Don't be shellfish...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

Chase Utley will make his first start of the year on Monday in the Phillies’ 47th game of the season.  If only the Yanks would lend out Suzyn Waldman for the occasion…Oh my goodness gracious!…Of all the dramatic things I’ve ever seen!  For those of you who carried Utley on your DL since Opening Day, congratulations.  The word is that Utley’s knee feels okay.  I’ll put the over/under at 90 games for the rest of the regular season.  I wouldn’t expect classic Utley this year (as in .300/30/110/15).  I think he’s going to look a lot more like last year’s Utley (511/75/16/65/13) for the rest of his career – minus a couple of SBs.  Second basemen don’t age gracefully and he’s 33 with a bad knee.  If someone will trade a top 50 player for him, take it.

Other fantasy baseball news…..

Asdrubal Cabrera – 5 for 5 with 2 HRs and 5 RBIs.  He’s now at .302/32/9/32/6.  He managed only 9 HRs over 900 ABs in 2009-2010.  Where’d all this power come from?  Is he that mad the Indians picked up another Cabrera and he had to add an “A.” to his jersey?  If that’s the case, the Indians will win the World Series if they could just find an Orlando-Soo Choo and Orlando Santana to add to the roster.

Felix Hernandez – F-Her has been just so-so this year – paling in comparison to other AL starters who have the luxury of facing the Mariners.  Luckily, the schedule rewarded him with a start at Petco against a Padres offense that fell back to reality (5 runs in last 5 games).  Given all that, it’s not so surprising that F-Her went 8 IP, 1 ER, and 13 Ks.   The surprising part is that the Mariners supported him enough to give the win.

James Shields – A 3-hit shutout over the Marlins with 13 Ks.  He’s now K’d 7 or more in 6 of his last 7 starts and is second to F-Her for the K lead in the AL.  He’s got a bright future ahead of him.  And when it doesn’t look bright anymore, I’m sure the Rays will just trade him to the Angels.

Rick Porcello – One hit the Pirates over 8 scoreless innings.  He’s rocking a 3.08 ERA now over almost 50 IP.  I have a feeling that ERA is going to mushroom over the next 50 IP unless he starts K-ing more people (5.5 K/9).

Marlon Byrd – On the 15-day DL after an Alfredo Aceves  pitch broke his face.  Lucky this game wasn’t in Toronto or Aceves would’ve been arrested for hitting a Byrd.  In all seriousness, hope Marlon is doing okay.  Some players don’t come back the same or have subsequent sight issues from an injury like this (see Dickie Thon and Tony Conigliaro).  Two uplifting cases are Ron Santo who came back from a broken cheekbone in 1966 to resume his HOF-quality career and Willie McGee whom I presume took multiple pitches to the face yet persevered and had over 2,000 hits in his career.

Fernando Salas – He’s gotten the last 4 saves for the Cardinals.  When asked by the press if he’d named Salas the closer, LaRussa replied, “Why does he need another name?  Fernando is a great name.  It’s my favorite ABBA song.”  The beat writers laughed because they thought it was Kyle Lohse performing another LaRussa impression.  Little did they know that LaRussa has already swapped in 4 relief pitchers as his stand-in over the last week.

Jason Heyward – Off to the DL with a sore shoulder.  He’ll be replaced by Eric Hinske and Joe Mather.  That’s like replacing Hank Aaron with Hank Azaria.

Nate McLouth – Left Sunday’s game early with an oblique injury.  No word yet if he’s going on the DL but….really, when does someone injure their oblique and not go on the DL?  Really, Nate McLouth, do you have some sort of oxygen chamber that can heal obliques?  In any case, McLouth has cooled off (4 for last 32) after showing some signs of life in early May.  I’d McLose him from just about any team outside of super deep leagues.

Edinson Volquez – 2.2 IP, 6 ER, 11 baserunners against the Indians.  Guess he knows how Custer felt.  A real letdown for all those (including me) who got excited by his previous start (6 IP, 3 ER, 9 Ks).  In 10 starts this year, he’s failed to pitch more than 6 innings and has only two games where he’s given up either less than 3 walks or less than 3 ER.  We don’t even start him in our NL-only league – if you’ve got him in a 12-team mixed league, Ay Dios Mio, drop him already.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia – HR’d both Friday and Sunday.  He’s hitting over .300 in his past 10 games.  Who’s ready to jump on the Salty bandwagon?  Yeah, me neither.  I’m as confident in him as I’m confident in David Ortiz being able to spell his last name.

