Before anyone else beats me to it, just call me number four, or #4 for short. The host of the Razzball Podcast has finally reached it’s lowest point… Yours truly. Who decided I should host two podcasts let alone one?!? That man’s name is Albright, Grey Albright, and he is the Fantasy Master Lothario, Protector of the Realm, Giancarlo Stanton Stalker of more than 500 Feet Henceforth. Don’t try and tell me you’re not interested in listening to Grey’s giddy cackling about Giancarlo between breathy moans. I know you do, so we do that. We also discuss Shohei Ohtani, Zack Cozart and Ian Kinsler to the Angels, The Marlins fire-sale, Ronald Acuna’s callup date, and much, much more. Finally, please make sure to support our sponsor by heading over to RotoWear.com and entering promo code “SAGNOF” for 20% off the highest quality t-shirts in the fantasy sports game. Hey Ralph,
Great podcast, as usual. The Angels making decent moves for once… weird. SOME health from their starters could put them in a good place.
Separately, any word on that 16 team league with the two openings? I sent my email off a week and a half ago and have heard nothing either way. Thanks for any update.
@Tweak: I’m not sure, I’ll check.
Yeah the Angels newer regime has done things the right way. They’ve done well the past few drafts.
Ralph
Any prospects this with elite closer potential, a la Joe Jimenez. Speaking of which, what about him, too?
Thanks for all you do.
@The Liquidator: Check out JP Sears, but it might be a lot of failed starters that turn into the best ones.
A.J. Minter is one of my favorites at the moment. Me thinks Sandy Alcantara ends up a closer, and there’s other’s like that. The Brewers could keep Hader in the pen, Tanner Scott could be a solid pen arm, Andres Munoz of the Padres is 18 was in the Arizona Fall League, throws really hard, and has a hard breaking slider, though he’s 18 he might be up in the next year or two. I think Hunter Harvey might end up in relief. There’s so many that could end up in those roles. Tucker Davidson from the Braves might a be a solid off the radar one to check out too, he was converted into a starter during the season, but with ATL depth at SP he might be moved back.
@Ralph Lifshitz: Thanks! It sounds like you are saying that there isn’t anyone really destined for elite closerism (if that’s a word), but rather that someone might have elite closerism thrust upon them.
I like Minter, too, but I have some injury concerns with him. Maybe I could get Alcantara off the disappointed Cards fan than owns him. I think you mentioned Munoz in a podcast, didn’t you? All possibilities….
Grey,
I am putting bids in on Brett Gardner and Scooter Ginnett. I am drafting Ohtani in my minor league league draft at #1. When I get him I will have to drop someone to make room for him. You would drop Gardner for Ohtani right?
I’d prefer Ohtani
should I withdraw the bid for Gardner and leave the slot open for Ohtani.
If you’re just gonna drop Gardner, not sure I understand why you’d draft him
I just got outbid for Gennett. Who should I bid on now from the list from before?
Gardner
@Grey: Phew!
So does gray like or not like Healy :)
I was confused.
Don’t anyone tell Grey he likes someone !!!
Ok he’s worth drafting in all leagues , that’s insightful .
Good stuff guys , thanks .
@GP: Yeah he likes Healy, I’d rather go with a Reynolds, Morrison, Alonso a little later, but Healy might have more upside.
Thanks for the shout out !
@J-FOH: Well I couldn’t broach a topic we discussed without crediting it back! Haha
@Ralphsico Mejia: you can call me FOH for short
@J-FOH: I like to say your full name. It carries more weight, he’s JACK FULL OF HATE!
@Ralphsico Mejia: like a good a crap
@J-FOH: I had an awesome one today. Gave my body the shakes.
@Ralphsico Mejia: Ive been told I have that same effect on people
Was hoping you’d be the one to take the torch! Mind if I poll you for an early keeper question?
12 team H2H league
-OBP and OPS instead of AVG
-QS and W (so SPs who regularly go 6+ are worth a little more)
-shallow rosters (3 OF, no MI/CI, 1 C, small bench), so always good talent left at end of draft / on the wire . . . I got guys like Nola for $3 and Upton for $10 at the end of the draft because people’s slots were already taken or they blew money on first rounders.
