It is Thursday, July 14th and we are fortunate to have a large, 11-game slate on FanDuel. Typically Thursdays are filled with day games, off days, and just a few night games. We have several really good pitchers going tonight along with several gas cans as well. It makes for a fun DFS slate when we have many pitchers to consider rostering and many we can also target. I am most interested in seeing how the red-hot Freddie Freeman and the Dodgers fare against Dakota Hudson and the Cardinals. Also, I am excited to see the pitching matchup between Corbin Burnes and Carlos Rodon. For more, read below!

Kevin Gausman, SP: $10,100 – Gausman is facing the lowly Royals tonight. He has a 3.06 SIERA (2nd best tonight), a 27% strikeout rate (4th best tonight), and a 4.3% walk rate (2nd best tonight). Gausman is coming off an ankle injury. There is a risk here that he is not 100% healthy, but according to Gausman he is “ready to go”.

Carlos Carrasco, SP: $8,900 – There are 11 other pitchers on the slate more expensive than Carrasco but he is probably better than the 12th best pitcher on the slate. He has a 3.59 SIERA (8th best on the slate) and a 23.7% strikeout rate (8th best). He is facing the Cubs at Wrigley with the wind likely to be blowing in. Carrasco is a good pitcher to consider for his price.

Alejandro Kirk, C/1B: $2,900 – I do not recommend catchers often but Kirk could bat clean-up against Carlos Hernandez tonight. Hernandez had been pitching in the minors most recently. With 10 of the 25 players on the Royals 25 man roster unable to play in Canada this series, the Royals are going to rely on minor leaguers this series. Hernandez has a career 5.30 xFIP, including 6.27 in the seven starts he has made in the majors this season. After Hernandez leaves the game, the Royals have arguably the worst bullpen in the league backing him up. Toronto should score a lot and taking the guy with the .398 OBP at sub-$3K seems like a smart move.

Freddie Freeman, C/1B: $3,900 – Typically C/1B is more of a value position, but if you are looking to spend up Freddie Freeman could be a good one to consider. Dakota Hudson has the highest SIERA on the slate at 5.18 and just a 2.4% K-BB% this season. Freeman has three home runs, a .472 wOBA, and a .292 ISO in the last two weeks.

Marcus Semien, 2B: $3,700 – Marco Gonzales has a 5.17 SIERA and a 4.2% K-BB% this season. Semien has a .347 wOBA and .212 ISO against LHP. He should be batting leadoff in a game where Texas should score a lot.

Matt Chapman, 3B: $2,700 – Yes he is going to bat most likely in the bottom half of the order but Chapman at $2,700 is too cheap in a spot like this. Toronto could score 10 or more runs tonight.

Jeremy Pena, SS: $3,400 – He has a .367 wOBA and .250 ISO against LHP this season

Dylan Carlson, OF: $2,400 – Tyler Anderson is a good pitcher but Carlson is cheap and he has a .405 wOBA with a .207 ISO against LHP this season.

Max Kepler, OF: $2,700 – The Twins are implied for 4.8 runs and Kepler is likely to bat clean-up tonight against Johnny Cueto. Kepler has a .344 wOBA and .173 ISO against RHP this season.
