Yahoo is better than ESPN for fantasy baseball rankings. Are they as good as yours truly?

Well, you tell me? Looks kinda like I’m the best of all-time. Or at least last year. So, first off, I guess props to Yahoo for still doing fantasy baseball rankings even after they declared me the best of all-time. With that said, I will now remove my Ginzu from my sheath and begin the process of slicing and dicing. I’m using a Slap Chop on their rankings without a protective cover! Just very manly stuff that a lot of you expect from me. I fell asleep last night while watching Oz and it’s hardened me — uh, made me tougher — and now it’s time to take it out on Yahoo for their 2024 fantasy baseball rankings.

Because I’m way too interested in how right and wrong I am, I went back to look at what names I told you to grab in your Yahoo leagues last year, because they were undervaluing them, and what names I told you to avoid. It’s a large-scale mishmosh of some good and some not, if I’m being honest. For all of the guys like Kodai Senga and Gunnar Henderson, who I said were steals — Kodai was ranked 119 picks after at Yahoo than where I had him! — there’s another guy like Hunter Greene that I said was great and they said, “Whoa, daddy.” Same with the other side of the coin on the avoidances, I told you to avoid Edwin Diaz (pre-injury), Sandy Alcantara, Shane Bieber and Tim Anderson — yay me — but I said to avoid Strider, Wheeler and Cole and they rolled their eyes. We’re not going to do caveats, but, if we were, I’d say I tell you not to draft starters high, so that’s why I said to avoid those guys.

So, grain of salt with the big brain in my melon, and hedges aside, I wrote schmohawk posts for Elly De La Cruz, Ha-Seong Kim, Kyle Schwarber, Royce Lewis and Cole Ragans, and Yahoo is too high on all of them for my tastes, which are exquisite. I’m Gilligan out on an island all my own for these overrated guys this year. People actually love Ragans and Elly and I’m saying nuh-uh. Also, I didn’t write overrated posts for them, but Framber Valdez, Tyler Glasnow and Adley Rutschman are all way higher in rankings everywhere, outside of the Razzball universe.

On the flip, as the kids say, Mitch Keller sleeper? Yup, he’s ranked too low. Ke’Bryan Hayes sleeper? That’s why I wrote it. Braxton Garrett sleeper? Yes, I’m still in, just monitoring his shoulder soreness. Didn’t write a Charlie Morton sleeper, but no one seems to want him. Not an exciting name to go too in-depth about, but he was 130th overall on the Player Rater last year, and, while not a spring chicken or even a spring roll with faux chicken, he didn’t lose any of his stuff to scare me for this year.

All right, enough ha on the hoo, I’m going to list players in a handy chart. The Thank You’s have it. It being good value from my rankings vs. Yahoo’s. The No Thank You’s don’t have it. They’re bad people. Meh, they might be okay people, but they’re likely not ending up on any of my Yahoo drafted teams. For this, I’ll be using my 2024 fantasy baseball rankings (go figure!) and Yahoo’s 2024 fantasy baseball rankings (crazy, right?). Note: I wrote this the other day, so if the numbers aren’t exactly right, it’s because they heard my footsteps.
