The tight pants bursting on the mound, gave proof through the day, that our DFS plays were still there. Oh, sorry, you caught me in a moment of singing about my favorite DFS play today, Robbie Ray ($10,800). What a stud Ray has been this year huh? 11.7 K/9 and a 2.2 BB/9 will do that for a pitcher. I remember it was a bit of a running joke during draft season how high the Razzball crew was drafting Ray, but who’s laughing now? Ray gets to face the, uh…Rays today, interesting. The Rays rank at the top of the league in team strikeouts and I am just drooling over what Robbie Ray is going to do them. Expect fireworks and expect many points in your DFS lineups. I hope everyone has a happy and safe Fourth of July and we all make a little extra moolah.

Editor’s Note: If you’re a loyal Sunday reader, you will realize that I am not MikeJacob. Mike decided to let freedom ring and will no longer be writing for Razzball. That means we’ll be looking for a writer to fill-in on the remaining Sundays for the season. If you have always wanted to give writing a shot, now’s your chance. Coming in halfway through the season means you’d only be on the hook for about 12 articles. In exchange, you gain access to all of Rudy’s DFS and season-long tools for free. It’s such a great deal. Many of our DFS writer’s have even turned their DFS gig into a gig writing for the main site. Just thought I’d toss that out here since we’d always prefer a loyal Razzball reader to a random Twitter follower any day. Let me know in the comments if you’re interested and I’ll get in touch. Now, back to the DFS plays.
Freddy Peralta, SP: $9,900 – Perhaps you prefer a few more expensive bats and need to save some cash. I have some cheaper pitcher options too, depending on how low you want to go. Peralta has almost the same strikeout upside as Ray (12.6 K/9 on the season) but that 3.8 walk rate means more trouble is easily found. The Pirates, fortunately, rank dead last in team OPS. I love Freddy here, it’s just, he’s on the road and I prefer the Ray’s ability to strikeout over the Pirate’s low OPS. Strikeouts pay the DFS bills.
Charlie Morton, SP: $9,000 – We get to target all my favorite teams today it seems. The Marlins rank in the top ten in team strikeouts and are second only to the Pirates in lowest team OPS. Yahtzee! Morton has been a bit hit or miss lately, but one thing that has been hitting are the strikeouts. He’s gone for 7, 11, and 7 in his last three starts (someone get this guy to a craps table!). I like Morton to hang some Ks on the Marlins today.
Chris Flexen, SP: $7,000 – Now we’re really bargain-basement shopping. You can stack all kinds of bats with Flexen and you get the benefit of your starter facing the Rangers. The Rangers are yet another bottom ten team in OPS and rank eleventh in team strikeouts. Flexen is at home in this one and I like him to come away with a win.
Willson Contreras, C/1B: $2,600 – I always love moving a catcher into this spot on FanDuel as a way to differentiate my lineup. Wade Miley seems to be defying everything that says he should be terrible and I don’t get it. I’m simply betting that a 3 ERA doesn’t last the season and there will be plenty of blow-ups. I like the Cubbies to blow-up today.
Patrick Wisdom, C/1B: $2,600 – If you’d rather not play a catcher here, or if Willson rests, Wisdom is a perfect fill-in and has the bop to win a GPP for you.
Luis Arraez, 2B: $3,000 – Cheap and boring, but so reliable, that about sums up Arraez. Luis should be hitting at the top of a Twins lineup taking on Brad Keller and his 6+ ERA. That means he’s primed for run-scoring, FanDuel point-creating goodness.
Manny Machado, 3B: $3,600 – we’re paying up at 3B today. The Padres seem like they are stackable every day and Vince Velasquez doesn’t change that today. I like every Padre today to get in on the action on Velasquez who can implode at any moment.
Kris Bryant, 3B: $3,400 – More jumping on the Miley blow-up here. Bryant will be right in the middle of that action.
Fernando Tatis Jr., SS: $4,500 – Sometimes, you just have to pay up for the best player on the slate. That’s Tatis today, don’t leave him out.
Kyle Tucker, OF: $3,400 – The Astros are maybe the hottest team going right now and Cal Quantrill isn’t going to do much to slow them down. If Tucker has recovered from his back spasms, he’s primed for a big day along with the rest of the Astros lineup.
Teoscar Hernandez, OF: $3,400 – Our BvP play of the day, Teoscar has four dongs off Yarbrough in 23 PAs. That’s good enough for me to lock him in.
Wil Myers, OF: $2,300 – We’ll end the article with some cheap-o options. I’m always on the lookout for cheap options in a team stack to round out a lineup. Myers is nothing but cheap pop but could find himself in the middle of a scoring barrage.
Jake Marisnick, OF: $2,100 – The Cubs do funny things, like sitting Joc Pederson for Jake Marisnick against Wade Miley, bCauSe hE’s a LEfTy. I don’t know, we could around and around about that, but regardless, Marisnick could be in there and is near min-priced. Min-price exposure to Wade Miley blow-up is good enough for me.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Looks like the weather will cooperate today for fireworks. Speaking of fireworks, it’s hot and humid in Cincy today, prime Wade Miley blow-up weather!
Doing Lines In Vegas
There are many high over/unders today including a 10 run total in KC, so maybe go a little heavier on the Twinkies. A 9.5 run total in Toronto has me a little nervous for Robbie Ray but the Jays are -170 so I’m hoping all that offense is the Jays jumping on Yarbrough. Peralta and the Brewers appear to be the biggest favorites today at -185, so Freddy might be a “safer” play today, but I still prefer Ray’s strikeout upside.
