnie Pasquantino, 1B: DK: $2,500 – Vinnie Paz has been a popular option this week for the DFS crew. A pure hitter for near min price will do that. MJ and Vinnie are a winning combo today. Must be the Design in Malice…that’s the real stuff right there.
Jon Berti, 2B/3B: DK: $4,000 – With Jazz IL’d, Berti is manning second, leading off, and stealing ALL THE BASES. Seriously, all the bases are belong to Berti and at 5 points a pop on DK, that’s nothing to scoff at. Berti should see plenty of bases vs Jackson Tetreault.
Luis Urias, 2B/3B: DK: $2,800 – Really just a price play here for a guy with 3 dingers in the past 4 games, he’s red hot and this is just too cheap.
Jeremy Pena, SS: DK: $4,500 – SS is so stacked, it’s silly, there are a number of great choices here, but I tend to look to save a little cash if possible and Pena is the cheapest of the elite options. Patrick Sandoval isn’t an ideal match-up, but righties are slugging .340 off him, so Pena has that going for him, which is nice.
Juan Yepez, OF: DK: $3,800 – Getting hot again and still decently priced, there are plenty of great top options, but we’re here for a little value play.
Jesus Sanchez, OF: DK: $3,500 – When I dream, I dream of Jon Berti singles, stealing second and Jesus Sanchez homering him around…my therapist says it shows the need for more stability in my life…she just doesn’t understand I’m trying to win a GPP here.

Braves and Mariners are the two biggest favorites today, which makes me giddy(er) for Kirby and Strider. Kirby has the added bonus of the lowest over/under at 7.5. Vegas predicts STL@PHI to be a bit of a blood bath with a 9.5 total, perhaps I should have added a few more picks from this game, you have been advised.
