We don’t welcome many guests onto the Prospect Podcast, but for John Eshleman of 2080 we make the rare exception. If you don’t know John, he’s a professional scouting analyst for 2080 Baseball. That entails writing scouting reports, capturing video, and sharing jewels of scouting info on all levels of the minors. Today’s show was an excellent conversation about a dozen or so players, in addition to a lot of picking John’s brain about scouting. It’s one of my favorite shows to date. Enjoy! As always make sure you stop by Rotowear.com, and support our sponsor by picking up some of the freshest T-shirts out there.

Ralph,

Longtime listener to both podcasts on razzball, as well as a consumer of your baseball show content..The baseball show episode with John and this episode with John have been some of the most interesting, thoughtful and captivating baseball podcast stuff I have heard.. and I consume a wide variety of baseball and prospect media.

Really appreciate and enjoy all of your work, but felt the need to comment on these efforts in particular.

@Ralph Lifshitz: no problem, i think there is a small part in a lot of us baseball nerds who wish/dream we could take the massive leap which John has taken. It was really enlightening to listen to you guys inquire about his process and experiences.

For those interested, John wound up beating me this week, although the score was much closer than it was at publication.

6-6-2, John beat me on tiebreaks (OPS) by .003. I lead OPS by .002 up until Cody Bellinger’s 1 out single in the top of the ninth in the final game of the week.

There was much heartbreak.

Hi Ralph

We have as minor league roster with three guys on it. I have Bichette, Hiura and Taylor Trammell. Whitley and Killorn are both available. Would you make a move for either of those two?

@Justin Ralph: It’s sort of 6 one way half a dozen the other. I could swap Bo for Kirilloff. But it’s close

Hi, Ralph: I have Nix and Brett Kennedy in a deep dynasty league (16 teams, 59-man rosters) and am trying to decide whether either or both are worth hanging on to for next year and beyond – any thoughts there? Thanks.

@BB: I’d hold on Nix, I like his floor in a deep league, I think he can become a decent back end rotation piece with good ratios.
