Don’t get it twisted, ok I got it twisted. I decided to change things up and switch to recommending an offensive player as my lede today. I’ll admit it’s been tough to pick pitchers this season and I need to shake things up. Let’s move on to my pick of the day Andrew McCutchen. I had McCutchen in my write up last Sunday when he went off for 3 home runs. I’m not expecting him to repeat that last performance, however, I’m banking on him to hit a least one today. The price tag is steep at $10,000 but he is the 2nd best hitter against left handed pitching this season behind Nolan Arenado. McCutchen only has has 18 home runs on the year and 8 of them are from lefties. To expand further on this less than a 1/3 of his at bats have been against lefties this year. He is batting .325 against lefties this season. What I’m saying is don’t be the guy without Cutch in your lineup today.

Chris Archer, SP: $21,900– All signs point to Archer today. He is the most expensive starter slotted on the day. This should be the favorite for cash game play today. The Brewers have the highest K percentage against right handed pitching this season. Archer also pitches better at home. This game also has the lowest o/u at 7.5.
Jameson Taillon, SP: $15,600 – There is some risk with this pick as Taillon has let up 17 runs in his last 7 innings. Taillon has struggled mightily on his last two starts which may drive ownership down. The Pittsburgh trainer confirmed he’s not dealing with any injuries but we all can take that with a grain of salt. I wouldn’t use him in cash games but I will definitely put him in some GPP lineups due to his upside at this price.
Ricky Nolasco, SP: $14,800 – Originally, I had Severino here but I had to change my pick when I noticed how dominant Nolasco has been against the Athletics this season. He has put up 18 k’s in 18 innings with a 2.95 ERA. If you need extra room for bats today Nolasco is a cheap arm that will give you some extra money to play with.
Victor Martinez, IF: $6,000 – V-Mart is no stranger to Ubaldo Jimenez. Martinez has 4 home runs against Ubaldo and holds a .324 average against him. He hasn’t had a great season thus far but his price cheap and is nice salary dump for a potential dong.
Tommy Joseph, IF: $8,400 – Let’s take a step into Colorado today. Clearly there are better bats available in this game today, however, none at this price exist. Joseph has been awful lately but I think he’s worth a flyer against Jeff Hoffman today.
Mike Moustakas, IF: $7,600 – Reverse splits! The most flexible guy on the Royals is Moustakas. Unfortunately, we don’t get to count stats for both games today however the game that does count is against lefty Marco Gonzales. Moose has 8 home runs against lefties this year and is a cheap bat.
Jonathan Schoop, IF: $9,000 – Schoop there it is. Schoop is one of the top guys on the HitterTron to go deep today. It should come as no surprise as the guy has been amazing this season. He has 3 dongs in his last 10 games and gets a favorable match up against Anibal Sanchez and his 5.83 ERA.
Giancarlo Stanton, OF: $9,300 – He gets a juicy matchup against the rookie Sims who was just called up a few weeks ago. Sims is a good pitcher but I don’t think he’ll overcome the nerves and hitter friendly park in this matchup.
Adam Jones, IF: $7,600 – I’ll likely be doing a couple Orioles stacks today depending on how the lineup shakes out. I think we’ll see the runs pile up on both sides of this game.
Mookie Betts, OF: $10,400 – Betts price makes me a little hesitant to plug him into a lineup but I feel confident in this matchup. Betts should make some noise today as he goes up against league veteran Mike Pelfrey. Definitely a multi steal game for Betts today.
Tommy Pham, OF: $9,300 – Homer Bailey is on the mound today which could get ugly for the Reds. Pham has been one of the most consistent hitters in this lineup and has earned himself a low spot in the order. I will admit it appears Bailey has started to settle in lately, however, I think that will make the ownership low on Pham today. Not only does he have a shot at a homer today, he also can swipe a bag or two.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
As of early this morning there does not appear to be any threat of PPD’s. We’ll need to keep an eye on the Ranger vs. Twins to make sure there are no issues. The wind will be blowing out to right field at Fenway today at 15 MPH.
Doing Lines In Vegas
I’ll ask to direct your attention to the highest favorite on the day which is the Red Sox over White Sox at -225. I would stay away from both pitchers in that game as it should be a battle of the offenses. The 4 games with a run total 10 or higher is Tigers vs. Orioles, Red Sox vs White Sox, Rangers vs. Twins and Phillies vs. Rockies.
