Nice work Mike. Just a head’s up, Devon Travis has been traded to the Jays and *might* be on the fast track to starting in Toronto.
Thanks Brett! Should be updated now…
I know the conventional wisdom is how crappy the Angels farm system is. Off the top of my head, it has recently produced Mike Trout, Kole Calhoun, Garrett Richards, Matt Shoemaker, and C.J. Cron. There are many others who have been traded for major league talent, including most recently H. Street. I think the biggest problem with LAA is not the farm system, but the crappy signings of Josh Hamilton, C.J. Wilson, Pujols, Blanton, etc. Minor league depth is over-rated if you can’t bring it up, or trade it for upgrades.
Yeah, I agree. I mean it’s not a good farm, but the big league club is trying to win now. They hadn’t had a first round pick in a couple years before taking Newcomb so that didn’t do the farm any favors. Add in the trades and the fact that Cowart hasn’t really panned out and you’ve got one of the weaker systems. Like you said though, they’ve used it to trade from to fill needs and obviously the names you mentioned have developed to help them now as a contender.
Yo Mike, received an interesting offer today in my 50 man, 15 team cbs dynasty. I trade hanley for johnny peralta and joey gallo. Keep Hanley?
I would stick with Hanley if you are going to be competitive this season.