Albert Pujols – He’s now gone 100 ABs since his last HR.  I may be off by a couple but I think Jose Bautista has hit 700 HRs during that time.

Juan Miranda – 1 HR and 4 RBIs over the weekend and Russell Branyan got DFA’d.  Those are two Miranda rights.  But he got hit on the wrist with a pitch in the 8th.  That’s the type of wrong that can ans will be used against him in the court of fantasy baseball.  If the injury is minor, Miranda suffices as CI or UTIL filler as he should start most of the time (with Nady getting a couple starts a week).  If he’s hurt, maybe we see Brandon Allen!

Gio Gonzalez – What’s the difference between Gia and Gio?  Both are sexy but Gio is a lot more predictable.  In his last 4 starts, he’s pitched between 6 2/3 to 7 innings, 0-2 ERs, and 6-8 Ks.  Now if he could only control pitches (over 4 BB/9) as well as he could control the weather.

Brian Fuentes – Lost his 6th (!) game of the year on Sunday when he gave up a run in extra innings.  Yet he only has 2 blown saves.  He might have a shot at 20 losses if they let him focus on Kazaams when Bailey comes back.

Javier Vazquez – Grey and I drafted this schmohawk on 3 teams this year – including our 13-team NL LABR team.  In that league, you cannot bench a player that you drafted unless they are sent to the minors or the DL.  So we had to suffer through 8 horrible starts, one more awful than the next.  If our ERA/WHIP was in a Lifetime movie, it would be huddled in the back corner of a shower.  We’re praying that the Marlins just put him on the Disgraceful List just like the Red Sox did with Dice-K and Lackey.  Nope.  The Marlins believe in him and he’s supposedly healthy.  Next start against Tampa.  Jeez, we think, if the NL is crushing him – imagine an AL East team?  Since we can’t bench him, we have no recourse but to drop him.  So what does the bastard do?  Goes 7 shutout innings and strikes out 7.  The bastard hadn’t topped 6 IP, 5 Ks, or less than 3 ERs all year!  Our only solace will be if someone else in the league picks him up this week because of this start and he starts turding all over their ERA/WHIP.

    Yeah you gotta hate that. Some hamandegger screws your ERA and WHIP every time, and then finally you drop him and he throws his one good outing of the year. That’s what happened with me and Dumpster and Bedard… lol. I have them both back though, since no one wanted them.

    Only thing worse is a player that you think will break out every year, which does not happen until you finally give up and let another team draft him. Here’s lookin’ at you, rickie weeks.

    I drafted Dumpster, Bedard, and Volquez this year. Woo wee. And my other two SPs were Latos and Oswalt… Even managed to get several stinkers from waiver pickups. The Astros offense did a number on me.

    This is a continuation of my questioning to Grey last night re: me having Lind, Heyward, and Strasburg on the DL and my league only has 2 DL spots available. The reason I’ve still got Stras is because we do offseason trades. If nothing else, he’ll hold some value there and I could deal him for draft picks or package him with someone else for a keeper. My question is whether or not I drop Strasburg and pick up a replacement bat. I can plug Morrison into Heyward’s spot, but I don’t have any more bench bats available. That being said, do you hang onto him, or drop him? If I’m dropping, who’s the pickup:

    Gordon, Frenchy, Gardner, Maybin, Delmon, Tabata, Damon, R. Roberts, Bourn, Brantley, Abreu, Espinosa?

  22. ThePoonTycoon says:
    (link)

    @Wilsonian: is this the 8 team league? if you are leaving a lineup spot empty until lind or heyward returns, i think you gotta drop strasburg. if you’d just be picking up a bench bat to rotate in on short schedule days, i might just stay put.

    fwiw, unless yall keep most/all of your roster or strasburg would be kept at like a 20+ round value, i don’t know if strasburg would even have much trade value in the offseason.

  24. Mr2Bits says:

    Is Jeff Wilpon trying to destroy the Mets. This dude wakes up this morning and decides to insult the two best players on the team. What a fucking moron.

