Welcome Back! It’s been an exciting week, we got to watch the “corn” game this week (Thanks Tony L.) we had a pitcher starting his 1st game throw a no-hitter (Woof Padres) even Triston McKenzie flirted with a perfect game yesterday (Oy Vey). Today starts the beginning of another great week only 6 more to go let’s dive into it. We got a nice tidy 10 game slate and there is a pitcher that caught my eye right away. Carlos Hernandez ($7,100 ). I know you are all scared of the Astros hitters and all but hear me out. This guy can throw heat (98 MPH) does not allow HR (4 in 46 INN) K% is outstanding and limits hard contact. You would like to see him limit the BB’s but he commands 5 pitches and if he is off on a pitch, he can adjust to other pitches to get the hitter out. He has a veteran C to throw too so hopefully if Hernandez gets into trouble Salvy will be there to guide him through. Astros had to travel yesterday after a loss against the Angels and Reid Detmers so there could be some fatigue and I think this is a great letdown spot for Hernandez to capitalize on. No one will be playing him because some of the other options on the board (Cole, Gausman, Montas) are all on the board today so you will be different than most people and that’s what you got to do sometimes to reach the top.

SP- Touki Touissant ($7,900) The shine has dulled a little on Touki but I think the stuff is still there. The Marlins haven’t seen him this year yet and the last time Touki faced an NL East opponent (Phillies) he struck out 10 and went 7 INN. Small sample size but Touki has pitched well away from home and the Marlins park is pitcher-friendly. A good spot here and again, not many people will be willing to take a chance on him today.
C/1B- Buster Posey ($3,400) Had a nice Sunday off yesterday so Buster will be rearing to go today against a lefty and Rich Hill. Posey hits Hill well .500 Avg .700 SLG and 1.224 OPS. You just got to hope other people aren’t doing a good job of research as this looks like a must-play to me.
2B- Jonathan India ($3,800) What a nice little player India has turned out to be. Counting Stats all over the place, doesn’t hurt you in your lineup, and is coming off a great day yesterday. I bet he steals you a base today and faces a lefty in Steele which he bats .333 and a .895 OPS against southpaws.
3B- Patrick Wisdom ($3,300) I like Wisdom here to hit a HR against Cy Miley, Wisdom has had a lukewarm start to August but the power hasn’t disappeared as he hit HR in 2 games in a row last week against the Brewers. Nice friendly hitter’s ballpark today in Cincy so Wisdom is set up nice here.
SS- Fernando Tatis Jr. ($4,500) To fade or not to fade. I mean what a decision right. Tatis in Colorado against Senzatela (whew). He will be wildly popular but how do you not want to click his name right now. I would much rather have him in with the masses than watch him go off again today and not have him in. I’ll take the chalk on this one and hope my pitchers carry me.
OF Wil Myers ($3,500) I think since Myers sat yesterday, he won’t sit again and Pham will be the one out today. Myers has been hitting the ball hard in August and now has to fight for playing time with Tatis moving to the OF. I think Myers will have a chip on his shoulder if he gets the start today in the friendly confines of Coors Field.
OF- Adam Duvall ($3,400) Another affordable power hitter in Duvall facing his former team and the Marlins. Although Duvall has had a subpar August. He did barrel one up on Saturday and that’s what you are hoping for here against a lefty and Braxton Garrett.
OF- Cedric Mullins ($3,200) Priced-down for some reason, I’ll take the benefits here of a leadoff hitter who can steal me a base, hit a HR, and score me some runs. Faced a TBD pitcher for the Rays but I’m not worried about who it is TBH.
UTIL-Yoan Moncada ($2,700) Not a fabulous August so far for Moncada but he is priced right and I think the trajectory is pointed up for him to break out sooner than later. Most of his power comes from the left side and he will be facing a righty in Montas today. I think he gets him for a bomb.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Looks good for the most part, but (Chi Vs. Cin) has some rain lurking but shouldn’t be enough for a rainout, maybe a delay at worst
