When J.D. Martinez really began hitting well for the Tigers, there was a lot of fishing around for where the production came from. He was a low round draft pick who had gotten himself pretty well regarded in Houston but then didn’t pan out. There’s always gonna be the whispers speculating steroids, and the people who just say he was a late bloomer. I think the answer is simple: just watch him hit. If he reminds you at all of Miguel Cabrera, his teammate, that’s because that’s who he modeled his swing after. Today, both of these guys, clones now of each other, will need to be in your lineup against the lefty Danny Duffy, and you shouldn’t think twice about it.

New to DraftKings? Scared of feeling like a small fish in a big pond?  Well reserve your spot in the 25 Team Razzball Exclusive League set to run Monday June 20th to wet your DK whistle.  Just remember to sign up through us before you do.  It’s how we know you care!  If you still feel helpless and lonely, be sure to subscribe to the DFSBot for your daily baseball plays.

Aaron Nola, SP: $9,600 – Toronto has a potent offense, and that might scare some people away. I believe that Nola’s stuff can transcend this offense and pitch a gem regardless of who he’s facing.

Kyle Gibson, SP: $5,000 – This is a cheap risk. I’m playing on the fact that the Yanks’ have pretty weak bats all around, so he’s worth a high risk, high reward play that allows us to have a lot of stud hitters.

Cameron Rupp, C: $3,600 – Somehow I do this way more often than I intend; I’ve got Nola’s battery mate here picked. He’ll have no problem with the southpaw J.A. Happ. Also, I just typed his name ‘happy’ before correcting myself, because he won’t be happy when he faces big Cam tomorrow.

Miguel Cabrera, 1B: $4,900 – The cloned

Josh Harrison, 2B: $3,300 – This is the situation of a hitter who likes to swing in J-Hay and a pitcher who likes to throw strikes in the immortal Bart. No worries for me about Josh hitting a few balls hard.

Manny Machado, 3B/SS: $4,800 – Get Manny in before his suspension. That was a sweet right hook he threw at Yordano, although not quite as great as Odor’s. The first two sentences were in last week’s piece as well, so just keep an eye out if he starts serving the suspension.

Corey Seager, SS: $5,200 – I just love Corey Seager’s swing. It is evidence that lefty swings are definitively more beautiful than righty.

Joc Pederson, OF: $4,200 – Might as well get Corey’s baby faced friend in here as well to drop some bombs!

Ryan Braun, OF: $4,000 – Why is Ryan Braun lower than Joc Pederson? That’s all you should have to ask before you put him in.

J.D. Martinez, OF: $5,200 – The clone.

I’m Only Happy When it Rains

I see clear weather on the docket for tomorrow. Only problem I’m having is in regards to viewing, because Game Six is at 9:00 and the USA quarterfinal game against Ecuador is at 9:30… Get your baseball watching in in the earlier hours, folks.

Doing Lines in Vegas

The one game that could be worth attacking is the 9.5 over/under that is Boston-Baltimore. A weak pitching matchup helps the cause here.

That’s all for today. Have fun in this great summer of sports spectating!
