We’ve made it to the final month of the season! If you’re still here rather than being entirely focused on football, congratulations! Both on your taste in sports, but also on your (presumably) successful season as you chase either roto or playoff glory. I am happy to report that this week has a fair number […]

As the final month of the fantasy baseball season approaches, the chase for glory intensifies. In this week’s Top 100 Hitter rankings for the rest of the 2024 fantasy baseball season, we sift through the best performers to spotlight those whose bats are scorching and those who’ve cooled off at the wrong time. This time of year, rankings are more volatile than ever with players swinging from hero to zero in the blink of an eye. The difference between a hot streak and a slump can make or break your season especially as the playoffs begin. Being on top of your team and the waiver wire could be all it takes to tip the scales in the last dash to the finish. For this last version of the 2024 season, I thank you for visiting, debating and most of all being the best readers around. Let’s all hope these rankings guide you through the frenzy of the closing weeks, where every day could be the difference between triumph and heartbreak.

1. Red Sox OF Kristian Campbell | 22 | AAA

He’s only been in Triple-A for eight games, but Campbell is slashing .303/.410/.606 with three home runs, two steals, five strikeouts and six walks. On defense, he’s played third base, shortstop and center field in those eight games. He played second base and both corner outfield spots in other stops along the way. The Red Sox are three games out of the final wild card spot, and here they’ve got this lightning-hot hitter who can play all over the field. Nick Sogard is playing second base in Boston and has a 47 wRC+ through 14 games. Might as well see if Campbell can do better than that. Should also note here that Trevor Story began a rehab assignment Friday night, but I’d take Campbell over Story in a heartbeat if I were captaining a playoff push.

Good morning, afternoon or evening depending on when you are reading this or where you are reading this. Welcome back for another chapter of Up-and-Coming Dynasty Players.

This week the spotlight turns to the Great White North and shines on Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Bowden Francis. In case you haven’t been paying attention to the world of baseball lately, Francis is coming off a start in which he carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning against the Los Angeles Angels.

As an encore on Thursday against Boston, his first start since facing the Angels, Francis took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and finished the night with on runs allowed on one hit and no walks and five strikeouts in seven innings of work.

A Little Background

Francis was first drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 18th round of the 2016 draft out of Chipola College in Marianna, FL. Francis did not sign with the D-Backs and the moved paid off as he was drafted in the seventh round one year later by the Milwaukee Brewers.

The 6-foot-5 right-hander pitched two full seasons in the Brewers’ system before being traded to the Blue Jays on July 6, 2021, along with Trevor Richards for Rowdy Tellez.

The trade was one that did not send shockwaves through baseball, and it didn’t look for Toronto at the outset as Tellez had a massive season for the Brewers in 2022 when he slugged 35 homers and drove in 85 runs. However, it is a trade that appears to be paying off for Toronto now. Tellez is now in Pittsburgh where he is a having an average season at best. Meanwhile, Francis is establishing himself as a solid major league starter.

Welcome back to Razzball Ambulance Chasers, your rousing fantasy baseball injury report! Folks, I won’t mince words: many players have been fingered this week. Ope, that’s not what I meant to say.
