Anyone? Buehler? Walker Buehlerone of the LA Dodgers’ best pitching prospects, is getting the call-up to face the Miami Marlins. He had a rough go-around last year in relief appearances in his brief taste of big league ball, but nothing a match-up versus one of the worst-hitting teams can’t fix. He has been sharp in his three AAA starts and has a solid chance to record a win, as the Dodgers are huge favorites. Marlins are carrying a .588 OPS against RHP, and have only managed to hit .218 during that time. Strikeout potential is also there, as the Marlins ranked in the top 10 in Ks. If you are willing to risk, you can load up on some big bats and score some value with Buehler. Let’s take a look at the rest of the picks….

 PITCHERS

Carlos Carrasco, P: 1 ER in his last two starts (16 IP) and now gets the struggling Baltimore Orioles offense, who rank 2nd in the league in strikeouts, so Carrasco has a great opportunity for a double-digit strikeout type day. He would be my number one pitcher of the night.

Gio Gonzalez, P: Has been living dangerously with the amount of walks he is giving up, but has pitched his way around them. Nothing scary about the match-up against the SF Giants, as they rank in the bottom 5 in runs scored for the season. Against Southpaws, they are currently hitting .219 with a .647 OPS.

HITTERS

Jed Lowrie, IF: Off to a blazing 2018, Lowrie is carrying a 1.043 OPS against LHP. He now has a chance against Matt Moore, who has struggled to keep the ball in the park. He has also been mashing from the other side of the plate, so can score points off any reliever.

Christian Villanueva, IF: All he does is hit HRs and now he’s taking a trip to Coors field — YES PLEASE. Chad Bettis is due a visit from the regression fairy, as his strand rate is sitting at 95% and HR/9 is much lower than his career averages.

Eddie Rosario, OF: Swinging a hot bat as of late (.903 OPS, HR and 6 RBIs last 7) and today gets to square off vs. Tanaka, who has struggled the last couple of times out. He’s already allowed 5 HRs on the season.

Shin-Soo Choo, OF: Choo has been on a tear over his last 7 games, hitting 3 HRs and 1.089 OPS. I would like to see him hitting lead-off in a game where some runs are supposed to be scored.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

The weather finally seems to be calming dow; hopefully we can have no more PPDs for a while. It was a rough stretch there for a while. Every game seems to be safe for tonight.

Doing Lines In Vegas

Best value of the night has to be the Texas Rangers at +125. That game has the makings of a slugfest and Texas has more sluggers. Gimme the over in the Yankees/Twins game at 9 runs. Tanaka has been getting rocked lately, and the Yankees are always a threat to put up runs.
