Another week, another promising prospect banished to AAA. Unlike Jordan Walker who should really still be in the show (please bring him back) Oscar Colas really hasn’t looked like he belongs in the big leagues so far. I was a big fan of his potential as a fourth or fifth outfielder because I thought he would start smashing the ball, and he did not. His demotion should be far from a back-breaking blow but it is saddening nonetheless. He still has tremendous upside so you pretty much have to hold him in dynasty but for redraft, you’ll need a replacement. Even if Colas wasn’t part of your squad there’s always room for another outfielder. Fortunately, there are plenty of options on waivers so let’s dive right in.

Brandon Marsh should be on your team. Seriously, what more does he have to do? He’s been great, especially for a guy you could pick up for free. You want power and a good batting average? Marsh has you covered. Don’t forget that he was well-regarded as a prospect. Hey, sometimes it takes a guy a minute to figure things out. Well, it looks to me like he’s finding his groove now. Even if you’re not looking for a Colas replacement, Marsh is well worth a pickup. And by well worth a pickup, I mean that you should already have him on your roster.

Ian Happ is on a roll. His supporting cast should allow him to put up some numbers. When he’s hot he’s hot. We all know he can be streaky and that makes him a tough player to evaluate for head to head matchups. Baseball is a streaky game by nature and Happ can absolutely be the embodiment of that. I still think there’s a spot for him on your roster because he has the upside to be way more good than bad.

Jarred Kelenic might finally be turning into something with 7 bombs and a .300 average. Now the bad news, his last week had been bad with no home runs and a batting average under .200. That’s certainly disappointing, but he does seem to have a different approach at the plate. He was well regarded as a prospect and call me crazy but I think I’m ready to be hurt again.

Jarren Duran looks different this season and I’m here for it. His BABIP is super inflated but he definitely has the speed to be above league average in that category. That’s fueling his near .400 batting average and he only has a pair of dongs so the wheels certainly could fall off and he crashes and burns. However, there’s also a chance he’s figured some things out at the plate and he doesn’t drop off too harshly. He’s free to pick up and that means you can easily pivot from him if he stops producing.

Brent Rooker has a garbage lineup around him, maybe the worst in baseball. In spite of that, he has been racking up those points. There are reasons to believe in his start. His power is absolutely real, the man can mash. His average has definitely been inflated but even when it comes down, points will be there.

Josh Lowe has been looking really good. Can he keep up, probably not, but he does have an excellent lineup around him. So there’s definite potential here but the downside is that if he doesn’t hit, they can easily replace him.

Mike Yastrzemski landed himself on the IL with a hamstring strain. If all goes well in his recovery he should be back in the lineup by the end of the month. I liked what he was doing prior to his injury and I would be surprised if he doesn’t slot right back into his usual role. That role is a platoon but his numbers have been solid. If you are in need of a fourth or fifth outfielder and have a free IL spot, he could be a nice stash. At the very least he’s someone I’m watching for news on his rehab.

Nick Senzel might actually be good. Or maybe he’s just on a hot streak. Most likely it’s the second option but over the past week, he has smashed 3 home runs and batted over .450. Looking for a quick fill-in? He’s your man. I’d also take a look at his teammate Jake Fraley (batting over .370 this past week) both are fine deep league options.
