It’s the most intimidating and scariest time of the year in a dynasty offseason: free agency. Am I overvaluing guys? Am I missing out by being too cheap? How do I even bid?

Kelder does have a first name but only his Mom uses it. He's been playing fantasy sports since before the internet had sites to do it. Not a member of any important organization but he thinks he's super funny! When not consuming baseball, he enjoys church coffee and food in larger quantities than his doctor would like.

Please, blog, may I have some more?I got a trade vetoed by the trade committee.
I traded Bret Baty for two prospects, Jefferson Rojas and Haydn McGeary. I was selling low on Baty, and buying a couple of prospects that I thought would breakout this year. The trade was vetoed, and I’m totally fine with it. I fully expected to have some minor hiccups like this along the way and that’s why there’s a trade committee in the first place.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Having worked in a school for 25 years or more (hard to count) or as I usually say since the 90s, it’s safe to say that every person, every human being has a quirk or 7. My personal quirk is that if I step on a crack like in a sidewalk, or like on a […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?I was a history major in college. This was a terribly poor decision. I realized after my first year in history/secondary education that I did not really enjoy history. I was gonna be a coach. My only A’s in college were coaching classes. Why did I think that history was interesting? Who would ever read stuff like that just for the fun of it?
As I’ve grown older, I realized that there is some history that I enjoy. I just don’t enjoy ALL of it. It’s all good, I was only a Social Studies teacher for two years before I took a different type of position. The lesson is to never listen to your parents, I guess.
For a time, I felt the same about dynasty baseball leagues.
Please, blog, may I have some more? When I left off, I was checking my team and deciding what to do with it. Let’s go into some rules and history from this league and I’ll try to explain what I think I have to do. The first thing a deep 30 team dynasty has to have is the salary cap, right? If […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? What have I done? I went ahead and joined a 30 team dynasty, complete with contracts, prospects, rule 5 draft, salary cap, the works. Pretty much this league is as close to a real MLB GM experience as you can have. Why did I do this? Well, I thought it would be fun, and would […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? One thing I really enjoyed about my high school was the ability to drive off campus to go get lunch. Wait, we technically weren’t allowed to drive but everyone did. For a glorious 40 minutes, we were all around the town, not doing anything wrong, like ever. Best Buy was at times a shop. For […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? Some things in life seem like they should be easy. Maintaining a healthy diet and weight. Picking up a kid and throwing them in a pool without your shoulders being sore. Driving and texting (which obviously is a joke and don’t do it). Ranking baseballers accurately isn’t an exact science, and predicting things is hard […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Okay, fine I get it. Baseball is almost done, and unless you are competing for a ‘ship, you’re probably not worried about late-season hot and cold streaks and if Spencer Torkelson will run into a five HR week, right? I do hope you all have happy endings and are satisfied with your seasons. Or at […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?September is here, and Labor Day has past. What does this mean for people like me living in Eastern NC? Hurricane season. I moved here in 1999 which if you pay attention to such things, and you probably don’t unless you are on a coast (no reason to pay attention to hurricanes in Nebraska) I […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Click. That’s not a sound that you want your truck to make when you turn the key. Perhaps the doors not unlocking was a clue. Maybe I should have noticed the radio didn’t work, or the darkened dome lights. The Educator had been beset by some sort of battery issue. I live in Eastern NC, […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Five weeks left. I’m back in my day job, and writing now to find some guys who are diamonds that you might think are coal, or at the least cubic zirconia. Season stats have somewhat crystalized, to continue with the rock theme. There are, however, some gems to mine who can help if you look […]