Keep 5 from the below guys (2018 prices, $260 budget):
Hoskins ($5)
Upton ($13)
Goldy ($52)
Harper ($58)
Domingo Santana ($5)
Dozier ($27)
Devers ($5)
Olson ($5)
Severino ($4)
Kershaw ($58)
Nola ($7)
@Duda Want to Build a Snowman?: Severino, Nola, Hoskins, andd I’d pick Goldy and Harper and let everyone else go.
I like Sunday Santana’s $ but I think he’s due to regress.
@Ralphsico Mejia: thanks! I like it. I had penciled in Upton and Santana in those spots but I’m digging going in on the pricey studs.
Your weed convention sounds like a PBS telethon
Haha
@Grey: We phone chatted this weekend after this and he said all the hot girls there were from California companies. We have the best export here
It’s our number one export. Gang violence is a close second.
@Grey: haha…do remember bangin’ in little rock on HBO?
Nah, I don’t, but I just Googled it and now I wanna watch it…
@Grey: they played it like shawshank
Surprised I missed it then
The thing about the bitcoin story is ita not like the bitcoin price went from one penny or even less than a penny to 18000 overnight. So the person would have to have held them for a long time. And lets say last year when it was tradinng like 20× less than it is now, im sure a lot of people sold to capture the value only to see it go up a ton more to where it is now. Theres a gona be a lot of stories like that.
I know, but still it’s crazy
@Grey: on your take on Jeter and the new ownership of the Marlin’s rebuild i think you are being unfair.
The Marlins have a slim profit margin and Loria had no intention of keeping giancarlo past this last season if returns didnt improve (which they didnt and Loria sold the team)
Look at giancarlos contract. 2015, 2016 and 2017 his salary was suppressed and will ecalate a ton starting this season. The marlins have only paid him about 30 million since 2015, 3 seasons ago when he signed the deal of the 325 million he is owed. As a business they simply can not afford to continue to try to improve and pay giancarlo 300 million at the same time. And as u said they were still a couple of impact players away from even a wildcard birth last year (maybe) so they decided to start fresh.
I hear ya, so that means they can never have a player of Giancarlo’s caliber? Because, while he was expensive, that’s how much players cost…
@Grey: i think the market is gona drop some. A lot of teams being more careful. Just look at this offseason. JD Martinez gona get way less than he is hoping for.
All im saying tho is people are piling on Jeter unfailry. He inherited this escalating monster contract and faced a team with a ton of holes in a small market.
And to me by the way giancarlos contract is structured Loria planned on trading him before his cost escalated. I could be wrong
Yeah, that makes sense, but Giancarlo is a once in a lifetime player, don’t think JD is that guy, and if you have a once in a lifetime guy, you have to lock him up for his career… No matter where he is, he’s gonna be that valuable, and if Marlins can’t afford that contract, they’ll never be able to afford a player of Giancarlo’s caliber…
@Grey: last post. With that once in a lifetime player who just had a career year and nl mvp season and as Ralph would say an all star lineup around him the Marlins won 77 games.
@Willy Mo: They shouldn’t have been approved in the first place.
Ralph – sup with that sarcastic full of pity intro for the Master Lothario himself? hahaha
i like how Grey spins everything. you better work on that – you should add a theme song very much like a wrestler
@Member Berries: Hahaha Grey is a spin artist!
Ralph,
I am looking for more bat to fill my roster. These are my choices:
Pujols
Han-Ram
Scooter Ginnett
Tulo
Gardner
V-Mart
Reddick
Hicks
Brandon Phillips
Zobrist
Mauer
Who should I bid on now with a 12th round pick? I need a list in order of who I should bid on if I get outbid on one. THanks Ralph
@Scott Kimmel: Gardner, Scooter, Hanley, Reddick, Hicks, and the rest I wouldn’t touch.
I am going to draft two, and then drop one to make room for Ohtani. So which two should i draft and then drop which one for otani
@Scott Kimmel: logic would say draft Gardner plus any other player. then drop the other player…
@Vincent Vega: exactly
Looking for this on sticher… you guys still on sticher or do I need to switch over to apple podcasts? Either way keep up the good work fellas.
@TobiasFunkeAnalRapist: I thought so, I’ll have to look into it. The android link is below.
@TobiasFunkeAnalRapist: Just checked, it’s there.
@Ralph Lifshitz: Great work, I like the new dynamic with just the two of you.
