Did you know they still play baseball on bad teams, and their stats count just as much?  Didn’t think so.  I wouldn’t blame you for avoiding all things White Sox for this season, or Marlins, or any of the 6 or so teams that have already tanked.  That’s why you come here!

Here are some featured guys who have been nails the past week or month, and then a blurbski about what I think.

Andrew Vaughn G PA AB H R HR RBI SB CS BB SO BB% K% AVG OBP SLG OPS BABIP $

Will Andrew drag me back in?  Am I going to the darkside again and going to recommend Vaughn?  Nah.  He is on a bit of a heater, but if you look at that pesky BABIP column I’m going to just say he’s hit a hot streak.  I think he might be league average going forward, but expecting more than that from this guy, who never has been a great option, is not my style.

Gavin Sheets G PA ABH H R HR RBI AVG OBP SLG OPS BABIP$ money!!!!

I can actually get behind Sheets as a corner infield option with outfield eligibility.  He’s going to have a solidly league average BA around .240 but some extra pop and slug added in.  Maybe, just maybe, the White Sox aren’t the worst team in history and if they aren’t Sheets would be a big reason why.

Another hot hitting White Stocking is Lenin Sosa.  I thought communists were supposed to share with other people, right?  Lenin, let some other guys hit!  Redistribute your wealth of BABIP would you?  Ah, yes.  Well, his scouting report is coming up as a possible utility guy, so basically, I just put him in here for my bad jokes.  Move along.

Some more blurbs without the tables.  Just words:

Jeimer Candelario has somewhat quietly turned his season around.  He’s a good add, will continue to be at around .240 with some pop (5 HR the past 30 days, that’s like a 30 HR pace!).  The Reds have been sneakily on fire lately after a brutal beginning of the year schedule and Jeimer would be a fine guy to add if he’s available.

Gunnar Henderson as the 3rd, 4th, and 12th best months in his three months this season.  Appreciate.  Next year, draft in the first round.

If you take out a five game stretch where Michael Busch hit a HR in each of them, Buschie only has 3 HR on the season.  His OBP the past month is over .400, so it’s not the eye.  He just seems to not be hitting the ball hard.  His bat speed is in the bottom fifth of the league.  His exit velocity is in the bottom half.  I’m not sold on Busch as a reliable contributor for this season, and would look to cash in on “look, good power and approach” instead of “Yikes, this guy’s not hitting it hard, far, or consistently.  As they say, a snake in the hand is better than one in the Busch.  Wait, nobody says that.  Well, you get the point I hope.

Royce Lewis is back, and hitting dingers.  He’s already hit more than Austin Riley on the season in just 21 at bats.  He’s a risk tolerance guy, so decide your risk tolerance and how long he’ll play until the next injury strikes.  I’m trying to get him in my struggling home team for the upside;  if you are doing well though you could easily cash him in.

I know it’s short, but your time is valuable and now you have more time.  Have a great week and thanks for reading.
