As has been the theme since day one of this series, I’ve been stressing the fact that you shouldn’t panic. The fantasy season is still very young, (very fragile, like your mom, sure), but anything can happen in any amount of short time anywhere. SO META. For example, does anyone think they’d notice Evan Gattis going 12-for-73 in the month of June? Probably not, as the first month of the season shines an unfair spotlight on a player’s production (or lack thereof). Also, Evan Gattis isn’t really that good, which probably would have an affect on someone not noticing as well. While the majority of players (that aren’t suffering from an obvious injury or velocity loss specifically with pitchers) it’s been fairly easy for me to say, “It’s April”… well, that actually doesn’t ring true any more. Nope. Instead, I’ll just simply say “It’s May.” Now, if there are some players in a few more weeks that are wildly off their career norms, then we can talk. But until then, have patience, but here something you can do… and that’s start assessing your needs, wants, dreams and start gauging the market for those things you seek out. Excuse me while I go search the free agent wire for a date… Anyhow, follow me after the jump to take a look back at what was week four AND a look forward on all things Razzball, including some player suggestions for next week, straight from Razzball’s Streamonator, Hitter-Tron, and DFSBot!
This Past Week…
As if three times wasn’t enough (that’s what she said… makes total sense), J-FOH and JB Gilpin updated their Top-100 Hitters and Top-100 Pitchers Rankings, respectively, for the fourth time this season. I’m pretty sure they’ll do this at least 22 more times, so keep those knives and weaponized objects (like Snickers bars and alligators) ready to go for numerical subjective argumentative showdowns!
On the RazzPod, Grey and JB discussed all things RCL (which turned out to be just one thing… their, or excuse me, our RCL) and whether or not Nelson Cruz can keep his pace up the entire season. Which I guess would make it the greatest offensive season ever produced. Shane Greene is mentioned again, but I think Gilpin is just trolling because the pod’s 24/7 Milwaukee coverage finally faded into a distant memory.
Lance went over his thoughts on Rajai Davis and how he might be a long-term SAGNOF. J-FOH went over what was week 4 for our RCLs. Big Magoo dropped some knowledge on Addison Russell and whether or not Matt Holliday is a bear or a bull.
Tehol went all Game of Thrones on us (just like he did on the RazzPod for Football) again, this time focusing on Devon Travis and the High Sparrow.
Over on the prospect side of things, Mike took a look at Marco Gonzales, and if you’re into bullpens, (you sly dog you), Smokey touched on the Brett Cecil situation up in Toronto and, as an added bonus, pinpointed some holds that can be had. Hold-had, as some would say. Some as in none.
Hey, Josh Hamilton was traded! Hey, Josh Hamilton still exists! I actually had no idea, and this is coming from a guy who’s had him on his bench the entire season. I also have Shin-soo Choo there, to give context. Context on how ridiculously bad I am at this game. Regardless, Grey had some thoughts on the transaction…
And Malamoney went over Miguel Cabrera in Points Leagues, while Seth had your Deep League rundown.
Next Week…
The Streamonator really likes Carlos Frias, and I don’t blame it. That’s like my favorite side when I eat Peruvian. He’s projected as the 7th best pitcher this upcoming week and no one owns him. If that’s a red flag for you, Chris Tillman is in the top-20.
The Hitter-Tron has David Peralta as the 49th best hitter next week, just behind Starling Marte. Another outfielder you could add, just in case you think the Hitter-Tron is doing the best impersonation of the Streamonator and just throwing out random unknown names, is Alejandro De Aza, right ahead of Justin Morneau and Mark Trumbo.
And be sure to check in everyday for our Daily Fantasy content, led by Sky and company. They’ve been bringing you all the tips and strategy you need to win that cash-monies. Our DFSBot is also there to help guide your way to that aforementioned cash-monies. Mmmm, cash-monies.
Want more of the Jay? Don’t we all folks? Don’t. We. All. Well, you, in fact, can have more. AMAZING. I know. You can find Jay enjoying his dig’s over at the Football side of Razz.
