Sometimes with the SAGNOF machine it’s best to take a trip on the way back machine. Players long past their usual usefulness of SAGNOF every now and again peep their heads out from the geriatric bingo and arts and crafts tent to be a whole bunch of fantasy useful. We peer our eyes on Jose Reyes. The once polished-up steal machine formerly of NY and now back again. The end of the year flurry which we are seeing could be fueled by his pending free agency, or maybe he has found the fountain of yutes. Either way he is showing out for the final stretch and is basically a must own type entity right now. Slashing .348/.446/.582 over his last 15 and has basically repeated his counting stats in the second half of games, in half the games (83 in first half and 4 since all star break). The middle infidel spot has been a tumultuous path of futility all year with ping-ponging guys that have arguably more value from day-to-day than keeping rostered the whole year. Just to put in perspective how good he has been over the last 30 days, he has better counting stats then Alex Bregman, who is owned in 91% of leagues right now. Reyes is only owned in 32%. If apples were to apples here, I would choose the dude in the big apple because of the speed. No I am not saying dump Bregman for him, I am simply saying that comparatively Jose Reyes should be rostered. Think fast it’s on to the saves and steals news of the past week. Cheers!
Jose Peraza – Remember this draft day darling who fell off a cliff? Ownership is down near 25% and has been a roller coaster of unfun all year. Billy is no longer there and he may start seeing more time on top of the lineup. That’s a good thing…even for being on the Reds. Four steals in last 6 games and 6 over last 20.
Mike Trout – Should win MVP, sorry other AL candidates. Going to beat Gabby Harnett’s record of games played 116 to win the MVP. Mike the Fish has 96 games played with 19 to play. He is in the SAGNOF discussion because he went 20/20.
Tim Anderson – Finish strong young fella and totally ruin your draft ADP next year, big jerk. Quietly has gone 16/9 with 110 runs/RBI total. For a hot mess of a scoring team like the Pale hose that is not too bad at all. Three steals over last 8 games, and streaming towards a 18/12 total maybe for the year for a just 24 year old.
Phillip Ervin – Timing is everything with the September call-up crowd. gets regular at-bats 4 out of 6 games. So like I said timing counts. Three steals over last five games… that he has played. Definitely a guy to check for if he has the starting notifier next to him of course.
Archie Bradley – Nando cooked in the desert heat maybe. Archie got the day after save after Fernando Rodney when Chernobyl for the sixth time this year. The D-backs aren’t going to mess with the bullpen, Bradley is their best pitcher and sometimes that pitcher doesn’t always close.
Blake Parker – Well that was fast, just as fast as I said Parker had the gig they go back to a committee. If you are chasing they have 4 guys to chase. Unfortunately it may not be worth it… stupid Scioscia.
Sean Doolittle – Now that they have clinched a playoff spot watch for rotation in closing guys to keep everyone fresh and clean. See also Indians, soon. Brandon Kintzler and Ryan Madson are the adds just in case.
