I could not have been more wrong last week on the Texas Rangers stack against Trevor Williams. Hand up, that’s on me. We’ll be better this week. We’re going to start with some fantastic value here in Jordan Hicks at only $6,800. The only cause for hesitation is that he’s playing at Coors Field. On the flip side, he’s playing the Colorado Rockies and they were just shut out by Kyle Harrison and company. Hicks has yet to give up more than 2 earned runs in any start. In this one, we’re going to have to hope he keeps the walks down and the ball in the park.  We might be able to find a stack for this one but expecting to see a mixture of guys for this Wednesday evening slate on DraftKings. The games start at 6:40pm EST.

Kyle Bradish, SP: $8,400 – Kyle Bradish had a solid outing against the Yankees in this first start of the season May 2nd. He threw 84 pitches in 4.2 innings, striking out 5 and giving up 1 run. It would be expected for him to have a similar workload in this one. Long-term the injury to Bradish does not seem ideal, but for a one game start against the Nats (wait, they’re .500!?) we’ll ride with him as our number 2.

Christian Walker, 1B: $4,600 – 1B feels somewhat light in this one (besides Matt Olson), so we think Walker is worth the price here. Ashcraft is no slouch on the mound, but he has given up 5 earned runs in 2 of his 6 starts. Walker can hit for power, as evidenced by his 7 homeruns this year, and he also has plenty of opportunities to drive in runs. Walker anchors the lineup here and hoping for a big day.

Jorge Polanco, 2B: $3,800 – There is very little analysis behind this one other than Polanco is playing against his former team and has to be dying to have a break-out game for his new squad. He’s cooled off a bit since last week, but Paddack can be hit-or-miss, so we’ll always side with the miss and hope Polanco has an offensive explosion.

Oswaldo Cabrera, 3B: $3,600 – Cabrera put up 24 points for us last week (basically the only bright spot) and we’re going to ride him into the money this week as well. I’m going to repeat most of what was said last week. He is a great medium risk-high reward type of pick. He averages 6.5 FPPG, which is decent given his price point. He’s matched up with Spencer Arrighetti of the Astros and he sports an 8.27 ERA coming into this one. Will Oswaldo come through for us again?

Elly De La Cruz, SS: $6,100 – Is Elly cost effective? Not particularly. However, he’s electric at the plate and on the basepaths. He’s on a bit of a cold spell the last 3 games where he only has 2 points, but he only needs to get on base to tack on a steal and a run. He does that a couple of times and he’s well worth the cost.  Oh yeah, he hits for power too. Let’s take Elly here and enjoy the ride against and up-and-down Jordan Montgomery.

Joc Pederson, OF: $4,000 – Joc is by no means the flashiest player available, but he has some upside. Remember, Ashcraft is susceptible to giving up runs and Pederson can be one that delivers the damage. He’s hitting .295 with a .925 OPS this season while averages just under 6 FPPG. He’s not hitting for too much power, but he did have one Sunday against the Padres. Looking back at his recent fantasy output, Joc puts up plenty of 6-12 point performances with an occasional 0 mixed in. Stay confident we end up on the high end here.

Aaron Judge, OF: $5,900 – Uh oh, did the league let Aaron Judge get hot? His past 4 games have had fantasy points of 12, 14, 21, and 11. He’s a threat to go deep every time he comes to the plate. We said before, Arrighetti’s ERA is sky-high, and wind is blowing out. Might be the most confident hitter pick of the slate.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

Might get some rain in the D-backs/Reds game, so be ready to pivot on Walker, Elly, and Joc if needed. There are plenty of other options out there if rain causes concern. This isn’t weather related, but we stayed away from the Rockies obviously since we had Jordan Hicks as our premier pick. IF you care to fade Hicks, then you can insert some Rockies.

Doing Lines In Vegas

The D-backs/Reds, Astros/Yankees, and Orioles/Nationals all have an over/under of 9. There will be plenty of runs scored this evening, here’s hoping we picked the right squad. The Orioles are -170 in this one so there is plenty of confidence in the Orioles offense as well as Kyle Bradish.
