Baseball is back, and the Cookie Shop is once again open for business! Why a cookie shop? Because there needs to be some sort of hook for this column, and I bake a lot of cookies. So, while there is the obvious and straightforward description given for each tier, each is also assigned a type of cookie. […]

We are a full three days into the regular season and rolling into our first hitter profiles of the 2025 campaign. While it’s still very early, any reaction to actual performance should be taken with a significant grain of salt. Managers have invested heavily in their high-round picks, and even with slow starts, it’s important to give those players a chance to earn their keep. On the flip side, these early free-agent days are often when savvy owners make moves by cutting the last player on the bench for a flier showing increased skill or playing time. This week, we’re jumping around the league over the first few days of the season to dissect lineup choices and how they impact the value of our hitters. Spring training often gives us a glimpse of managerial preferences, but once the regular season starts, we get a true feel for where a player will hit in the lineup. Buckle up for this quick-hitter version of hitter profiles as we circle the bases like the Yankees facing Nestor Cortes.

How good does it feel to be back to baseball? We’ve been off for five months, but it feels like it’s been years. I’ll be providing my typical streamers piece every week, as I’ve done for the last five years, and I can’t wait to dive into it. With that in mind, let’s take a […]

Guardians 1B Kyle Manzardo is at 0.4 WAR already thanks to a double, triple, homer and walk in his five plate appearances. Seems high for a day’s work, but that’s a good day. I still think they should’ve held onto Naylor, but it’ll sting slightly less if Manzardo becomes a capital-g Guy.

Tigers OF Ryan Kreidler appears to be Detroit’s short term solution for center field while Wenceel Perez takes “at least a month” to convalesce. Bad backs can linger, as you probably know, dear reader, so Kreidler might have quite a bit of runway in front of him if he performs. On the other hand, the club traded for Brewer Hicklen Saturday, and he stole 44 bases last season, so we should keep an eye on him, too.

At this time last year, Cam Smith was playing college baseball for the Florida State Seminoles. Fast forward one year and Smith is now playing in the majors, starting in right field for the Houston Astros on Opening Day.

The road to The Show has been quick for Smith, who was not drafted out of high school. Only 22 years old, Smith has played in only 32 minor league games. But after an impressive spring training, he forced his way into the Astros lineup.

Let’s dive in and take a look at Cam Smith.

Aaaaand we’re back! I heard they were doing another season of baseball throwing and hitting. They might add robot umpires and new AI generated players in addition to Ohtani. Also, all the Yankees are gonna have big bushy beards, the A’s are homeless squatters who play for the peanut shells you discard mid-game and Kate […]

*nudges the Fantasy Baseball Buy/Sell, and it doesn’t move* “Oh my God, the Fantasy Baseball Buy/Sell is dead!” Drowsily, the Fantasy Baseball Buy/Sell wakes on the couch, “I’m not dead, you idiot. I’m hungover. Could you please stop screaming?” “Woo hoo! The Fantasy Baseball Buy/Sell is alive!” Rubbing temples, sitting up and asking, “What time […]

Happy Opening Week! I couldn’t be happier to finally be writing about actual games that are happening after a long offseason of drafting. Well, I could be happier if Jared Jones and Shane McClanahan weren’t injured, but gotta keep moving forward, no? As we settle into the beginning of the season, this week we’ll check […]
