It was 17 years ago that Virginia rapper Fam-Lay hopped on Clipse’s debut album Lord Willin’ and spit a fire verse on the seventh track. Today, Rays outfielder Tommy Pham ($3,200) is in a spot where he can perform just as well as Fam-Lay, batting second against Ervin Santana. The 36-year-old Santana is making his first start of the year and is projected for a 5.49 ERA by Steamer. Tampa’s lineup should have a big day against him, so Pham will be in a spot to score runs out of the two-hole. He’s already got five steals this year and is worth a look in all contests at this price.

Jacob deGrom, SP: $12,200 – There is an embarrassment of riches at starting pitcher today, with plenty of aces to choose from. But as far as I’m concerned, if you’re going to spend big on a pitcher, you should go all in with deGrom. He’s got 24 strikeouts through 13 scoreless innings, which is stupid good, in case you needed more evidence that he’s the best pitcher you can pick.
Luis Castillo, SP: $8,700 – Castillo has also been shoving through his first two starts, with a 1.42 ERA and a 34.7% K-rate so far. He gets a cakewalk matchup against the Marlins, who have the highest strikeout rate in the league against right-handed pitching at 30.3%.
Joey Votto, 1B: $3,800 – Marlins starter Jose Urena has gotten shelled in both of his outings this year, and will likely face the same fate against the Reds. Cincinnati should score plenty of runs in their hitter-friendly park, so Votto is a strong cash game play as their two-hitter.
Mike Moustakas, 2B: $3,100 – Moose homered last night, and could repeat tonight versus Matt Harvey, who had a 1.57 HR/9 last year and gave up eight runs in his last start. Moustakas should be targeted in GPP tournaments, as this price is very low for his power upside.
Josh Donaldson, 3B: $3,800 – This is an incredibly low price for a Coors Field bat. Yes, even against German Marquez.
Matt Chapman, 3B: $3,500 – Donaldson is a chalky play, so Chapman is another third baseman to target. He faces John Means, who I’m not entirely sure is a real person, in an extreme hitter’s park in Baltimore.
Joc Pederson, OF: $3,100 – What more does Pederson need to do to get a price raise? I mean, I’m not arguing against getting the leadoff hitter for the hottest lineup in baseball, who has a .967 OPS, for just $3,100.
Andrew Benintendi, OF: $3,800 – Benintendi has lots of DFS value as the Red Sox leadoff hitter, where he will have plenty of chances to produce. Look for him in cash games.
Mallex Smith, OF: $3,600 – Smith is another leadoff hitter to target, and he’s someone that can score you points on the basepaths.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
No rain to worry about, which is rare this early in the season. The wind is blowing out in CLE-DET and SD-SF, which will favor hitters.