    Mets chairman Jeff Wilpon opined recently that Jose Reyes won’t be getting a Carl Crawford-like contract.
    Crawford inked a seven-year, $142 million mega-deal with the Red Sox this winter and Reyes will be entering the free agent market this coming fall. “He thinks he’s going to get Carl Crawford money,” Wilpon told The New Yorker. “He’s had everything wrong with him. He won’t get it.” Wilpon, of course, is referring to the many injuries that Reyes has battled throughout his career. It’s become apparent that the Mets will not be in the running to re-sign the shortstop and it’s possible that he’s even traded

    Mets chairman Jeff Wilpon told The New Yorker that he doesn’t think David Wright is a “superstar.”
    “He’s pressing,” Wilpon said. “A really good kid. A very good player. Not a superstar.” Wright is off to a slow start this season, batting just .226/.337/.404 through 39 games, but he’s averaged an .893 OPS, 27 home runs and 106 RBI per year since breaking into the majors in 2004 and is widely considered one of the top positions players in baseball. Perhaps Wilpon and Co. will try to shop the 28-year-old third baseman this summer

  25. ThePoonTycoon says:
    (link)

    @doog: i’d probably just ask what the guys needs. i wouldn’t give up too terribly much at this point tbh, maybe a solid player, but one without top end potential. pujols isn’t young, and bautista has 3B eligibility.

  26. chris says:

    In a 12 team mixed league I have Furcal coming off the DL but right now I have Asdrubal lighting it up at short for me. My question is do I just drop Furcal outright or do I drop someone less significant like Alex Gordon or Posada and Roll with 2 SS’s and try to play matchups? I mean I know Furcal will probably be back on the DL by July so maybe I just drop him to lose the headache, but I’m not sure….

  27. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

    @ThePoonTycoon: it is my 8 Team league. I’m not leaving a lineup spot open, I just have no bench bats. I put Morrison into Heyward’s spot, but it does force me to use Dunn at UTIL. And to explain our keepers, we keep 5 – just the 5 you want, no draft round implications, etc. Our draft just essentially starts in Round 6 with the team who finished 8th. I talked to some of my league mates about Strasburg a few weeks ago, saying that I wouldn’t drop him unless I had to, and they all said if I dropped him and if they could fit him on their team, they would. So that lead me to believe that maybe someone would have a slight bit of interest in the off season. What do you think?

  28. Dave says:
    (link)

    @Mr2Bits:

    I don’t think he’s trying to destroy the Mets but The handwriting is clearly on the wall. They can’t afford to pay Jose Reyes, at age 27, a 7 or 8 year deal for $120+ mil, hoping he stays healthy, and expect to rebuild the franchise

    Same with Wright. He’s a valuable fantasy baseball commodity, but his stock in real baseball is plummeting. I have friends who are Mets fans and the last player they want to see at-bat in a big spot is David Wright. Does anyone really think David Wright is the same player that he was 3 or 4 years ago? No way

  29. OaktownSteve says:

    Albert Pujols is nearly a third of the way through the season and he has more GIDPs than extra base hits. Asdrubal Cabrera has more homers than Miguel. Russell Martin has as many home runs as Brian McCann, Buster Posey and Joe Mauer…combined. You can see why that guy thought the world was going to end. That’s some cats and dogs living togther stuff.

    Never in my life have I felt less confidence in a pitcher on a team I was rooting for than I feel for Brian Fuentes. He is beyond terrible. It really makes you question the sanity of the folks running the A’s that not only does he continue to get appearances, he’s their closer. It’s madness.

    One last question:

    Thinking of making a one-day rental for the double header in Coors tomorrow.

    Whom do you like for overall solid production? Bloomquist, Wigginton or Seth Smith?

    I’d ideally like someone who’d play both games, and Seth Smith would be my first choice, but they’re predicting Tracy will sit him in the first game against Saunders.

    Thoughts?

  35. Wilsonian says:

    @ThePoonTycoon: OR I do have a pretty elite pitching staff, and could probably drop a lower end arm for a bat. This is my roster there:

    Lincecum, Verlander, Hamels, Pineda, Bills, Gio, D.Hudson, A.Sanchez, Peavy, Soria, K-Rod, Santos. So if necessary, I could drop Sanchez or Peavy (I would assume my two worst pitchers for the long haul), but I don’t really want to give up on them yet, they could end up being pretty solid.

    Are you starting James McDonald vs ATL or Mike Minor vs PIT in their HTH match-up this week?

