Another quick hitter this week. Hopefully, everyone took a break from their usual labors this past weekend, which is the unofficial end of summer in the States: Labor Day weekend. Labors of love are still allowed, and I, like many, enjoyed some fantasy football drafts this past weekend. It’s so funny moving from the constant grind of fantasy baseball to the much more laid-back fantasy football. Fantasy baseball I play to win, fantasy football, I play to just talk trash every week with the fellas. One is a game of speed chess, the other, a game of checkers played while enjoying a beverage and being elbow deep in a plate of nachos. Both have their place. With football taking over the sports landscape, now is the time you can make those last-ditch moves in leagues while fewer people are paying attention. Three weeks to go, and we’ll miss this when it’s gone, so let’s make the most of it.
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
Speaking of making moves, I fear I may have peaked too soon. Much of this rise to the top has come from moving from second to last in IP to having the most IP of anyone. I think once others catch up, I’ll be back in the mix fighting off Mike and the surging Son. Son does this every single year, hangs around, and in the final month makes a meteoric rise to the top of the standings. I’m trying to pull a Son, but again, I think I timed it wrong. Son was the biggest gainer this week, picking up four points and moving from sixth to third. Mike lost the most points this week with 5.5, but Derek, The Lineup Builder, fell the most in the standings from third to sixth. Things are VERY close in the top eight, it’s going to be a heck of a final few weeks.
Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.
John Leary shot up from 12th place this week to take the lead from Daniel Craig as we head into the final week of RazzSlam fun.
Meanwhile, Sandy Eisenbach took the Wild Card lead from Kevin Strutz, who fell to third.

No new records this week, but a couple of writers made the list. I spammed innings all over the place this week trying to get to around 1275. I’d like to hit 1400 early the final week of the season and avoid the mega rush to stack pitchers. We’ll see.

Summary: Not the most prolific offensive week, but those pitching ratios are stellar. Sometimes the best offense is a good defense, or something like that. After starting the week 1/2 point out of first, cjs gained nine points to hit 96 and now have a 5.5-point lead. Pitching carried them here, and it could have been even better. Without Clay Holmes giving up 8 runs on Sunday, their ERA would have been under one. (I feel the pain, I streamed Holmes in several leagues) Holmes did provide a win earlier in the week with eight strikeouts in six shutout innings. Jacob deGrom struck out 15 over 13 innings and allowed just two runs and five baserunners, winning one of his two starts. Kevin Gausman, Jared Jones, and Zack Wheeler each had nine Ks and earned victories. Mason Montgomery had a win and three saves in four scoreless innings, while Cade Smith allowed one baserunner in three innings of work and secured two wins. Randy Arozarena paced the offense, hitting .357, scoring seven runs and driving in eight. He hit two home runs, and stole a base. Daylen Lile also went for two and one in the power and speed categories, while Elly De La Cruz hit .455 with two homers. Sal Stewart chipped in three thefts. Nice work cjs!

Not only was he dropped, no one put in a waiver claim and Truss picked him up as a free agent (June 18).
