Phillies RHP George Klassen (22, A) was not particularly effective as a college pitcher, posting ERAs of 5.72 and 14.09 in his two seasons as a Golden Gopher in Minnesota. Nonetheless, he showed enough plus stuff for the Phillies to select him in the sixth round of the 2023 draft. When he started generating hype this spring as a pitch-lab find for Philadelphia, I was skeptical because it’s hard to just hand-wave those kinds of outcomes. Plus, 22-year-old college pitchers should fare well against Low-A hitters. Even so, Klassen’s gone full Pickle Rick this year. His 0.33 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 34.3 percent strikeout-minus-walk rate are eye-popping numbers that suggest he’s already graduated from that level, skills wise. He might be in High-A right now if not for a short trip to the injured list. His three-pix mix now includes a four-seam fastball at about 98, a cutter at ~90 and a curveball at ~86; all three play as plus.

Sometimes when a player is called up they find instant success like Jared Jones. And others, despite a great track record, experience a few growing pains as they adjust to the MLB level. Gavin Stone was shelled early and often during 2023 in his first taste of the majors despite finishing 2022 as the Dodgers’ […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?I didn’t know there was a save button. To backtrack, I’m on too many platforms. I joined the TGFBI on the NFBC site, my home leagues are on Yahoo, my dynasty is on Fantrax, and I joined a random one on ESPN. I’m not here to critique any site; the trouble is having too many […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Listen, I’m a Seattle Mariners fan, but I’m also a realist. The offense is not particularly threatening and Nestor Cortes has had his fair share of good starts. Nestor is coming off a 28.2 point performance where he gave up 0 ER on 5 hits while striking out 6. He does show a pattern of […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Superlatives, friends, are floating away, just out of our grasp, but let’s try. Precede with accolades: Ranger Suarez (7 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 1.36) moved his record to 9-0. He’s the 4th pitcher in the Live Ball Era with nine wins through his first 10 starts, and an ERA of […]

Please, blog, may I have some more? Here we are. Back with SAGNOF stories once again as we approach Memorial Day. Had to skip last week’s article as real life sometimes gets in the way of Fantasy life, and between the full time job and travel and the kid’s sports seasons just couldn’t find the time any evenings last week to whip […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?As we approach Memorial Day and the week eight recap of the Razzball Commenter Leagues our leagues standings have stabilized a bit. Those teams who got out to 30 point leads at the end of April have drifted back to the pack (hopefully) and even those teams who were sitting in last place (I had […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?I was out manning the BBQ on a Saturday night while the chicken thighs sizzled and I started thinking about my lineup that I had been building for the $555 Walk Off HR. Once a month or so I like to play a single bullet in a higher stakes contest to sharpen my thinking. It […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Grey and B_Don are back for another episode of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast. We open with the David Fletcher news as we wonder what kind of back room casino is running out of the Angels facility. Then, it’s on to a couple of the top bats from the last week in Bryson Stott and […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? You’ve heard of the Rip Van Winkle fairy tale, right? Guy who falls asleep for 20 years then wakes to a very different world? Yeah, one part of that not many people talk about is Chapter 8 called, “Post Post Post Post Post Post Post Post Post Post Post Post Post Post Post Post Post […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Happy Monday, Razzball faithful! Well, it looks like I got ahead of the newest rush of Skibidi Skenes madness last week as our lede from 7 days ago threw an absolute gem on Friday night. 6 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 11 K, and 100 pitches thrown? Oh yes. Do we polish up the Cy […]