    And Bourjos is really slumping… who would you replace him in the line-up with this week: Alex Gonzalez atl (5 games), Scott Sizemore (7 games), Chris Getz (6 games), John Buck (6 games) or are you going to make me keep playing him (Bourjos at 7 games)?

    Thanks so much for all the help! I’m surprised you got so beat up by Vazquez – you helped me drop him weeks ago and I’ve never looked back! (Of course, you helped me draft him, but I’ve forgotten all about that, since I never look back)

    @Wilsonian:

    It’s tough, I know. But you have to roll with it. I’m sure that dropping Napoli means you won’t ever get him back. And for what? A catcher that’s hot for a week? He’s hit 20 HR three years in a row. Heck, if you go to FanGraphs and look at the ZiPS rest-of-season forecast, VMart and Napoli will produce the same numbers, save average. But you don’t draft a catcher for average.

    My advice: stick with him. He’s in a good park and has only had 3 off-days in the past 10 days. In addition, he’s actually getting really unlucky. His BABIP is a hundred points off his career norm.

    Which side in 12 team H2H?
    Youk and Colby Lewis
    McCutchen, Alex Gordon, James Shields

    I would receive the Youk side and would be left with Hamilton, Crawford, BJ Upton, and Berkman for 4 OF spots.

    Hey all – I’m in a dynasty league. Which guy should I be keeping, and which should I be moving? Stephen Drew or Adsdrubal Cabrera? Any chance Cabrera can be close to this good over the long term so I can cash in on Drew’s ‘name’? Cabrera is only 25 so I’m wondering if he’s just now “figuring it out” as they say.

    @Rudy/Grey/All: Thoughts on Mark Reynolds? He has a double in each of the last four games and is available in my league. I need to pick up either a 3B or OF to replace Heyward. I would be dropping either Garza or Morrow, those are my two weakest pitchers.

  91. AL KOHOLIC says:
    (link)

    @Fletch: i always have but his injuries are bothering me,with leg issues i think his sb days are done,if you have large benches in your league i still like him,,take his 140 games 30+hr,s and his replacement during injuries can either slightly add to the hr,s or be a sb guy to turn out a great line from that position,but in the rcl shallow bench leagues id probably rather have dunns 100 35 100 if you can afford the average drop

    @ Everyone

    Hey folks, apologies if this is out of leftfield, but would anyof you cats be interested in taking over a team? The 3rd place team ( in a super competitive/active, 15 team roto league I commish) has stepped out for personal reasons. Suffice to say; this is no scrub team (as can be seen below) and you’d have a better shot than most at winning. It’s a non-keeper, but we have the same core 14 every year and all of them are highly active managers. Stats are 8 x 8, 25 man roster.

    The team is as follows; C John Buck, 1B Gaby Sanchez, 2B Brandon Phillips, 3B Michael Young, SS Stephen Drew, LF Ryan Braun, CF Curtis Granderson, RF Nick Swisher, Util Matt Holliday & Shin Soo Choo. BN Adam Laroche, Derrick Lee, Kelly Johnson, Jhonny Peralta. SP’s; Cole Hamels, Shaun Marcum, Ted Lilly, Zack Britton, RA Dickey, Clayton Richard. RP’s; Brandon League, Joba Chamberlain, Sean Marshall, Jason Frasor, BN Hisanori Takahashi. Unlimited Adds and Trades.

    Anyhow, 1st and final ‘spam’, this site is rad and I figured it would be the best place to find an active manager. Sorry to delay you all from fantasy baseball banter. Do continue. Thanks for the time, and let me know if anyone is interested. (Grey? Rudy? :P)

    Stay cool folks,

    Al, I was consider asking you! You seem to know your fantasy baseball. If you’re interested, I’d get you in today. It’s a very competitive league, so I need to sort this out ASAP. It’s not a money league, but I understand if other leagues are keeping you busy.

