Hogan’s Heroes was a fine television show in the early 1970s.  Only a portion of the readership will have any recollection of the show.  The best thing about Hogan’s is there was never a reboot.  The network/writers left a good thing alone and stuck with the original.  The same thing cannot be said for other television shows such as Dragnet, MacGyver, Melrose Place, 24 (The Legacy), and the list goes on and on.

Throw in movies and the list is even more extensive.  Psycho, The Stepfather, Total Recall, Point Break, and many others should have left well enough alone.  Now I am not addressing Part II’s as much as pure reboots.  See, Maverick is a very solid Part Deux and The Gofather II is the best movie ever made in my humble opinion.  Let’s be honest in admitting most tv/movie reboots are straight trash.

I digress.  Thank goodness we are not working in those genres.  We are here for DFS and our reboot is going to flip the script in my opinion.  I am all in with my two starting pitcher reboots…reboots in that each is making his second start of the week and in that I have recommended each one another time this season.   Our guys are known for being able to post zero’s on the scoreboard and have only given up 52 earned runs over ~170 innings while posting 150+ Ks.

Here is a quick recap of the lines of our guys from their first start of the week and an outlook for Saturday:

Logan Gilbert, SP: DK: $9,900 / FD: $10,100 – Though Gilbert (#12 on the Streamanator) took a tough loss on Sunday, his numbers were more than good enough to win.  The issue, as it has been all season, is a lack of run support provided by my beloved Mariners offense.  C’mon, six innings allowing four hits (no walks) and two earned runs while striking out six is not only a quality start by the book, it is should also produce a win.  Gilbert will need to solve Mariners killer, Mike Trout (the reason for the two earned runs mentioned above) to have any chance Saturday.  The second issue, also mentioned above, surrounds the Seattle offense scoring runs.  Can they score enough off of change-up lefty, Patrick Sandoval?  I think they can/will.

Logan Webb, SP: DK: $7,800 / FD: $9,600 – Webb (#6 on the Streamanator) had an even better start than did Gilbert checking in with seven innings of six hit ball (no walks) while issuing only one earned run.  That earned run is Webb’s only one in his last 14 innings, so I am sticking with him against the league-worst Reds squad.  Webb has two quality starts in a row and is sporting a 16:3 K:BB ratio in that span.  I think Webb winning on Saturday is very similar to Gilbert…can SF score enough runs to hand over the W?  Against retread Mike Minor, I think the answer is unequivocally ‘yes’.  Of the two Logan’s Webb has the better match-up on paper, but I will happily start both.

Other names I like today that are also reboots from previous articles, the #1-2-3 on the Streamanator, Shane Bieber, Corbin Burnes, and Gerritt Cole feel a little too chalky today.

Now, we need to find some offense to help our Logan’s become Heroes!  Spoiler Alert: A player below can directly assist Logan Gilbert in obtaining a win.

Will Smith, C: DK: $5,600 / FD: $2,900 – Will Smith is the perfect catcher meeting three important criteria: hot bat, playing outside in the heat/humidity, versus a lefty.  Over his last 15 games, Smith sports a .317/.353/.603 triple slash with five HR and 10 RBI.  Playing in Atlanta where the humidity is currently ridiculous is the ideal spot to use Smith.  Keep an eye on the LAD lineup as Smith played Friday night.  If Smith sits on Saturday, you can pivot to his back-up Austin Barnes or look to @Razzball favorite MJ Melendez facing off against the A’s at home.

Paul Goldschmidt, 1B: DK: $6,000 / FD: $4,000 – Last Saturday we hit with Ji-Man Choi and are not crazy enough to offer than name up expecting big offensive numbers again.  We took our winnings and walked away from the table ahead.  This week we are spending up and keeping true to the plan, Goldy is on a tear and the big divisional weekend match-up against the rival Cubs will see Goldy (and one other Cards player—see below) to have a big weekend.

Jazz Chisholm, Jr., 2B: DK: $5,400 / FD: $4,000 – Quite possibly the most fun player to watch in MLB, Jazz enters our DFS lineup to provide offense toward a win.  Chisholm leads MLB second basemen in HR and RBI and is still chasing Edman for the lead in steals.  The guy is legit.  He is the real deal and I cannot get enough of Jazz.  If you are not following him on Twitter, you are missing out.  Click follow @j_chisholm3 with a word to the wise…do not go after Jazz on Twitter or he will embarrass you.  Trust when I say you will love watching him between the lines and talking smack back to Twitter trolls.

Nolan Arenado, 3B: DK: $5,500 / FD: $3,700 – Torrid start to the season, followed by a dip in production has owners focusing on players like JRam, Devers, and Machado, and rightfully so.  I think the CHC/STL series is all about offense and Nolan (and Goldy) will be right in the middle of the action.  I think the Cardinals chase Alec Mills (8.64 ERA, 1.57 WHIP) early and then brutalize the Cubs overworked bullpen.

Corey Seager, SS: DK: $5,400 / FD: $3,500 – Quick Quiz – Which player is (still) leading MLB SS’s in HR while batting under .240?  Last Saturday I handed you Seager, batting under .230 and he delivered a HR and more than earned his DFS salary.  Since then, Seager has raised his average and is seeing some offensive help from Adolis Garcia (stay tuned) and Marcus Semien (it’s about time).  As the Summer brings more life to the ball, the new Rangers stadium will keep the roof closed, but there will still be enough power in Seager’s bat to more than dominate Josiah Gray.  Look for Seager to continue his pattern of mashing RHP, especially on the first pitch of an at-bat.

Julio Rodriguez, OF: DK: $5,700/ FD: $3,700 – Logan Gilbert up top means you will get all of my JROD recommendations!  His Ks are a concern, but I will simply overlook those numbers and take his recent power surge (10 HR) and enjoy his running ability.  JROD currently leads all of MLB in steals (19) and attempts (22).  Moved up to third in the lineup, JROD has only struck out 5 times over his last seven games, while batting .300.  You, too, should overlook the Ks and roster this sensational young talent with confidence especially outside versus lefty Patrick Sandoval.

Adolis Garcia, OF: DK: $4,900 / FD: $4,200 –  El Bombi.  The Great Bombino.  I do not care what you call him as long as you sneak him into your DFS lineup.  Coming in with 14 HR, 46 RBI and 11 steals, this is a guy not being talked about enough for his ability to carry a DFS team.  Most owners shy away from him based on his high K rate.  Allow me to put his Ks into perspective for you.  He currently has whiffed 77 times which is very high, but that is only two more than both Trout and Judge.  Sure, Bombi is not those players, but at the price discount you will receive, it makes sense to consider using him in DFS.  Right now, he is the poor man’s JROD (85 Ks).  If you want to steer clear of the possibility of Ks, I recommend checking into Andrew Vaughn and his .325 average.
