Whoever foresaw me touting Logan Forsythe as a lead Buy is either a liar or a psychic. In some circles those two are the same thing. Grandstanding like Al Pacino, “Not this circle…Hoo-ah!” Though on a completely serious tip, why are psychic stores ever empty of customers? If you know no one is coming into your store, why not close the store until you need to open it? David Blaine, your magic is real and I believe in you! But is Logan’s magic real? I hope so because I’m in a fantasy baseball strait jacket and Logan told me in my dreams that he’d help me get out of this milk can that I’m typing from. Bee tee dubya, I’m typing this from behind my back while in a strait jacket. Score one for Trey–Yrey–Where the hell is the G? In 46 games in Triple-A in 2011, Logan went 8/8 with a .445 OBP. Why I oughta kiss you! Throughout the minors, he showed similar skills. In the majors, his walking hasn’t completely translated, but he’s only 25 years old and he could have a few years of a decent average with low teen homer and mid-to-high teen speed. As of right now, he’s hitting .400 with 2 homers in the last week (at Petco, so that shouldn’t worry you). This is meant to entice you in deeper keeper leagues and shallower mixed leagues for the short term. How’d I do? Wait, don’t tell me? Let me tuess–yuess–Where’s that G!? Anyway, here’s some more players to buy or sell in fantasy baseball:
BUY
Cameron Maybin – It’s a monkey-fightin’ Padres day up in here, up in here. The Padre hitters must be staying at the Renaissance.
Dewayne Wise – Why do I keep talking about him? Why not grab him and find out? Why grab him if you don’t need steals? Easy with the Why’s, guy.
Chris Denorfia – Because of all of these Padre hitters in this Buy, I’m laughing like a madman and waving my hands like Henry Hill when Pesci’s going all “I’m funny how?” Denorfia needs to be platooned in and out of your lineup, but he can go to 11 on lefties.
Brandon Moss – I don’t wanna be the fly in your ointment, but Moss is probably better than that guy you have at corner infidel. You know, Moss with 18 homers in just over 200 ABs. This rolling Moss collects no rocks!
John Mayberry Jr. – Here’s something interesting, by which I mean dry and pedantic, Mayberry is owned in more than twice as many leagues as Moss because (I’m assuming) he’s a starter, but Moss has been more valuable.
Anthony Gose – You need a shot of SAGNOF right into your vein? You Bubbles’ing for steals? Then grab Gose, yo.
Brandon Belt – He’s probably been the hottest hitter out of all of these hitters, but I ask you, “You’re hot now, Belt, but how many times can you burn me?” FWIWuertz, he’s hitting near .300 in the 2nd half with very little power.
Luke Gregerson – If you want me to stop touting the Padres closer, you’ll tell your friends to pick him up so he moves above 50% owned in ESPN. It’s the only way we can survive!
Jonathan Broxton – Dusty said Broxton is unequivocally going to maybe get saves. To the point, his exact words were, “Sometimes me and him (pointing at his toothpick), we get ourselves in tight places, but pitchers’ arms are nothing to fool around with. I will do whatever I can to ease the burden on Aroldis’s arm. If that means him throwing 80 miles per hour, then I’ll have him do that while throwing batting practice for 5 hours before games.”
Ryan Cook – There’s been no official change to the closer situation in Oakland, but Balfour is back to his aptronym (Word of the Day!) ways, and the A’s are competing for a Wild Card (Wait, what? Why not just say the O’s are in first in the AL East? Or that the Nats have the best record in baseball?), so Cook may get saves if he’s lights out and Balfour is, uh, lights on.
Donovan Solano – With the lost of Redhead Kingpin and The Infante, Solano’s been playing every day and doing a fine job of it for real baseball. In fantasy, I’d like to see more steals. As you can see from our 20-day Player Rater, he’s been about as valuable as Zobrist and Kendrick.
Everth Cabrera – Eff me in the eff hole, just pick up the whole Padres lineup.
Jed Lowrie – Due to his injury, he may not play every day, so in the short term he may have some–Wait, the short term? There’s only a couple of weeks left. There is no long term here. Jed better find some Texas tea real quick or I can’t see owning him.
Josh Donaldson – We’ve got four Padre hitters, a couple of A’s, an Astro, a Marlin, and a Philly…And the Philly’s the worst one. It’s opposite day here at Razzball. “My name is Grey. I’m unemployed and I live with my parents.”
Erasmo Ramirez – He’s the kind of guy that has solid control, but not plus-K stuff. I’m surprised he’s not a Twins pitcher. Maybe in the offseason he can go to “Be A Twinkie” fantasy camp hosted by Brad Radke.
Jarrod Parker – Bee tee dubya, I’m just going by the Stream-o-Nator here. At this point in the season, you shouldn’t be looking further than a start or two into the future.
Andrew Cashner – Finally, a Padres pitcher…We’re making sense again! Whew, for a while there I thought I was running some kind of Anarchist Organization. (I contemplated not capping Anarchist Organization, but, well… Why chance it? These are the last people you want to piss off. I could see it now, Grey Albright was murdered today because he didn’t cap Anarchist. Suspects include Anarchists and Grammar Nazis.)
SELL
Jaime Garcia – He hasn’t looked consistent enough to pitch him this year. That’s a sknaht, tub on sknaht… Damn, opposite day, you’re messing with my head!
Any closer – I’m not saying you should definitely drop your closers at this point, but if you’re unable to gain a saves point and no one can catch you. There’s probably better resources out there for that spot on your roster. I’m sure you can find a Padres hitters. You feel me? Well, may as well rub my back while you’re feeling me.
Asdrubal Cabrera – I got no quarrel with Asdrubal, but his wrist is so sore the only thing it can hold is him out of the lineup. Turn of a phrase point!
Adam Dunn – You got a whole lot more from Dunn than you thought you were gonna. You guys had a good run, which is ironic because neither of you can probably jog around the block, but Dunn’s got a vague injury that they’re claiming is oblique. You know how you open the refrigerator and there’s nothing there so you close it and open it again and again and again and then you find some leftovers that end up being “still good?” Well, pretend the waiver wire is the refrigerator and find yourself some leftovers.

And by Drew Solano, you mean Donovan, right? Biggest schmohawk if I ever saw one. Take it from someone who saw Ozzie manage Willie Harris to World Series 2B fame.
Oops, typo… Good catch!
Should I drop Lowrie and Machado (have to drop both b/c Lowrie’s still in the DL spot) to pick up Forsythe before someone else grabs him, and then decide on Sunday about starting him or Lind in the IF spot next week?
BTW, good thing you didn’t put Nick up at the Standard, unless of course he’s into that sort of thing: http://laist.com/2012/09/11/woman_pisses_on_rug_in_ad_for_stand.php
Yeah, I’d go to Logan now… I’m sure people probably did that at Nick’s hotel, only it wasn’t as publicized…
@Grey, So you actually helped him out! I bet those Standard rooms were much more expensive…
Oh yeah, if you’re into that sorta thing…
1. I’m a bit thick this afternoon, so bear with me. I don’t understand what you mean under “Any Closer” when you say “if you’re unable to gain a saves point and no one can catch you.” Do you mean that I should drop a closer if no one can catch me because my other closers are so strong? Or do you mean that if I don’t have a chance in the saves category against a strong opponent, I’d be better off allocating resources elsewhere.
2. Scutaro or Forsythe.
Thanks
I mean you’d be better off allocating resources elsewhere if you’re uncatchable in saves… If you’re up by say ten saves at this point, you’re not getting caught… Logan…
@Deadwoods, I think Grey is talking about roto, not h2h. In h2h, you should only drop closers if you have so many good ones that no potential opponent could beat you.
Yes, in roto…
@Grey, Did you know you picked up 25 saves in the first 12 days of September in the RCL?
@VinWins, Yeah, I just dropped a closer too because I have way too many saves…
@Deadwoods,
Pretty sure he was talking more about roto than H2H.
If the guy in front of you in the standings is ahead by 20 saves, and the guy behind you is down by 20 saves, you probably can cut some closers if you’re really in need of roster spots for something else. You probably won’t gain or lose even 1 pt thru saves no matter what.
@Adam, Thanks, all.
Damnit now I’m going to have to watch goodfellas this weekend. For the rest of the day I’m going to be sitting at work mumbling this to my self “I’m funny how, I mean funny like I’m a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh” over and over again. i would work on my fantasy team but even Logan “run over william” Forsythe can’t help me now. I watch the Dodger games and start grinding my teeth when Gonzo comes up to bat and does nothing like he has done all year on my fantasy team. He has disappointed me fantasy wise and in real life, thats like hooking up with a chick and finding out they have a dick and better fantasy line-up than you. He’s been about as yawnstipating as pride and prejudice on valium and somas. At least if I would of owned TEX I could of at least had the injury excuse to go with his poor play or found some dumb yankee love schlub to trade him to. But no, I get the Am-Mex who can’t hit, that gets a second chance in the land of Mexicans and he still can’t hit. Jamie Jarrin has got to going ay ya ya!
@Jack Full of Hate, HA! Correction: She has a penis and she’s beating you in your fantasy league. That’s the worse…
@Grey, round 1 goes to Gray…I should of stayed in my money league, at least those douche bags are good at throwing money away that I usually collect.
Ha… Thanks…
@Grey, going to the fair this weekend?
I usually go with a group of people but I haven’t heard anything yet about this year’s trip… When does it go until?
@Grey, september 30th…is it your mustache club?
My mustache groomers… Damn, not much time left… I’m guessing we’ll go the last weekend, but haven’t heard anything… I’ll definitely go the last weekend if not before… Have you gone yet?
@Grey, no, i have to go wednesday for work, so i’ll get a little taste, then probably the last weekend for earth wind and fire.
I have to work security at the carnival at my daughters school next weekend.so I won’t go next weekend, which pisses me off cause i wanted to see war. got my aviators ready to go for security detail.
What work do you have to do there? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to…
@Grey,Im a stand-by carnie…not really.
I belong to a local chamber and we have booths for the day for free. I do insurance, family biz, and its cheap and easy marketing. Not really my thing, but it gets me in the fair for free and I’m going to bring one of my CSR’s to help so I can go dick around for a while. The funny thing is that we need more biz in the area. Alot of our clients are in the LA area, for example, the other day I had to go inspect a house up by the Hollywood Resorvoir.
I hear ya… The fair must have a lot more people from outlying areas that you wouldn’t usually reach, right? Probably a really good place to market…
@Grey, that and each local city gets their day at the fair with reduced admission.
I think its funny you are from New York/New Jersey. We have a lot of writers/producers customers from there that come out to California . My dad has had a referal source for like 30 years who works with a lot of the studios finding the transplants housing when they come out. when I first saw where you came from and what you really do i wondered if i had already met the great grey a long time ago and never knew it. But probably not. Now we have had Oscar winning producers and writers on hit shows. Its kinda weird.
That is weird… Did your dad or you deal with Oakwood Housing? Put people up there?
@Grey, doesn’t ring a bell, but I will ask him. Alot of them were houses. Were you ever sought after pre-razzball?
I feel like a dork because one of his clients that I only met once, wrote one of my favorite episodes of Family Guy and I want him to autograph a DVD for me. I’m so lame and kinda fan boyish
Ha… Nah, Oakwood Housing is where a lot of actors and writers stay when they come in for pilot season… It’s temp, business housing… But it sounds like you were dealing with bigger names that wanted houses to stay in…
@Grey, not sure who they were, but some ended up doin very well out here. all I know is we made alot of money by just being good at what we do. And not being schmucks!
Sometimes we would get referals from those people to the little guys who lived in some odd spots throughout hollywood, los feliz and silver lake.
I remember one who had just moved out and had an old ass tercel and moved into a $500,000 house on the Westside.
The Tercel must’ve been his 4th car…
@Grey, i think he just got a big payday and hadn’t got around to getting a new car yet. we did his auto insurance too. but kinda a quirky weird guy.
Ain’t they all?
@Grey, you’re not todd the All-American?
Ha… Nah, but I did watch the first episode of the voice…
@Grey, the black african kid from queens is awesome
Yeah, he seemed like he could go far, really sweet and soulful… And he didn’t out his old teacher…
@Grey, what did you think of the scottish rocker?
I thought he was all right, wasn’t blown away by him really… Feel like he’s not gonna last long… Why, you liked him?
@Grey, for the token white guy, he’s better than Tony Luka fro last year, so i guess in that regard, he’s decent enough to hang around for a bit. what about the yoddler?
I didn’t think she was anything special either in looks or singing… I thought Tony Luka was better from last year than the Scot… But he also had numerous weeks to get me involved… Because the Scot was first overall, makes me think he’ll be around for a bit, but he kinda seemed like the type to lose a head to head battle…
Aaron Hill has been awful the last 10 days or so.. do I ride him out with Forsythe available on the wire?
Some additional info… 10 team H2H. We have 2B, SS, and MI positions… I’m currently rockin’ R. Weeks, Castro, and Hill.
WOW.
@Brian Peppers, I’d go with Logan…
Nelson Has done almost nothing in the past week. Would you drop him in a 12-team OBP?
@Eddy, That’d be Nelson Cruz
@Eddy, I wouldn’t…
Why is Carter not playing much anymore ?
@Phil,
A’s haven been playing Moss only vs righties, Carter only vs lefties. Carter used to get some run vs righties, but not anymore. Damn shame…
@Adam, A’s are facing lefties today and tomorrow, so Carter should get a couple starts in.
@Phil, Chris Carter is going to hit a 900 foot homerun against Joe Saunders tonight. I’m sitting right behind home plate tonight so look for me on tv. I’ll be the guy with the hat.
Wait, is it an A’s hat?
@Grey, Yahua ceremonial headdress.
But of course!
Among other things, I particularly enjoy grabbing someone during the week that then turns up on the Friday Albtight Buy List. So, please repost the wonderful things that you deleted about Sweet&LoCain. “Not considered serious” is the current diagnosis on the hammy. For all of us, this is serious.
@zombie, Ha, good eye… Yeah, I did delete him… For another day if he was injured… But if he’s not, it’s just more of this morning’s stuff… Has been hitting, good speed and power…
@grey, the streamonator has edgar gonzalas ranked well in his matchup with the Phil’s, but would you start him in a league that’s counts loses as a category, I do need some k s everything else is tight though
@Jay, The SON tends to over-rate guys who have done well but haven’t pitched very much, so his ranking is perhaps slightly deceiving.
Kluber is quite high today for the same reason – though I’m starting him (I picked him up before it turned out he’d be going against Verlander… )
He’s against the Phillies too, who are rolling right now.
@Steve, good luck Steve!! I wouldnt trust kluber with a nickel, but im pullin for ya!
@Prezii, Yeah, I’m still real undecided on actually starting him. I picked him up when I was worried about being swamped by starts by my opponent.
@Steve, …except for that Astros buzz-saw they ran in to last night. Yeesh. I heard a stat the other day on the Dan Patrick Show (I think it was the DP Show) that the Astros have only been favored by Vegas once in their last 60-something games. Once. In 60. Oh, and by the way, they lost that one.
@Chillmodious, I know all about last night. I started Harrel and my opponent had Cloyd. I was pretty annoyed there for a while…
@Jay, I wouldn’t start him…
@Grey:
This is a miserable question to have to ask… I NEED to start one of these two guys in a H2H points league… Who would be your choice?
Casey Kelly v COL
Jenrry Mejia @ MIL
(puke)
@joe from pt pleasant, SON kinda likes Kelly and he’s got a friendlier ballpark. I’d imagine Grey would say the same, but clearly I’m no Grey…
@joe from pt pleasant, What Chill said…
I’ve been riding Parker like Black Beauty all season. other then a few week dry spell, the youngster has come through for me. I’m still trying to figure out why Arizona traded him for Cahill. Just like I still don’t get why they traded sexy Scherzer. mind bottling
@LT, Yeah, for serious… Parker’s gonna have a good career… Odd, but the A’s traded away Gio too so there’s that….
@Grey, Names don’t matter to Billy Beane or Fat Jonah Hill…just percentages and numbers on a grid.
Never count out BB and FJH…
Starlin Castro, I love you.
No homo.
@Poo Holes, Ha
@Poo Holes, dont lie… Thats ALL homo! Haha
I’ve got McCann and Rosario as my catchers in a 10 team league. It’s a H2H league and we’re in the first week of the playoffs; me and my opponent are neck and neck in wins and Ks. Safe to drop McCann to stream a pitcher tomorrow? Just seems strange dropping him but I don’t have many other options except Reynolds, Crisp and maybe Niese.
Yeah, I’d drop McCann…
@Grey, Assuming that’s a 2 catcher league… I don’t know of any fantasy system that prevents one from doing it, but I don’t think it’s ethical to punt a position to add a pitcher (or whatever).
@Carnac, I don’t think it’s a 2 catcher league…
@Grey, @Carnac
Yeah, sorry, after I posted I realized I should have pointed out it is not a two catcher league. My opponent is streaming pitchers, something I normally avoid if possible, so I just need to keep up.
@Carnac, Wow, that seems harsh. I’ve often dropped my catcher on short schedule days to carry another position. Every 2-catcher league I’ve played in has had several teams carrying only 1 catcher.
The Tigers have placed Ryan Raburn on on the 15-day DL. Wait, what? Does Dave Dombrowski own Raburn on his fantasy team and, if so, how terrible must Dombrowski’s fantasy team be?
That’s hilarious… Maybe it’s a contract thing… Odd move… Unless you’re right about his fantasy team… Maybe he’s playing Fantasy Razzball… Or maybe he’s the best real life GM and worst fantasy one…
@Grey, razzball needs to come up with a manager razzball league system. 1st round pick…. Dusty Baker.
Ha… 2nd pick is tougher… Might have to go with The Sciosciapath…
@Grey. I agree.. i wanna say davey johnson is pretty pathetic as well, but ya cant argue with the best record in the MLB.
I’ve always liked Davey from his Mets days, but he’s crackers sometimes too… He’s no Ozzie though…
@Grey, yeah i know he won a world series in the 80′s, but i think hes lost a little brain since then.. ozzie for sure would go in the top ten!
He also lost about 100 lbs… He looks manorexic…
@Grey, stress of being a manager. We do give them a hard time but i bet we would have some “oops” moments if we tried to manage a major league club.. although ozzie just brings that shizz on himself! I dont even consider him a manager anymore..
I think the bigger issue is probably the pressure to play certain guys because of contracts…
@Grey, man you cant listen to the fans! I know they are the ones who pay the moola, but damn they dont manage the team. I just feel once you start payin attention to criticism from fans,you lose it. Example: ozzie. And davey doesnt give a F*CKK about the fans, if he did strasburg would be out there with his arm hangin off. A tale of two tapes, i guess.
Agreed… Ozzie puts out there a don’t care attitude but he seems desperate for everyone to like him…
Royals beat writer saying Cain has a grade 2 hammy strain. Could be done for the year.
Yeah, any hammy thing for a speed guy isn’t good, was why I removed him from the Buy… Grade 2 this late probably does mean he’s done… Crazy how he can’t get a job then can’t stay healthy when he does…
Drop Marcum after his Saturday start in favor of streamers? Looks like he’ll get @WAS, @CIN, and (probably) SD the rest of season…
Yeah, I would…
Damn. Mauer out again. Trying to win a playoff matchup one short. Two short if you count Bruce…
Hopefully you get those Holds…
Maybin or Aoki?
Aoki
Fuck you Kluber. And what an idiot I am for starting you.
That sucks, sorry about that…
@Steve, rollins tho? Eh?
Rollins! That cheered me up a bit.
@Steve, there ya go!!
@Grey: next week, weekly roto, close in all offensive categories (except runs). which do you like from these options:
3b – lawrie (3 @ nyy, 3 @ tb), solano (3 vs atl, 3 @ nym) or forsythe (3 @ ari, 3 @ sf)
DH – cespedes (3 @ det, 3 @ nyy), rizzo (1 vs pit, 3 vs cin, 3 vs stl), gose or rasmus (3 @ nyy, 3 @ tb) or any of the above.
thanks, have a great weekend and shana tova…
Logan… Rizzo… You too!
Holy shit Meds! Go crazy with ur girly lookin self!!
And stream o nator… Screw you! Fiers 120? More like thats the number of runs he’ll give up!
Think he’s just tiring out… Too many innings on his arm at this point…
Yummo!
Jesus, Longo. Is that really the best you can do there?
For serious…
FFS. if I somehow get through this matchup it will be in spite of Bruce. Bastard has had someone on base for every AB hasn’t he?
Yeah, he’s gone cold as dog balls once again…
@Steve, Like Longo. Come on you bastards.
@Steve, Bruce is a useless, useless prick.
@Steve, Longo and Bruce a combined 0-8 today and Longo’s RBI didn’t even count because it was GIDP.
@Steve, Left 7 on base between them. Fools.
Yeah, both have been totally miserable… Not the Longo we needed in September for our money team…
@Grey: Man oh man… Why? WHYYYY? Mike Fiers is destroying my chances for a semifinal spot! I Stream-O-Nated him! Uhh, uhhhh… *shortness of breath* Noooo! Where’s the justice in this world, Grey? Where? Give me some hope about the final two days to come: Kendrick on Sat., Kendrick on Sun. Or will I wear the albatross around my neck?
You got two Kendricks going on two days?
@Grey, Oops. I meant to say Kendrick on Sat., Haren on Sun. My bad.
Hopefully, they do it for you, they’re not bad starts… And Haren has looked better recently…
@ Grey: Also: Crisp or Cespedes? Emergency advice needed ASAP!
Cespedes…
@GREY: What are you thoughts on Cashner/Milone Pitching Tonight? Stream seems to like the matchups but im hesistant to maybe sit milone if not both? Medlen + PRice have pitched gems for me tonight and i need to keep my era/whip LEAD- EEEK
Sorry, stepped out but would’ve said to go with Cashner…
Crisp or Cespedes?! (That’s an interrobang, BTW; and I don’t use interrobangs lightly.) Please, Obi Wan Ken-Grey: you’re my only hope.
Sorry, stepped out for a second…
My OF, the pride of my 14-teamer in which I was in first for all but one week, has batted 8 for 80 with 5 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, and 2 SB. The rest of my team, save Pedroia, has been equally shizzy.
But it’s still early. I’m holding on by a thread, thanks to decent pitching (my only 2 saves are from Wilton!) and terrible competition. There’s a good chance that this round will come down to Straily’s start against BAL.
Fingers crossed for you…
@Grey, Thanks, buddy. I don’t know why I get so worked up about this every year. H2h is so luck based that it’s like yelling at the liquor store clerk when I lose on a scratcher. WHY DIDN’T YOU GIVE ME THE JAY BRUCE THAT HITS 5 HR A WEEK???
HA! Exactly… Logan Forsythe — Scratch off winner!
Everything going wrong today. That Holliday homer puts me down 7-5.
Dammit…. It’s close though, we got that…
And sonavabenched by Hamilton and Cespesdes in the RCL. thought they were both hurt. A perfect day.
Can’t believe this. Now Ethier goes deep from my bench in h2h. Where I’m starting Bruce instead.
Eww cashner..
Ugh, I’m gonna go vomit on a salad and eat it…
@Grey, i think cashner screwed over the Razzball nation last night.. what a punch in the face!
Yeah, that hurt a lot…
You pulled the old 2fer on us with Cashner. First the streamo-matic, then the buy list. Thanks G!
@Cashners mom, that was a fluke. Ur son is nasty, and the rookies are terrible.. that really should not have happened, but thats why we play this game.
rockies*
Yeah, puke…
Quintana moved back to tuesday. Great for me cuz my opponent used his last move on him! Hahahaha not a good week for my opponent.. im gonna get up and go gangnam style now! Woooo
I was riding an imaginary horse around Little Tokoyo tonight with dark shades… Cheesy and classy!
Great f****** outing there Lopez. Just brilliant.
My ass is throbbing from Cashner…
I hope Cashner wears lipstick the next time he decides to fuck me…
Shout out to Meds for his 13 K’s, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but shout out to Bryce Bryce Baby for yet another homer. For all those concerned about my championship match up…it’s 8-5-1 me because both Wilson and Cain didn’t go at least 6 to get a QS hahahaha.
Back in the driver’s seat, but this time, instead of a school bus, it’s a nice sedan. And yes, it’s eco friendly!
Nice… Yeah, Cashner really screwed me too… Ugly, ugly start at the worst time…
Between Felix last night and Cashner tonight I am veins in my forehead that are popping out like a road map. I am gun shy to start anyone. Who is safe anymore? Damn…
Yeah, I hear that…
@Grey: One add left… Nolasco vs. Cincy, Straily vs. Baltimore or Werner vs. Colorado on Sunday? Really just need K’s, but a little ERA help would be nice. Stream-o-Nator says Nolasco (116)-Werner (111)-Straily (101) but betting my H2H league on Nolasco is terrifying.
Werner
Kris Medlen my MVP….thanks Grey!
Who would you sit for the weekend (pick one)?
Pujols @ KC
Kemp vs Stl
AJax @ Cle
Rizzo vs Pit
No problem… Rizzo…
2 moves left ROS…
Punt Fiers for Pettite or Werner?
Cats that matter: IP, W, L, K, ERA, WHIP
Werner…
Use my last pick up on Straily at home against Baltimore tomorrow? Barely leading K’s, wins, and QS.
Or, scoop Maybin, Seager, or Forsythe for the next two day and drop Ike? Barely leading homers, tied in RBI, and AVG and OPS both within .015 of each other.
I need to win 5 of these 7 categories to hold him off, so this is a pretty intense situation.
Does he have more starts? Do you? Will Maybin, who’d I choose, start? Who’s benched? Hard to tell with info provided, but I’ll say go with Straily…
@Grey, Sorry I didn’t answer any of your questions sooner. He has Kershaw, Minor, and Morrow and I just have Latos. Edwin’s stinker didn’t do much for me so I’m hoping for big things from Parker tonight. If I picked up Maybin, he would start. I’d drop Ike and bench Nelson Cruz. After that homer by Weeks, it’s now 7-6-1 him. I honestly think it’s all luck at this point. I’ll likely go with Straily to combat his pitchers and just hope my offense shows up to play. Too many factors to consider.
Yeah, I’d go Straily…
In a keeper league, would you drop any of the following for either Chris Carter or Gary Sanchez?
Frank Francisco
Welington Castillo
Mark Rogers
Wily Peralta
Logan Morrison
Jordany Valdespin
It should be noted that I’m playing for next year and beyond, not for this year.
Frank Francisco for Carter…
only 4 transactions left and need some more pitching…i had 5 pitchers go last night so can’t wait another 5 days without any…need w, k mostly who do you like this week out of (please rank top 3):
miguel gonzalez, parker, carpenter, chacin, nolasco, burnett, fiers, cobb, werner, nova, wood
Thanks!
Nolasco, Burnett, Parker…
Since i’m running out of room up top, I will continue down here because the Voice is too important to stop this breakdown.
I never like Tony Luca from last year, I thought he was a souless pussy up there. I think the Scot could actually do well if he gets the right type of songs to sing. Besides anyone who commits to that ridiculous haircut has got some balls. Someone needs to tell him the casting is over for the Bay City Rollers movie… I think i liked the Yoddler because she sang classic country, which i grew up with, so until i hear something else, I’m tainted. The mother and daughter team was a little weird cause I keep thinking menage a jack, if you know what I mean.
I didn’t like Lucca, or anyone other than that older black man that Xtina inexplicably got rid of… I ended up liking Lucca because Xtina called him out on the show for having Adam help him with his Twitter connections… My vote for Lucca was more a vote against Xtina… I don’t think the mother/daughter team has a prayer to go far in the show… They might last past one battle round, that’s about it… I thought Brain Keith was the best from the first day, and I thought Danny Rosa still wasn’t good, but it was set up for him to come back and they had to let him on the show…
@Grey, have you considered a reality analysis sight called razzeality?
I liked more people this year so far than last, but I didn’t watch all of last year. My issue is when it’s up to America, America screws it up
It’s less up to America, which has its good and bad, but really none of these people are gonna be anyone who would ever put out an album you or I would be interested in anyway… Just an entertaining show….
@Grey, I would bye Jamars from last year if it was down in a classic soul and R&B style
@Jack Full of Hate, I meant buy
He was a’ight if he had the right producer, but he’s kinda a dime a dozen without the feel good story…
@Grey, good point with the right producer, but that is almost anyone
Yeah, that is true too…
Need help picking my 14 keepers for next year. 7×6 H2H 14-team with added TB/OBP and L. Who do you keep out of this list? Having trouble balancing a lot of the borderline guys. Thanks a bunch.
http://tinyurl.com/8zzy8oc
I’m not going to look at links to teams… If you list them, I’ll look…
@Grey,
Napoli, Hosmer, Espinosa, Longoria, Aybar, Trumbo, Braun, Fowler, Hunter, Jay, De Aza, Billy Hamilton
Lincecum, Hellickson, Estrada, Harvey, Kendrick, Haren, Parker, Jansen, Betancourt, Lopez, D. Hudson, Beachy
Braun, Hosmer, Longoria, Trumbo, Hamilton, Lincecum, Hellickson, Haren, Parker, Jansen, Espinosa, Hunter, Harvey, Kendrick…
@Grey,
You like Kendrick over Beachy? I can keep Beachy on my DL spot til he’s back and probably draft Kendrick next year.
Oh then go with Beachy…
Sooo.. IF (cuz i dont like to count my chickens before they hatch) barring a miracle, i advance…
Do like any of these guys wearing pants?
Miguel Gonzalez @ SEA, Erasmo Ramirez VS BAL, Corriea @ ChC.
I have 1 add left so i want to make sum kind of move. Or do you think its wiser to find a batty call? P.S. i dont own any chickens.
HA! I like that… Erasmo… Cause SON says so, but I don’t love it if you don’t need the start…
@Grey, SON screwed me with fiers so were not on speaking terms.. although you did have a good point, in hes just wearing down. Ill give SON a call and try to work things out..
Let SON sit for tomorrow and he’ll call on you… He prefers hard to get…
@Grey, spoken like a true P.I.M.P! Haha i imagined you with a horse head in a silk robe on a lazy boy as you said that…
And a pipe, don’t forget my pipe…
@Grey, the pipe, yes, i forgot! I wish i could find that picture again… Shoulda saved it!
@Grey, does he start monday or tuesday? Yahoo has him tuesday.. so thats probably incorrect, knowin yahoo.
Looks like Tuesday, but it’s not 100%…
Is Gose getting everyday PT? He’s got 5 steals in a week, so I’m kinda digging him to help carry me to the promised land. Drop Cruz for him? I need SBs.
Sure, switch them up… He gets steals, not everyday PT…
Long, long, long…..longoriaaa!
@Prezii, Amen, brotha.
Longo, LaRoche, Konerko. My boys have busted out the whoopin’ stick today. ‘
@Steve, yeeeee!
Thanks, Hayzeus…
Kershaw not pitching tomorrow (hip). Fife starting instead.
@slew, i called kershaw and told him to push his start back again so i can have a two start week…
@Prezii, JINX alert @ Det.
@slew, Sorry Anibal
Damn, why’d you have and go and do that?
@Grey, agreed that was pretty mean..
After starting Cashner last night, my season is on the line… i need some bigtime advice on a question that you would think should almost NEVER be asked…
Please help me pick one of the remaining FA starting pitchers to use for tomorrow in a last ditch effort, for a DEEP H2H points league.
The list is a real bunch of winners:
Randy Wolf @ Oak (Straily)
Will Smith v LAA (Haren)
Jordan Lyles @ Phi (Halladay)
Blake Beavan @ Tex (Harrison)
Alex White @ SD (Werner)
Stephen Fife v StL (Wainwright)
HELP PLEASE!!!
Scoring is as follows: IP(15pts), H(-5pts), ER(-10pts), BB(-2pts), K(3pts), Win (40pts), QS(5pts), L(-15pts)
Thanks!
@joe from point pleasant, holy shit.. what if a pitcher throws a no hitter?? Thats like a billion points!!
They’re all obviously terrible… Will Smith…
Wow Rollins has been HUGE this week. 1st inning… Single, stole 2nd, stole 3rd.. hes been out of his 50 year old mind lately.. good thing steve and i didnt drop him when someone said to! *wink wink*
As for “someone” being right… Trumbo is in a straight platoon with wells… Is he droppable now? For sayyy, Crisp?
Yeah, I’d go with Crisp if you need steals…
@Grey, damn i hate to drop that guy.. so stupid! Oh well, life goes on..
Would you roll with Logan Fore-Skin or Cameron Maybe over crisp? Who woulda thunk back in june that i’d be droppin trumbo for a padre or an A…
Yeah, I know… Weird time… I’d go with Maybin…
@Grey, sounds good.. thanks!
Sounds like Kershaw could be done.
@VinWins, yeah just read that.. fingers crossed!
Damn hips…
@Grey: dodgers closer to start next week, Jensen or league?
Kenley’s not closer on his return… Could be a couple of days before he’s closing games without a set back… I’d go with League…
KERSHAW OUT TOMORROW! THERE IS A GOD! AND I THINK HE’S ROOTING FOR MY FANTASY TEAM!
@Poo Holes, Ha!
Strategy time. Tied 6-6. 5 more Ks will put me in the lead. I have Straily and Werner tomorrow and one add left. He has no one and no adds. I have a hurt Mauer and a Wise with PT issues. I’m 2 behind in runs.
What to do with the last add? Another starter to guarantee Ks or a hitter to fill my gaps? If a hitter, catcher or OF?
How many Ks do you have? Will two SPs catch him?
He has 68, I have 65.
So barring something insane, you should have Ks locked up… What outfielder can you add?
Available guys include Maybin, Fowler, Saunders, Revere, Maxwell, McLouth, Colvin.
So top of the order play every day guys are McLouth and Revere… I’d go McLouth… Especially since the O’s have to win and have to play McLouth and he homered today…
He could have Cishek and Boots pad his Ks a little today. I have Lopez and Ziegler and Betancourt…
Guess we can check back on it, but 5 Ks, if it stays at that should be doable with 2 SPs…
@Steve, i agree, straily and werner should easily surpass 5 K’s.
Another big day for Saunders…
Need 7 Ks now.
@Grey: how often is the player rater updated? Would using the player rater for next seasons draft be a good idea?
As often as the SON… There’s Point Shares and rankings for drafting… http://razzball.com/2012-fantasy-baseball-rankings/
How the fuck did Greinke only strike out 2?
Ziegler doing some work here!
Still at 7?
@Grey, He leads Ks 70-67. And runs 22-20. As well as being short-handed my hitting has been pretty limp. No one seems to be able to come round to score.
@Steve, I guess there’s a chance Wise plays tomorrow…
So now it’s down to 3? You definitely don’t need another SP then… I’d go with McLouth…
@Grey, Yeah. I do have Straily going though. Not sure I can take the anguish
Yeah, hopefully he looks every bit the prospect he showed in the minors this year…
@Grey, Hopefully Boggs doesn’t come in and strike out the side…
Is he coming in vs. the Dodgers?
@Grey, Yeah. Realize now I made a bit of a blunder picking up Ziegler for Holds. He’s playing against my other Holds guy…
Pity I dropped Affeldt. Had to, though. Needed a starter.
Looks like Boggs hasn’t struck out a hitter in over a week…
@Grey, Until now!
Oh, geez…
Rasmus and Gose are also available. Also, Dom Brown, Denorfia and Solano. Still go with McLouth?
I’d say Rasmus, but I feel mentally committed to McLouth already for you… You know?
@Grey, Yeah. And Rasmus faces Lester so that doesn’t help. I guess I’m just scared that if McLouth has a huge day it’s bad news for Straily…
Yeah, I hear ya, but if McLouth can just get 2 runs and two hits, it’s not bad for Straily (if that’s all he gives up) or McLouth… Hopefully you can win it without McLouth… This is vs. the #2 seed? #1?
@Grey, I’m falling back into your arms, Grey. I hope you’re back from the bar in time to catch me
I got ya…
Man, it would be a big help if Ethier could get around to score…
@Steve, Screw the pinch runner.
Oh, and doesn’t sound as though Mauer will be back tomorrow. Bastard.
I’ll take the Belisario vulture win in the RCL though!
hey grey
lookin at matchups for next week. probably can only start one, who do you like: aj griffin @ DET, harvey vs.PHI, cobb vs.BOS.
Cobb
Riddle me this, Batman…
I have picked up McLouth and have him in my lineup. In the unlikely event that I wake up in time and see that Wise is starting, do you prefer him over the Nate-ster?
Fine for steals, need runs…
I’d go with whoever is higher up in the order, if they’re the same, I’d go Wise…
@Grey, Yeah, woke up early, saw Wise was leading off so switched him in there. Looking ok so far, that Mauer home run a big help. In striking distance of AVG now too, but need some runs!
Just need good Ks and no pitching blowouts…
Yeah, saw the Mauer homer and thought of you and figured you got Wise in there… Hopefully he does something…
@Grey, I could still use McLouth instead of LaRoche at Util. I’m up 8-6 in HRs, probably not going to overtake him in RBIs…
@Steve, 8-7 in homers now. Curse you, Adam Dunn.
Where you at now?
FYI…Pujols is not in starting lineup today….just noticed
Thanks for the heads up!
Not sure if this is ok, but I was watching the Dolphins vs Raiders game and a guy went gangnam style after a sack…gangnam style
That’s awesome… It should be used in every possible situation…
@Grey, man i just took a great shit… Got up a gangnam styled! No?
A true imaginary horse doesn’t stop to crap, just poops right as its Gangnam Styling…
@Grey, the galloping motion helps it slide out easier… dropping a deuce gangnam style
@Jack Full of Hate, probably the worst image you could have eating a philly cheese steak.. haha
@Prezii, but are you eating it gangnam style?
@Jack Full of Hate, i was eating it gangnam style! Classy, yet very cheesy!
@Prezii, probably messy
@Jack Full of Hate, there was meat flyin everywhere with korean girls yellin “me so hony!”…
Ha, exactly…
Holy skeeters is that a mark trumbo sighting??
Probably not… Imaginary Trumbo style..
@Grey, probably just wants me to hang on to him longer…
All going wrong. Pitchers getting blasted, no Ks. He has Wieters…
just watched last nights snl, I wanted to see what they were going to do with Seth McFarlane…they went gangnam style. Its like they were looking into the collective soul of frequent commenters. sort of…
http://gothamist.com/2012/09/16/videos_snl_returns_with_gangnam_sty.php#photo-5
Eh, felt like it fell a little flat on the funny… But oppan!
@Grey, gangnam always brightens up the day, thats what i took away…and how i live
It’s a good way to live your life…
@Grey, the only way…where internet service is available
Nice caveat…
Fuck that. I’m ahead in Ks but he’s just hit his 4th homer of the day. Unless I hit another I’m fucked.
Dammit…
Fuck that.Straily killing me too. Could be all over here…
He’s out, is too late?
@Grey, It’s 6-6. He’s ahead by 1 Hr (fucking Wieters) and I’m ahead by 2 Ks, and .09 in ERA.
If I don’t get a dinger from CarGo or LaRoche, or any of my remaining pitchers (Valverde, Ziegler, Lopez) get blown up, I’m history.
Unbelievable.
@Steve, Needless to say, Valverde has me shit-scared.
@Steve, And if he hits another home run, I’m certainly screwed.
Holy crap, that’s insanely close…
@Grey, Valverde. Here we go. Jesus.
He’s not looking good either… Dah…
@Steve, damn i had to go look for myself.. thats down right pathetic that those two K pitchers only got 5 ks combined….
Grey,
I’ve had the luxury of a bye week in a 12-team OBP and have been holding on to Dunn.
Semis start tomorrow and he’s 4 for 7 with a HR. Still think he’s a drop? I picked up Daniel Murphy (1B eligibility) for possible rest dates for Dunn, but I think he’s a must start, no?
Nah, I wouldn’t drop him now… I’d start Dunn…
Is CarGo out of the game?
He is…
That’s it. I’m done. Fuck you, Valverde.
He’s been such a POS all year…
@Grey, Straily and Werner can piss off too. Their Ks are worthless now.
Maybe if Boggs gets torched, I could get back into it, but with my luck he won’t pitch.
@Steve, I led ERA by a whole fucking run at the start of the day. Cannot believe that.
You’re down in ERA by how much?
@Grey, 0.11, but I can’t see how our remaining pitchers are going to pitch.
Damn, that’s tough to swallow…
@Grey, A clean inning from Betancourt (if he gets in the game) could makes things interesting, but I doubt my luck will allow that.
@Steve, And maybe if the Cards and Rangers games go for a while and his Holliday and Cruz keep making outs and LaRoche has a big night… #clutchingatstraws
I hear ya…
The world just played a terrible joke on me and I don’t think I’ll be playing h2h again next year.
@royce!, You and me both.
@Steve, My condolences.
I lost to a team that 1. Started Hart all week, 2. Started Masterson and Chacin, and 3. Spent $25 FAAB to pick up Samardzija this week. His offense killed me by batting .245 with a .305 OBP.
@royce!, All I needed was a solid hitting day and some Ks and no disasters from my pitchers.
Hitting was good – .379 AVG, .394 OBP with a couple of dingers.
Pitching – got the Ks I needed, but an ERA of 9 and a WHIP of 2.09. Thanks a bunch, Werner, Straily and Valverde.
Of course his offense explodes and he hits 4 home runs with a .375 AVG and .447 OBP.
@Steve, Ugh, that must have been hard to watch. My opponent’s team was so bad that I actually had it tied up at 7-7, but that was before Straily’s start.
It’s probably karmic retribution for having convinced a guy to trade me Prince for Berkman and Haren in the first couple of weeks of the season…
Were you a top seed?
@Grey, Yep. I was in first for all but one week. My offense was an unstoppable force…the operative word being “was.” I could have killed in fantasy razzball this week. But I’m sure they’ll be great again next week in the “consolation” round, which will be mighty consoling!
So frustrating…
@Grey, I’m like the 2001 Mariners…
Whatever, enough sulking. I don’t think I’ve lost a roto league since 2009 (was that the first year of RCLs?) thanks in large part to razzball. So the Mariners and I don’t actually have that much in common…
@royce!, No. Keep sulking. I need the company.
@Steve, Sounds good. H2h is terrible.
You frost your hair like Bret Boone, right?
@Grey, Well, not exactly…it’s just a byproduct of all the “weight training” I’ve been doing…
You’re caught up in the wrong world, royce!! (I needed to add my own exclamation.)
Survived the Casher death spiral! On to the semi-finals.
1. Drop Straily or hold?
2. Tillman @ SEA @ BOS OR Cobb BOS, TOR @home OR neither
Thanks
1. Can lose him if you need the room… 2. Tillman
Here are my scenarios: Minor gets a quality start and I lose, Minor gets bombed and Harper and Heyward do nothing and I lose, I get one homer from either Harper or Heyward and I tie, I get more than one homer from them or miraculously end up with 8+ RBI and I win.
I can’t believe my season is in the hands of Bryce Harper.
Fingers crossed for you….
@Grey, Thanks homey, I’ll need it.
Watch Ethier hit a home run here, just to rub salt in.
Ha… Why he’s on your bench?
At least LaRoche hasn’t made things worse by hitting a home run, I suppose.
Yeah, small consolations…
H2H playoffs, you starting MadBum tomorrow at home vs. COL?
I am…
@Grey, It was the Miggy home run that actually screwed me. It put him in the lead in HRs and set up the save opp for Valverde.
No homer and Steve wins.
It came down to Valverde then in the end? Damn…
@Grey, Even if Valverde hadn’t been horrible I would have still needed LaRoche to homer, which he didn’t, so the Miggy home run was key.
Oh, gotcha… Well, you still got the roto leagues right?
@Grey, This is very true.
Not sure I can even be bothered playing for 5th/6th…
How are the roto leagues doing this year?
@Grey, I’ve fought my way back to 3rd in the RCL after a horrible post-ASB swoon, and I think I’m in third in both my keepers.
Though today in the 14 teamer it was one of those days when you think maybe it’s not going to happen, you know?
I hear ya… I was starting to battle back but I had 5 homers all week in the RCL and hit .212… Terrible time to go crazy cold…
@Grey, I started Straily, Werner, Vogelsong, Morrow and Haren – and hit .175 into the bargain!
Yikes… Yeah, I didn’t have any guys going against those pitchers, unfortunately… My pitching’s been nails for about 3 months…
@Grey, My pitching has actually been pretty decent in that league. Strasburg, Morrow, J-Zimm, Milone, Maholm, Jim J.
The Robot has helped the hitting, Holliday, Wilin and Altuve have been good too.
Doesn’t sound like a bad team at all…
@Grey, Yeah. A nice draft and some inspired in-season managing (emoticon)
@Grey, Which reminds me – I have a “how good is mike trout?” to share.
He is so good, that on the team I own him, and where my starting infield is Hosmer, Uggla and Lawrie, I’ve been in or around 1st place most of the season.
Ha… Yeah, on the two teams we have him, we’re battling for first… And those teams are very weak but AL-Only… Wait, what team is that that is in 1st all year?
@Grey, Oh – a slight exaggeration perhaps. It’s the 14-teamer that I’m in with big o and vinko. Got off to a bit of a slow start but them climbed the league. Spent a fair bit of time in 1st, but bouncing between 2nd and 3rd now.
It’s the team that royce! drafted for me.
Ah… Gotcha…
O! Whatever happened to that guy?
@Grey, word. I’ll give him a shot. You hanging on to Chapman? I don’t know what to do. It’s a keeper, but he’s clogging a roster spot and I won’t keep him anyway.
You wouldn’t keep him? He’s been a top five pitcher this year…
Chris Nelson has been on fire.
Nelson or Forsythe at 3B?
Thanks dude.
I’d go Logan but both had been solid of late…