    The reply is appreaciated, and if the team is yours if you change your mind! Hopefully your recovery and return to work go well. Take care,

  113. Since all the perts are taking the day off, I’ll throw my 2 cents, got about an hour to waste before i can actually leave work… here we go. (keep in mind my insight means absolutely nothing, but i’ve played fantasy baseball for about 9 years now, am in a 12tm al only dynasty 5×5 and a 12 tm NL only dynasty 5×5 and have won both of them several times).
    @Juan Pierre is Fast: If you have the pitching to replace weaver , you take Tulo and Cargo in a second.
    @Tony: Many feel your pain, Bailey should be back by the end of the week.
    @RonWashington’sStache: Peralta is the “hotter” player, if it’s a H2H league, i guess Peralta for now. but Reynolds will have better power #’s at the end of the year (atleast he should!!!). I think Betemit will be in a platoon role sooner rather than later due to Moustakas coming up on the 1st (possibly).
    @ChiSox: Pineda has been lights out…
    @Wooda: depends on what categories you are hurting in… If you are ok on saves, i would drop Guerrier.. McDougal got the save the other day, and Jansen looks like the future closer there.
    @Enrique: I actually have him in my NL only league and am strongly considering dropping him, i hate to recommend it, but if there’s a better option out there (possibly Vance Worley or Minor could be good pickupd if they stick in the bigs)…
    @itchy: If you need the saves, i take Putz (crazy to choose him over Feliz, but Feliz has been struggling lately), if you need the pitchers ill take Worley over bedard, not a big fan of the old man or Seattle. .@Sach: Belt will be called up soon to play left field, i originally heard that it would be this week (before June 1st), but so far, nothing. he has been ripping the cover off the ball in AAA
    @Jeff: Jimenez (just because i hate Liriano) + the fact that Minn looks straight horrible
    @TravestyJones: dead even in my eyes, porcello has been hot lately though (nice outing last night)
    @Busta: rough choices based off matchups, id roll de la rosa and hellickson (but i don’t think you can go wrong with starting cueto either).
    @stynyr: I guess, I don’t think you’ll see many saves with either of those guys. Kenley Jansen a possibility?
    @Wilsonian: lot of talent out there in that league. I’m all for the mindset of “do what you got to do to win this year”, even if it takes sacrificing a little talent for next year. I’d drop Strasburg, based off your needs. Be honest, brantley looks to be the best out of that group at this point…
    @doog: Personally, i wouldn’t trade bautista for pujols… don’t see why you would either, unless you need a CI bad, and have a flux of OF’s.
    @Eddy: keep Marcum
    @Mr2Bits: that’s hilarious!
    @chris: try to trade Furcal
    @lil’ saucy: Brown… this is what you’ve been waiting for.
    @Eddy: wigg. i wouldn’t think bloomquist would play both games either
    @Eddy: don’t forget Desmond Jennings!
    @NoEmoJoe: Absolutely not
    @Exactly: none of those guys will put up braun/posey numbers. I think Moustakas is walking into the best (no pressure) situation out of the players you named though.
    @Dr. Stats: ASAP! there will be TONS of articles telling everyone else to pick them up by the end of the week
    @Adam: Ramos has most upside…
    @Deeeeeez Nuts: I agree.
    @Deeeeeez Nuts: I think he’ll be hurt sooner than later, i’ve been impressed so far though. perts are saying good things about his mechanics.
    @Fletch: I definitely wouldn’t drop him for Gordon, I would wait on Cruz to see how he comes back from injury (but probably wouldn’t drop him for Cruz either)
    @Jim: definitely take the chance over masterson. Kid’s stuff is good. he’ll be the closer there soon (for years to come).
    @Van Hammersly: I honestly don’t know how to answer that one… i like all of the pitchers you named, and don’t really trust Greinke yet (dude’s a head case).
    @Shea Sera Sera: if this is a bench spot, i would take Belt over him at this point.
    @AL KOHOLIC: They’re saying frazier is going to get a lot of playing time, i wouldn’t drop Hill for him though… roofie
    @chris: gallardo
    @Gareth: congrats to the PERTS!
    @Black Beard: I’m all about Arencibia this year!
    @Wilsonian: no
    @Chinaski: I like the kid, future #3
    @Chris: I love Pineda, but you have to loke chacin better for that matchup.
    @Eng: Trumbo, i don’t think Miranda has much, he’ll still split time, plus he has brandon allen waiting in the wings. Trumbo’s getting AB’s. TRUMBONER
    @AL KOHOLIC: Belt!
    @ivebeenupforthreedaysstraight: ha nice
    @herschel: norris , hudson, kuroda. Keep it in the NL
    @Charlie Says: i agree
    @nick m.: mccutchen side
    @Benny: keep cabrera
    @ThE sHiT: id drop Garza for reynolds. He is being examined right now, tightness in the elbow…
    @slam: johnson
    @Fletch: I would think that you could get a better P in return, Fher, is great, but his lack of wins (even though that is a stupid category), don’t make him worth as much as the other elite pitchers (IMO)
    @Dmonkey25: Lee, Huff, Gordon/HUnter, young
    @Carl Spackler: Arencibia
    @Higgins: prolly not
    @Martin: Depending on your depth, i wouldn’t do that deal though.
    @Eddy: I saw it, he ran into the wall, then limped around a bit, then the next play he came in from the OF. i think he’s playing today though.
    @Commish Cauda: yes, your crazy, especially until you see how he plays when he comes back. if he’s old utley, then it’s a good deal for you, but i don’t think he will be old utley (he’s too old now…).
    @Mike: I’d take that on the Dunn / Crawford side, again, it’s risky, but if they turn it around, a trade like that can win a league. high risk / high reward.

    Wow. just want to say, thanks to Grey, Rudy, and all the others who do this on a regular basis… mad time consuming. hope my limited knowledge helped the few of you out there.

  126. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

    @The Talented Mr. Douche Bag: thanks for the work there man. I’ve gotten mixed reviews on what to do re: hanging on to Strasburg. I haven’t fully decided if I’m going to drop him now and pick up a bat or what. You said Brantley looks to be the best, but I haven’t really seen him play lately. Is he for real, or is this just a case of the Indians being hot?

    @Smokey: Just to get your insight, too, what do you think about my situation here: I have Lind, Heyward, and Strasburg on the DL and my league only has 2 DL spots available.

    Mr. Douchebag says he likes Brantley out of that group, what’s your take and do I drop Stras?

  127. Smokey

    Smokey says:
    (link)

    @Wilsonian: I would hold on to him. 10 games or so is all the production you would be missing from Heyward or Lind. Whose to say that the guy replacing them nets you zero fanatsy value and you released Stras to get them. 0 for 0 is better(because it doesn’t hurt you in periph hitting cats) than 1-30 and no Stras

  128. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

    @Smokey: thanks man. And to be clear, I’m not even losing a roster spot. I had Morrison on my bench and I plugged him into Heyward’s spot. It just forces me to have to play him, Dunn, and Zobrist. Instead of being able to bench one of them.

  129. Smokey

    Smokey says:

    Someone tell me why the fuck Bartolo would be throwing fast balls to Bautista with 2 outs and nobody on? He threw him a 1st pitch fast ball for a strike looking because JB was probably so shocked to see a pitch to hit. Colon comes right back with a high strike on the next pitch JB annihilates it. Just moronic to give that guy anything great to hit in a situation like that given that he has been absolutely crushing everything.

  143. Eddy says:
    (link)

    @Steve:

    That’s awesome.

  144. @WDE05: because colon pretty much only throws fastballs?

    people say “why does bautista ever see a fastball any more,” but you can’t just completely stop throwing fastballs to a major league hitter. that kind of makes it too easy for him to sit on the offspeed stuff, you know? plus it depends on the pitcher – what other pitch does colon have that he’s going to throw to bautista 100% of the time and get him out that way? if it worked they’d do it.

    Youk and Colby Lewis

    I have a glut of top OF’s through other trades and have been rolling with Gordon at 3B – I know it is a little pricey, but I would receive the Youk side and would be left with Hamilton, Crawford, BJ Upton, and Berkman for 3 OF spots and 1 Util. If I don’t take the deal, one of those OF’s will be sitting on the bench and I try to not have position players on the bench.

    Smokey says just hold for now, which is kind of the way I’m leaning. Mr. Douchebag says drop Stras and pick up Brantley. So I’m just wondering your opinion, too. Thanks man.

  150. @Eddy: he’s technically behind the bonds pace. i think this is ~46 jays games, bonds had 22 by this point. saw that somewhere. but bautista missed a bunch of games, 3 when he had the baby and 3 more for the stiff neck. so he’s closer to bonds pace in terms of games he’s actually played in – probly still a touch behind – not sure.

    @wily mo:

    With 2 outs and nobody on, Bautista should not see a pitch to drive, imo. Throw him off speed stuff or fast balls that are extremely low or outside. You’ll probably end up walking him, but that’s a perfectly reasonable result. The dude is so hot right now that he needs to be treated like Bonds in his prime.

    What do you follow some Coke with? Some Furbush of course.

    Let the childish jokes commence.

  162. Dat Dude says:
    (link)

    @Grey: love the site man…

    all the rumblings (local news sources) are saying that Sam LeCure is going to take the rotation spot of Volquez…

  163. Dat Dude says:

    to the DL: LaRoche, McLouth…

    to the Minors: MITCHELL BOGGS! TLR STRIKES AGAIN!

  164. The Talented Mr. Douche Bag says:

    anytime, love the site…

  165. @Grey: It is (one-for-one), and the Cutch side would be what I’m getting. Plus I already have Hanley and the guy I’m trading to may as well have an empty SS slot, so I think it’s pretty fair for both sides.

  166. tHe sHiT says:
    (link)

    @Grey: Give up my Hanson or Haren to get Weeks? I would then flip Weeks to get either Bruce, Crawford, Pence, or CarGo. Which OF do i go for?

  167. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @Awesomus Maximus: Cool, yeah, I like your side better.

    @tHe sHiT: Send Haren, if you must. Take CarGo or Crawford, in that order.

  168. Eddie says:
    (link)

    Is Soto still on track to be activated from the DL when he is eligible?

  169. Charlie Says says:
    (link)

    @tHe sHiT: I’d trade Haren. He is the 2010 Ubaldo. He’ll fade badly in the second half. Hanson is steady.

  170. Steve says:
    (link)

    Come on Kershaw – it’s the ASTROS!

    You know, like the the dog from the Jetsons.

    Anyone know why Coke left the game? I’m wondering if the Tigers have decided to re-Furbush their lineup. Heyo!

  172. @WDE05: eh. he still makes outs sometimes. they walked him intentionally later on and that didn’t really work out either.

    meanwhile, asdrubal bautista over here

  173. Wilsonian says:

    JP or Wieters?

    Norris, Annabelle, Melancon, or Peavy – pick two?

  176. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

    @Grey: cool, those are the guys I’ve got. It’s just getting tough to ignore JP, he’s got 3 more ribbies tonight.

  177. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

    @Wilsonian: make that 4 more ribbies…

  178. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @Wilsonian: Eh, go with the hot bat, Arencibia.

  179. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

    @Grey: just realized he’s on waivers for a couple days, so I guess it’s Wieters until Wednesday at least.

  180. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Awesomus Maximus: Actually, went back and read it last week. I don’t agree that Mike Mike’s girl wasn’t cute. Thought she was, but I like that nerdy look. The problem I had with that whole stroyline was how awkward it was. Really hard to watch Mike Mike interact with girls. It’s like babysitting for two 12-year-olds on their first date. How was his dad in prison?

  182. Eddy says:
    (link)

    I saw Kershaw only went 84 pitches. Anything strange?

  183. Steve says:
    (link)

    @Eddy: Don’t think so. Two guys on but two out when his turn to bat came in the 7th so they pinch-hit for him.

  184. Eddy says:
    (link)

    @Steve:

    Ah, OK. Thanks!

  185. Black Beard says:
    (link)

    @Eddy: Ethier hit for him with a runner(s) in scoring position.

  186. ThE sHiT says:
    (link)

    @Grey: I need an OF, my other guys are JUpton, Heyward and Bourjos. I had to move Gordon from UTIL to 3B to fill in for Wright. Picked up Pena to fill that UTIL spot as there were no good third baseman on the wire. My pitchers are Hanson, Haren, Marcum, Gio, dlR, Kennedy, Morrow and Garza. I feel i can afford to lose a top guy for a top bat. Although i dont really want to, Heywards injury has kind of forced my hand as i dont have another DL slot and I would have to drop a pitcher to pick up a replacement OF for him. Still gotta move Haren for Weeks and then go for CarGo with Weeks right?

  187. Terrence Mann says:
    (link)

    Seeing the fact that I had the sack to start Frank Frank’s sorry ass this week, I think I should get a save even though the Jays were up 4.

  188. BKK says:

    This seems obvious but, which side:

    Votto, Pedroia vs Cano, Castro, Pineda

  189. bogbert says:
    (link)

    Smoak’s been cooling off. Would you pick up Rizzo instead when he comes up, or would it be premature? Thanks..

  190. ThE sHiT says:
    (link)

    @Grey: BTW, I tried prying away Grandy from the Weeks owner, but he wants Haren or Hanson AND another pitcher like Marcum. Thats crazy. He is selling Weeks cuz he has Utley coming back.

  191. Steve says:
    (link)

    Guerrier better not f*** this up. Is this a two-inning save or something?

  192. AL KOHOLIC says:
    (link)

    @Steve: jansen time,look at the indians and the red hot asdrubal go

  193. BKK says:
    (link)

    @Grey: Like I said, obvious, does Pedroia’s apparent injury make a difference.

  194. ThE sHiT says:
    (link)

    @Grey: Reynolds is on the wire. Drop Pena for him?

  195. Terrence Mann says:
    (link)

    Dude in my league is looking for a starter. My staff is Marcum Chacin Nolasco Wandy Kuroda Gio Zambrano Latos. The only players he has I would want are Wright Kinsler and Santana. Im thinking Marcum for Wright (he can have Alvarez too), Nolasco for either of the other 2. No?

  196. Trick dad says:

  198. Steve says:

    @AL KOHOLIC: Now the steal.

    Whoever gets the ball for the Dodgers in the 9th, like I said, better not f*** it up.

  199. Steve says:
    (link)

    Jesus – Corey Hart!

  200. bogbert says:

    Anyone have any idea why Valverde was brought in with a 6-1 lead? He just ruined Gallardo’s evening for me.

  201. Trevor

    tggq21 says:

    I don’t know who shittier..Valverde or Leyland for putting him in there.

  202. BKK says:

  203. Trevor

    tggq21 says:

  204. bogbert says:

  209. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Eddy: Dammit!

    Asshole.

  214. Griff says:
    (link)

    @chata: Don’t forget Macdougal. 7 pitches for Macdougal in the 7th to Guerrier’s 25 in the 8th. I hate chasing saves. I really do.

  215. bogbert says:
    (link)

    @Grey: I think you’re right. Any word on whether other T-shirts might be forthcoming? Your slam and legs comment made me think of it. There were lots of good suggestions in whatever post that was a while back.

    @Steve: i was crying last week after dropping him right before padilla went down,blessing in disquise

  220. @Grey: I thought she was cute, as well… but there was one full body shot (playing pool, I think) when you could see a pretty sloppy belly. The fact that they had everything in common was the unrealistic part to me, but I know how editing works. Tell me you wouldn’t watch a Mike Mike & Leeroy spinoff, though?

  221. AL KOHOLIC says:

    grey i have rizzo jennings and grady on my bench with bernadina filling in until 1 of them is ready,if i need to drop 1 in the next few days,who would you drop,and if its for a short term closer like balfour or guerrier and im in good shape on saves would you hold or drop who,thanks hope the wedding went well,love my shirt,fits so far we,ll see after the wash,now the ole lady wants one

    @bogbert: Not sure on the shirts, other people make them, so slightly out of my control.

    @nick m.: Dempster

    @Black Beard: Smoak

    @knighttown: It’s fair.

    @Awesomus Maximus: Ah, must’ve missed the belly. Yeah, that show would work. Any show with Roy-Lee on down for.

    @AL KOHOLIC: Nice on the shirt. Wedding was fine. Not mine, so that’s good. Drop Balfour, Rizzo, in that order.

    @Fletch: A-Gon side, but it’s fair.

    omg .
    the guy accepts my offer of jair and hanrahan for heyward .
    i gotta figure , that as long as heyward doesn’t die on me ,
    that i have every right to be smiling .

    so long as the trade doesn’t get vetoed , my last place team has added
    kemp and heyward for scherzer and jair , essentially .
    2012 is looking UP !!

  231. chata says:
    (link)

    of course , now i have to cancel my offer , to the other guy ,
    of jair and tomlin for pineda .

    (link)

    @chata: good trades but how are you doing this year

  233. chata says:
    (link)

    @AL KOHOLIC:

    brought my last place team (20 points) up to 8th (61 points) .

    3.5 and 3.0 in HR/rbi
    9.5 and 11.0 in wins/saves
    but that will change .

    at the out-set , my goal was to improve upon my 9 keepers
    and field a competitive team by 2013 .

    these trades , along with drafting hellickson , strasburg , and bruce ,
    suit my purpose .

  234. chata says:
