This lede is a little different than past weeks. This lede is about winning your damn league. This is about fantasy baseball streamers. When the Stream-o-Nator heard I was doing this post, it had this to say, ”It’s been an honor to help you in your leagues this year. When I was growing up, a small boy in R-Kansas, and getting these weird feelings about my sister in her bathing suit, I thought my future would be either jail or late-night film showings sitting between Fred Willard and Pee Wee Herman. Then Al Gore invented the internet, allowing me pleasure in the basement of my mother’s home and I discovered I had a special gift for picking fantasy baseball streamers. My wildest dreams have come true in every way imaginable. Is this oversharing?” So, if you need a start in the final ten days, in SON we trust to pick streamers (or to weirdly creep us out). You see Ricky Nolasco vs. the Mets with a score of 113, what the hey? You see Ryan Dempster vs. the Mariners and see his last start was terrible, but you fall back into the Stream-O-Nator’s arms, thinking if Namond Brice can trust the corner boys, you can trust SON. You see Homer Bailey and you just hope he doesn’t fail you like he’s failed you time and time and time again. If you need the starts, here comes the SON (doo doo doo doo)… Here comes the SON and I say it’s all right. Anyway, here’s some more players to Buy or Sell this week in fantasy baseball:
BUY
Dylan Bundy – I just went over my Dylan Bundy fantasy. I wrote it while taking the mic away from Taylor Swift.
Jake Odorizzi – I just went over my Jake Odorizzi fantasy too. I wrote it while picking blue raspberries to make into Italian ice.
Nate McLouth – This is Grey Unplugged, “McLouth’s palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy… There’s vomit on his Orioles jersey already, Mark Reynolds’s spaghetti… McLouth’s nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready to drop bombs…”
John Mayberry Jr. – Some player has to breakout for no apparent reason when they’re no longer of the prospect age, so why not Mayberry next year? Probably about two dozen reasons…But, hey, we’re talking about for the next ten days and he’s hitting .300+ over the last week.
Starling Marte – For the first time in about twenty years, people were excited about the Pirates. They were the zeitgeist! (BTW, isn’t it odd how dated the word zeitgeist is?) Now, they look like, well, the Pirates, but Marte is a quality add for runs and steals for the stretch run– Chipper, “Ow! Why’d you have to say stretch?”
Yonder Alonso – Last week, I threw caution to the wind and added a bunch of Padres hitters to my RCL team. I tell you this to explain why the Padres hitters seem to have all gone cold, as they should be. I’m desperate for average, so I held Alonso (by his shoulders, stared deep into his eyes and said, “Please just get me some hits.”).
Anthony Gose – SAGNOF!
Gorkys Hernandez – Has speed and the Marlins are playing him every day. BTW, I’m half-surprised the Marlins aren’t still playing Chris Coghlan every day. Or Jeremy Hermida, they loved that guy.
Norichika Aoki – He’s not under our 50% owned threshold, but I have to mention him. There is no hotter hitter than Aoki. Or as they call Aoki in Detroit — Made In Japan? What a bunch of effin’ bullish*t!
Michael Saunders – Has two homers in the last week and is hitting fifth or sixth for the Mariners. Faint endorsement of Saunders, major indictment of the Mariners.
Cameron Maybin – Had been dealing with a sore Achilles, but he returned yesterday and he’s hitting over .350 in the last week. Hopefully, the sore Achilles was just a pause in the action for Ca-Ma.
Denard Span – He’s hit in every game but one since his return to the lineup and has two steals this week. He’s also the Random Outfielder That Is On And Off Waivers All Year So Every Team Will Own At Some Point And You Only Want Them When Hot. Or ROTIOAOWAYSETWOASPAYOWTWH, if you find acronyms easier to remember.
Chris Nelson – He’s broken off all communication with his brother Gunnar and he’s remained scorching hot in the last week.
Everth Cabrera – Following a hazing incident, there’s talk of banning EverCab from all college campuses. Now what happens when you want to enjoy some jungle juice while listening to light pop-rock? Wait, that’s Everclear. EverCab is just a middle infielder with speed.
Eduardo Nunez – He’s had about one and half good games in the last week. Hey, it’s that time of the year where you look for anything.
Lonnie Chisenhall – Has two homers in the last ten games and, if you’re dying at your corner infidel spot, he has decent pop. That’s not to say he has decent soda, if you’re reading this in the northern fly-over states.
Bobby Parnell – Frank-Frank is dealing with a sore elbow, so Parnell could see some saves. I could have also put Jon Rauch here, but then no one would be able to see the screen.
Wilton Lopez – The Astros closer has three saves in the last week. Weird, because I thought the Astros haven’t won a game since 2007. Maybe I’m wrong.
SELL
Jason Kubel – Last time I told you to drop him he hit two homers that night, then he went 0-for-21 and missed four of six games. So, I guess, drop him tomorrow.
Mark Trumbo – At any moment, he could homer and come out of this two month funk he’s been in, but, well, he’s not even playing every day and he’s been in a two month funk. Sad Trumbone.
Jason Kipnis – This boychik’s been pretty craptastic since the ASB (3 homers, 7 steals, .222 average). Might’ve been the mishegoss they’re calling The Curse of the Jewish Delicatessen that affected Kipnis and Kalish, leaving them scratching their tuchus’ derma. Oy.
Clayton Kershaw – What’s he gonna get this year? Maybe one more start? Sure, if Della Reese touches his hip. Della Reese isn’t even planning on being in LA. She’s doing a tour of her one woman show, “Grits and Determination.”

I just asked a question asking in your morning read asking when the buy or sell would be posted. And here it is! Grey you magnificent bastard!
Who do you like best out of McLouth, Mayberry Jr, Marte
And is Forsythe still a hot shmotato or should I pick up Scutaro?
Ha… If go with McLouth and Scutaro…
Did anyone just see that Christ Carpenter montage before the Cubs/Cards game? Lol
Ha… Nah, I missed it…
@Grey, They used that religious font for Carpenter’s quotes leading up to his return. The same setup you might see on a Sunday morning show while trying to shake a cocaine hangover that makes you feel even worse.
Ha, awesome analogy…
Alright grey, I’m locked in an epic struggle in one H2H league’s semifinal. 6-6 tie right now, but I’m still at a pretty big disadvantage. I’m getting killed in every offensive cat other than HRs and steals (i lead those 3-1 and 3-2) so I’ve got to dominate the pitching cats. Current pitching score is: 6-5 on Ws, 3-3 on svs, 3-6 on HRs allowed, 54-49 on Ks, 3.15-3.39 on ERA, 1.15-1.16 on WHIP, 5-5 on QS.
We have both been streaming pitchers all week, but I’ve been using the streamonator to try and get the best guys early before my opponent can grab them. Given how tight all the cats are, do you think my best bet is to just run as many starters out as possible? Up until today, I felt pretty good about the majority of my guys, but today I’m running Porcello, Martin Perez, Miguel Gonzalez and Edgar Gonzalez out there. I feel a lot more confident in the group for tomorrow where I’ve got Gio, plus streaming Werner, Wood, and Correia. On sunday I have no starters (assuming Scherzer doesn’t go) so I’ll have to pick up another crop of streamers. Do you see any probs with any of those starts? I guess my thought right now is just to run as many out as possible and hopefully if a couple blow up, it will be diluted enough to still give me a shot to win ERA and WHIP.
I don’t like Porcello, and the other ones are just okay, but sounds like you have to start them…
@Grey
I have Cobb (v TOR) and Gallardo (@ WAS) going on Sunday. If I only need one starter to preserve lead in k’s and wins, are you going with Gallardo?
Also, if its not too much to ask, can you answer my post on the last thread. I started it before you posted the new thread and being on my phone, it would take me a while to retype it. Thanks.
I’d go with Gallardo…
“Thanks for your prayers like I asked, so far its helping. Despite.still batting under. 200 on the week (compared to his. 367 line), I’m leading in runs, sb and one back in homers.
Anyways couple last questions before finals end…
1) Despite his performance last night, would you sit Jennings against Villanueva (1 for 7) in favor of Aoki (v. Jackson), Panda (v. Kelly) and Granderson (v. Parker)?
2) Likely will not need need a streamer this weekend (20 k advantage with 1 less start to go. If I do though, rank top 3 of this bunch: Werner @ SF, Tillman @ BOS, Peralta @ WAS, Correia @ HOU, Buehrle @ NYM
Thanks again. I was worried when I didn’t see your foot prints next to mine anymore, but then I realized you were carrying me to another championship.”
1) I’d sit Jennings with those options… 2) Correia, Werner, Tillman… No problem…
@Grey,
Thanks. Doing all of your business on a phone can be a pain in the ass
I hear ya…
What do you expect from Martin Perez tonight @Sea?
5 IP, 1 ER, 7 Ks…
no cargo, no stanton….gotta love weekly leagues. argh.
grey, catch a glimpse of endeavor?
@herschel, I did. It was more anti-climactic than that time some waitress at Denny’s gave me blue ba–wait, what?
I was driving down my street and all of these people were outside with their cameras so I figured it was either a celebrity or a fire… I missed it…
@Grey, if it were a celebrity on fire, you’d be really kicking yourself in the ass for missing that.
Oh, I made sure… I stopped a corner and asked… They told me and I said, “Oh, whatever,” and kept going… I thought for a second it was a UFO because of the angle people were looking… That I would’ve stopped for…
@Grey, I think that if there is going to be another celebrity on fire somewhere, Vegas would have Martin Lawrence as the favorite. He has modeled his career on Richard Pryor and already had a “fire drill” where he was running around dehydrated. That said, he would probably go up in flames like a pile of dry leaves due to the lack of water in his system. Surprisingly, Martin Lawrence is also probably most likely to report seeing a UFO.
One correction, Martin Lawrence dressed as Sha-Na-Na…
@Grey, if that’s the case, Eddie Murphy is surely right alongside him/her.
Ha, yup… They’d be on a date…
@Grey, and even if there were no fire….that’d be flaming enough.
Hehe… He so crazy! And on fire.
It’s impossible for “zeitgeist” to be dated… just like it’s impossible for the “b” in subtle to be obvious.
The Runway? The Challenge: BOTS?
HA! Nice… I saw The Challenge… Wow… Big first episode, and not just in length… I was actually surprised by the ending and MTV shows don’t usually surprise me, they usually telegraph things coming from a mile away… A bit too much lead up to a surprise team though and then it’s those schmohawks… If you’re building up a surprise team, it needs to be CT and someone…
@Grey, Seriously… I don’t even know who that one guy is on the Fresh Meat team. They should have gone the “all-star” Frankenstein team route… CT, Emily, Derrick, and Evelyn would have been great.
Dunno’ if you caught the “this season on BOTS” but it seems like Trishelle is the new kick dog, and Zach/Frank ride Dustin hard (pun point) about his gay porn past. Really looking forward to those exchanges.
As boring as Lacey is, and as happy I am to see her gone, she had the line of the night when she saw Zach and Frank wrestling and people were remarking that they had just kissed on the lips. Something like, “I think they’ve probably kissed on the penis.”
Yeah, I saw the Dustin, Frank and Zach thing which piqued my interest enough that I can’t wait for every episode now… BTW, didn’t Zach not like gays or Frank by the end of that season, when did they start kissing? Yeah, good line from Lacey, but she’s a yawn, as Michael Kors would say about Ven…
@Grey, I dunno’, but when they kissed, Zach tilted his head to the side. Kissing a guy as a goof is one thing, but tilting your head when you do it is gay… not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Nah, nothing wrong with it, I’ll make out with Mike Trout if he wants, but I could’ve sworn Zach was a homophobe on his season…
@Grey, he and his GF (Ashley?) we’re both big homophobes. Now he’s kissing Frank and she’s attached to him like a Velcro monkey.
Tell me what you think of these ideas for Survivor. One week, when there is a great blindside or surprising vote, you start the episode by showing tribal council. Then the rest of the episode can focus on how it happened in great detail. No need to blur the outcome with half conversations… no need to make it seem like it could be one of two people. We just get to see all of the dirty strategy that leads up to a good tribal.
The other idea works well with two teams. Have them both come to tribal for the challenge, but have them both vote BEFORE the challenge. Now two people know they’re going home if their team loses, and one of them comes back to camp knowing they’re the odd man out.
Get me a meeting with Mark Burnett, will ya’?
Survivor Memento style? I like it! So, who are you picking for Survivor?
@Grey, if I’m being honest, my quick gut call was the guy who got voted off. Other than Sophie, that’s what happens with my picks. If I’m taking someone post Ep. 1, it would be Pete.
Hey, should the first line of this post have “past weeks’” instead of “past week’s?” Not nitpicking, I’m seriously asking. It’s one of those grammar conundrums that I’d go look up to be sure.
Anyway, who is your pick? What about for the Runway? BOTS?
Runway I actually liked Ven, so there goes that… Now I think Chris is the odds on favorite, Maybe Dmitri can be an upset winner or the black girl (her name is escaping me)… On Survivor, I like the guy who burned his hands to win (Skulpin?)… Nothing shouts out him, but he’s gonna be the leader of that tribe and they like him to be around… So much can happen though… BOTS — I’ll go with Cancun, but I really have no clue…
Good question on past week’s… I think what I wrote means what the past week owned, when I meant past weeks, so I changed it…
@Grey, My wife was just mocking me for picking Ven, but he seemed very talented when he first did that overlay rose thing. How was I supposed to know that’s the only thing he knows how to do? Next week looks ridiculous. I’d be effin’ ludicrous if I was sent home on the week they decided to throw fashion completely out the window and goof on the designers with a high school “take care of this fake baby” project. I won’t pick a favorite because I accidentally read something that I think mentioned one of the three people showing at fashion week.
Skupin is a good pick. It seems like if a returnee can get past the first third of the show, they’ve got a good chance at making the finals… and he can probably not annoy people for at least that long to hang around.
I’ll pick St. Thomas for ss and gs, but it’s probably more fun to pick who’ll be thrown off first. Frank seems to obvious, so I’ll go with Jasmine.
As for the grammar issue, you would want plural if you were comparing this lede to previous ledes:
“This lede is a little different than past ledes.”
But you’re assigning possession of the lede when you assign it to a week. To write out your thought completely, it would read:
“This week’s lede is a little different than past weeks’ ledes.”
So to condense that, I think it should read:
“This lede is a little different than past weeks’.”
Makes sense to me, at least.
Don’t tell me who they said was at Fashion Week, but I will say that like 4 people show there so reporters don’t know who the final two or three really is… I.e., they throw in red herrings… Yeah, St. Thomas is a throwaway pick, they’re not gonna go far, but I guess anything can happen… Yeah, you might be right about the possession thing, but I’m going with where it’s at now…
Dude,
One of your funniest updates ever. you Crack my Azz up.
Enjoy the weekend,
Brian
Thanks! You too!
Greyskiiiii! Happy friday!!
I thought Britton was going sunday but i guess not? How do you feel about tillman at boston? Streamable?
Thanks buddy! G.S.!
You too, Prezii… I think he’s decent for Sunday, SON doesn’t like him, don’t tell the SON what I said…
@Grey, haha your secret is safe with me!
I added Kris Medlen on July 30 before his first start on July 31 and I’ve been rolling with him since. After a couple of pitching fails (keeping Lester over Weaver in the off-season and then drafting Scherzer and dropping him in May), Medlen has been a big, big win. So, I just want to say thanks. You’re a scholar and gentleman, Grey.
No problem, glad he’s worked out for all of us…
Monday’s a thin schedule, and Pettitte @ MIN is the best SP available in my league. SON not big on him (99), but I’m going to be facing a disadvantage in terms of # of starts, and with 5 moves per week it behooves me to use this week’s to load up on guys who go early next week. Would you roll with Pettitte? W and QS count.
Yeah, seems like it would be fine…
hi grey
thinking in advance for some pitchers/streamers for early next week
std 12 team 5×5 roto league
only have enough innings in my budget this week to start 3 (maybe 4 if matchup real good) pitchers
need wins without hurting ratios too bad
who do you like?
burnett at astros
f her at angels
marco estrada at wash
lance lynn at astros
ed volquez at petco vs dodgers
pettitte at minn
j garcia at astros
anibal at home vs kc
thinking:
- burnett probably due for a win, but never sure with pirates offense
- f-her, he’s good but 0-2 with 5.75 era vs angels this year and seattle has no offense
- estrada good lately and mil seems hot with bats
- lynn ok lately and vs lastros
- volquez pitching at petco
- garcia was good last time but terrible on the road
- pettitte may be good enough to get win and only eat 5 innings due to a low pitch count
- anibal has det lineup behind him vs kc pitching
thanks for the help
enjoy the weekend!
Burnett, F-Her, Lynn, Pettitte… They’re all pretty good, actually… You too!
Are we streaming to another world with Edwin Jackson tonight vs MIL? I’m not convinced even though SON says he’s a 114.
I would… But it is risky… Riskier than 114… Probably around 100…
Where would Ichiro fit in the mix of the OFers you have listed as buys? Do you like him ahead of Marte, McLouth, Mayberry, etc?
Ahead of Marte and Mayberry…
As a long time so-cal-er and baseball fan I must say something about our beloved Angels. For so long the lovable losers with the likable characters that filled their benches and that great singing cowboy of an owner. From Wally World to Grich’s stauche, Ryan’s No-Hitters and the Carew’s smooth bat.
Lets step back and get off this trip down memory lane which brings to the topic of today, why the hell don’t they give the TROUT the most obscene contract and lock him up for the next decade. He should be one of the untouchables. If he had one thing to say it’s “I ain’t no joke”, I am the real thing and I need to get Paid in Full. Give him the farm or at least a AA affiliate and name it after him. I have never seen a player move the crowd so fast to their feet than the man that has no competition for ROY. This ain’t Chinese Arithmetic, just a man you need to put your hands together for and say I know you got soul, from the way you steal bases to your routine highlight catches. He is so good that he don’t play follow the leader, he is the leader, and he doesn’t even try to be. So when you see Mike Trout at bat you need to step back and watch in awe, because if he connects you might need to run for cover. and if anyone disses him then just set ‘em straight!
the following message has been brought to you by Eric B is president.
Wow, top five best comments… Well played… You, sir, have juice (know the ledge)…
@Grey, Also, Trout almost looks Korean–but European.
He needs a prettier girlfriend… Cust kayin’…
@Grey, Thanks, grey, that one was for you and your old school rap, well it wasn’t at the time, but those type of sensibilities. I know you asked, and i had been lagging on purposely throwing one together. Did you catch all ten songs i threw in there?
Yeah, I’m a huge Eric B fan… Everyone’s all excited about Trout, but you need to relax with pep…
@Grey, It was played up for the song title pun’s, i could care less. At least i know what to do when my team’s are out of it. The next one will be the dread pirate for sure.
I think Dread Pirate needs some Das Efx…
@Grey, Pirates are gonna miggity miss the pliggity playoffs.
@Grey, I was thinking a white group for the Dread, maybe tomorrow i’ll throw something down. I have to work security till 1 am tonight at the carnival at my kids school. kinda a rough neighborhood. should be fun.
Nice… How about YBT?
@Grey, I look at white people with dreads the same way Don Cornelius looked at YBT on Soul Train. “Young, Black, Teenagers?..but you’re not black.”
Ha… Upon Wikipedia review, it turns out one of them has a tattoo shop in BK… I think I’ve found our first guest for a first podcast next year!
@Grey, Successful folks like that always have publicists that make you jump through hoops. “We’re sorry that we missed our scheduled appearance on your podcast; there was a hepatitis issue that we had to rectify at the shop. Can we reschedule?” Pretentious bastards.
I know, riiiiight?! You’re welcome: http://www.baconbarter.com
@Grey, I didn’t even know there was thick cut bacon on the shelves, let alone it’s acceptance as currency. U-S-A!!
We live in a great country where bacon’s the fatbacks and greenbacks…
@Grey, I think after today’s conversation its going to be the Dread and Simaon and Garfunkel. It just seems like the right thing to do.
I think you might have to…
@Grey, a HUGE Eric B. fan? Isn’t that like being a huge Garfunkel fan? Rakim laid the rhymes, Marley made the beats, and all Eric B. did was the cuts and rough up the promoters who came short on payday.
Ha… I meant a huge Eric B *and* Rakim fan… Obviously it’s all about Rakim… Wait, what are you saying about Garfunkel?
@Grey, I should probably say something nice about Garfunkel since there is a good liklihood he’s googling and trying to find mentions of just “Garfunkel” for blurbs to promote whatever solo stuff he’s doing. Well, he was in the movie Carnal Knowledge so there’s a good chance he got to see Ann Margaret’s cans up close and personal….so he’s got that going for him, which is nice.
@Colton, don’t mess with Artie, he was in carnal Knowledge
He also had better hair than Simon… Hey, Art, you wanna be on the podcast?
@Grey, clearly that element wasn’t a sustainable business plan for him.
Yeah, might’ve misallocated his time and energy…
@Jack Full of Hate, He’ll get paid in full for sure. In fact, when he signed his first contract in good faith, there was a non-implicit understanding between the club and his folks that there is going to be a big time deal when the time comes. Both sides know the ledge.
Rakim is the god MC, Trout is the god CF.
LOLstros… Interviewing Brad Ausmus for managerial position. Craig Biggio is crestfallen at the moment.
I can see it now…
[ring]
Ausmus: “Hyello..this is Brad…”
Astros Owner: Bradley, my boy! Are you ready to come home and serve?
Ausmus: Um, is this Ehud Barak?
Astros Owner: Huh, who? Nevermind–this is Jim!
Ausmus: [pause]
Astros Owner: Jimmy!
Ausmus: [longer pause]
Astros Owner: Jimmy Crane, baby! We’re getting the band back together. We want you to come back to the Central–er, the NL–er, the Astros–to be our manager! Roger’s gonna anchor the rotation, Bagwell’s coming in to coach hitting, and you…well…are you ready to serve?
Ausmus: Ooooh, I get it–clubhouse manager. You want me to SERVE drinks, right?
Astros Owner: Naw naw naw…we want you to–
Ausmus: [interrupting Owner] –Do I get to keep my tips?
Astor Owner: Huh? No! We want you to come COACH the Houston Astros?
Ausmus: Didn’t they fold and relocate to Washington, D.C.?
Astros Owner: Nope. Just to the AL.
Ausmus: Oh. I’m confused.
Astros Owner: Don’t be. Just get yer butt down here to H-town on Tuesday, we’ll put together a dog and pony interview, then rubber stamp the hire the same night. You’ll be introduced on Wednesday morning. Bing-bang-boom. Whadda ya say?
Ausmus: Sorry, I’ll be in services Tuesday night and fasting the next morning. Call Biggio.
[click]
HAHAHA… Wow you guys are on fire today… It had to be Ausmus, Bagwell or Biggio… Couldn’t be anyone else…
getting hurt by injuries in nl-only
neil walker
corey hart
kubel
victorino
would you drop any of them for
gorkys hernandez
travis snider
jesus guzman
Kubel for Gorkys if you need steals…
so you still think
walker and hart will contribute more ROS than waiver wire garbage?
There’s a chance of it and that waiver wire garbage is pretty bad…
Would start either of these two guys tonight: Hanson @ Phillies or Vogelsong home against the Padres?
I wouldn’t start either in most leagues, but I’d go Vogelsong first if I were desperate…
1) Wise or Marte?
2) Think Stanton’s got anything left for this year?
3) Are you as down on Trout as LT was in the Kato Kaelin column?
1) Marte 2) Yeah, next week 3 homers… 3) Never down on Trout, except in the…Well, no, I’m not down on him…
Anyone else have the mlbtv app for PS3? Is it screwed up?
I gave my PS3 away because it was too distracting… If you ever see a homeless person playing PS3, that’s thanks to me!
@Grey, I had to get rid of my ex because she was too distracting. If you see a homeless guy trying to play his PS3 while being berated by a bi-polar redhead, that’s thanks to me!
Man, I feel bad for that homeless guy now… He’s not getting any work done…
@Grey, Next time, just give him a package of bacon and call it a day.
I feel like a fool, I probably could’ve got a bi-polar redhead for a slab of bacon…
@Grey, biggest disappointment since the Herschel Walker deal.
I wonder if I could’ve bought a USFL team with bacon…
@Grey, XFL team maybe. Ted DiBiase was known to protect his wealth by diversifying currencies. What’s a few baconbacks when you already have millions of francs?
Captain Lou used to pay his stable of wrestlers with bacon, I believe… At least Afa and Sika…
@Grey, haha…good old racist wrestling. I thought I outgrew it, but now I realize it’s just not racist enough for me anymore.
You’ve become too tolerant!
At the draft, they laughed at me when I said Hamilton and Stanton were going to carry me to a championship. They did, but now my OF has tumbleweeds blowing through it when it counts most.
Who’s laughing now?! Oh, yeah, bad week for them to be injured… Stupid H2H playoffs…
@Grey, what’s worse is the fact that I had to reduce bench bats to zero sum because my opponent has 10 SP…now I need to waive a couple decent pitchers that could help next week in order to get bodies in my OF for the weekend.
Yeah, this time of year is a pain with that, it’s not gonna get better once the Rangers clinch…
@Grey: who do you like better between downs and jepsen to get saves?
Downs
@Grey, all but confirmed as Jepsen coils a nice dookie around the mound area in a non-save shituation.
Yeah, totally…
cut victorino? 12 team h2h, we have deep benches so i can afford to hold him, im winning this week and looking like im gonna make the finals, basically should i just move on? pick up the hot taschmatatoe of the week? looking at darwin barney right now….
hate cutting the name but he’s done NOTHING lately, i can pick up fill ins that are doing better.
btw our h2h playoff in the finals is 2 weeks long, thanks.
He has been bad lately but I wouldn’t cut him for Darwin Barney if that’s your best option…
@Grey: SON like Erasmo @ LAA next week (114). do you concur?
Yeah, looks okay… Don’t think it’s quite as good as 114, but probably around 105… Streamable for sure…
Hey grey…sorry, didn’t even notice I was posting in an old entry earlier. After watching my 9-0 lead in one league vaporize into 6-5, I’m heading out to do some drinking. I’ll check in tomorrow. Have a good one.
You too, man!
Trouty coming out of his coma. Nice.
He heard us talking about him…
@Grey: yay or nay on PT Anderson? Going to check out The Master tonight….
Yay… I’m going tomorrow morning…
@Grey, no spoilers. Curious what you think…
Cougs had to take her dog for a hike so now might not be going until a different day…
@Grey, the 70mm version is worth checking out if you can make it work. Think it’s only at select theaters.
Don’t say any spoilers but good or bad?
@Grey, Worth the price of admission for Phoenix and hoffmans’ performances alone.
Cool, definitely excited to check it out…
Wow, im laughing out loud at these comments… I missed out today.. everyone is probably long gone but i just have to say… Gangnam style! Birthday style!!
It’s your birthday? Have a good one, man… Hope you got the imaginary horse you always wanted…
@Grey, t’was! I enjoyed it.. and its an imaginary PONY that i’ve always wanted!! Geez.. no one ever listens!! Haha
Haha… What’d you do? Anything special?
@Grey, nahh nothin too big.. went out with a couple friends got sloppy and played sum pool.. got took by an 80 year old dude playin dice. The normal, ya know! Haha the good ol’ Mark McGuire… Im gettin old grey!!
As the expression goes, you’re getting grey… Sounds like you were taken by the cougar ex-boyfriend… If I ever find him…
@Grey, haha! We went to a pool hall/bar and this old black dude is sitting with dice and a little rubber cup(that im pretty sure he brought from home) just waiting for a sucker! I knew what he was doin and i still gave in.. dah! He only got $20 off me but still… I tried to out-hustle a hustler.
Sounds like you got done in by Bunny Colvin’s priest friend… You gave to a good cause…
@Grey, ha!! He was laid back in the corner all scarface style.. “chu want to play meh!? Okay!”
Then i gangnam styled and he gave me all his money! Just like that..
“Grandpop, tell us again the story about how you Gangnam Styled someone in pool…”
@Grey, “back in my day, we didnt have all these imaginary horses you could just ride all over Gangnam! All we had were imaginary swimming pools..”
“In the fancy neighborhoods, they had imaginary horses for water polo, but nowhere else.”
@Grey, “in poor neighborhoods they had imaginary water to play horse polo..”
Ha! I just thought of something for the next Olympics… Imaginary horse polo!
@Grey, aww cmon! Japan will win it every time!! They are the best I.H. riders in the land! I.H. is definitely the new way of saying imaginary horse..
I like IH, makes it sound Like I own Gangnam horses… Not like I possess them, but like a hitter would own a pitcher if they had a good track record vs. them…
@Grey, haha! Like you with that korean lady.. your story would sound a lot cooler if you said “yeah seen this korean woman at the store the other day man, had to bust out my IH on that broad and ride!”
Yes! “Hey, you wanna IH? Of course you do, now ride!”
@Grey, t-shirt idea!
Front: I.H. (big letters)
Back: Ride It!
Perfect! And just a faint outline of a horse when you’re under ultraviolet lights…
@Grey, i was thinking ur logo… Could be like the “who is grey albright?” picture.. just an outline.. of a guy riding an IH from the back. Hes got one hand in the air with his legs in full gallop with a cowboy hat on!
Man you realize these are moneymakers right? Haha we gotta jump now grey, while the gangnam style is hot! We could probably sit here and come up with 10 awesome shirts in a matter of hours..
http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/388872_10151145390849831_283776506_n.jpg
Boom! Turn that around and make it a silhouette…. Theres ur logo!
Need someone with some photoshop skills and put my Who is Grey Albright logo on Psy’s shirt as he gallops, so it’s like he’s wearing my head…
@Grey, hahaha! Nicee.. it could be done! A shirt that has you on that front of PSYs shirt while hes dancing.
Yes! Like a mirror into my imaginary soul… Hey, wait a minute!
@Grey, hey i’d rather be soul-less, than sole-less…. They say lack of the proper shoe can cause serious long term foot problems..
You can’t go anywhere without proper footwear… That’s word…
@Grey, gotta get some of those gel inserts.. the good ones though! Like ur walkin on water…. Water, son!
You just gave me a great idea… Water bed insoles! I’lll cut you in for 5% of gross sales…
@Grey, thats a done deal! Ill send my info via email.. Instead of shaking hands.. we Gangnam!
We need someone to notarize our Gangnam’ing…
@Grey, rudy know any good nigerians?
Rudy is a diplomat for all African countries, so I’m sure…
@Grey,sometimes its goodto have friends in low places…
Hehe… Yup!
Yonder, Ryan Howard, Michael Bourne, or ichiro rest of the week?
Ichiro
Detweiler or Anneabelle for their final start?
Not that it really matters because ive won, MUHAHAHAHAAAAA.
NICE! Detwiler
Replace M. Reynolds with any of the following? Pagan, Soriano, C. Nelson, D. Murphy or Y. Alonso. Thanks.
All of the following… Nelson
Anyone know if SD is still using a 6 man rotation? I stopped paying attention when they announced they were, but the Cashner went down. Volquez would potentially be in Petco vs LAD and SF next week.
I think they’re back to five…
Where’s the two start pitcher post this week?
Smokey decided not to do it, I guess… I didn’t hear anything… Sorry about that…
@Grey, No worries. Tell that slacker I read the post every week and found it very helpful.
Ha… Okay, will do…
Do you like Harang @Cin tomorrow? Rudy’s love-child, SON, doesn’t have an opinion on him one way or another.
I don’t like that start…
@Grey, How about Odorizzi v Cle? Will have to drop one of Bundy, Harvey, or Shelby Miller (fourteen team.) Thanks
Is it a keeper? If so, hold… If not, lose Miller…
What do you think about streaming the whole Hodgepadre staff this week?
I’d go for it…
sounds like scherzer is starting tomorrow. do we trust him?
Not at all…
It’s so frustrating trying to find a SP this time of year… I’m seeing Cobb listed by SON and Yahoo as starting tomorrow. MLB’s list of probably pitchers (and their apps) say it’s Hellickson. Does anyone have another solid source?
@Carnac, http://fantasybaseball.usatoday.com/content/probables.asp?sport=MLB
Just cuz i like you Carnac… Sshh dont tell SON!
@Prezii, I feel the love – thanks, friend!
@Carnac, no prob, bob!!
Here’s my pitching matchup:
W’s are tied 6-6, I’m losing saves 5-2, winning Ks 60-59, losing ERA 2.05 to 2.17, losing WHIP 0.99 to 1.00…what a battle huh??
My question is would you start Minor @Philly today?
Sorry, got home lunch and it’s too late, but I would’ve said yes…
@Grey, no prob! I went ahead…I’m praying to the fantasy Gods! It was my fault for waiting till last minute. Thanks!
I’ll pray with you…
Man, playoffs are nerve wracking. Went from up 9-0 in one league to down 5-6 last night to now being back up 6-5. In my other league, its tied 5-5. The 6-5 league is tight on every cat and the 5-5 I’m getting crushed on offense and the pitching cats are really close.
Had Gio going on both teams, W is nice, but I needed more Ks after my opponent had Santana last night. Travis Wood turned in a useful 7 ks so that sort of makes up for it.
Have MadBum and Minor going on one team this afternoon. Up by 3 on Ks right now, but my opponent has 4 guys going tomorrow and I’m out of moves for the week and only have Cobb. Have Werner going on the other team and Corriea going on both teams. Fingers crossed for a couple of more strong streamer starters there.
Fingers crossed for ya…
@Grey, Minor Ks the side in the 1st. That’s a good start…
Yes, sir…
start or sit werner? up by 1 win, winning era but close, losing whip but close…
Start
Does anyone know if in a yahoo h2h that allows only weekly roster changes teams will be able to set two rosters or just one for the last period of the playoffs (which is 9/24-10/3)?
I think two, not sure…
@Grey, Hrm… Well, I’ll probably need to know for sure because 4th place (or maybe 5th, not sure) is on the line!
It’s ridiculous- my h2h team is back to killing it. I’m up 12-1, and would be beating any team in the playoffs this week. Stupid, stupid h2h…
Slew said below Hellickson…
Good heavens. Roy Halladay probably just ruined the season for some people there.
I could be one of them…
Yeah, for serious…
So, looks like it will all come down to K/ERA/WHIP tomorrow, H2H.
I lead slightly in all of those three categories and he has no starters scheduled Sunday. He can stream up to two off the wire, among those available: Stults, Cobbb, Vargas, Floyd, Nolasco. Oh…he also has 6 of the top ten relievers in fantasy baseball, an intriguing strategy, so he may just count on them.
So given that, which of these would you start, or is it one of those “all in” situations?
Scherzer versus MIN
Tillman @ BOS
Griffin @NYY
Thanks
@Deadwoods, I’ll leave the big question to Grey, but if I were you, I’d snatch Cobb off the wire even if you don’t plan to use him. I think he’s the best WW streamer out of that group according to SON so it might be smart to snatch him so your opponent can’t use him.
I wouldn’t start Griffin…
Used all my waiver picks this week.
@Deadwoods, Ah, I see.
Whoa, so who is starting tomorrow for Tampa? ESPN says Cobb, but now Yahoo has his start moved back to tuesday. I used my last WW pickup in one league on him and it will royally fuck me if he isn’t pitching.
Looks like Cobb… Not entirely sure though…
@Grey, Marc Topkin(TB Times) twitter is saying Hellickson.
Thanks for the heads up!
@slew, FMFBL…thats a killer.
Please rank the following SP 1-5 for next week:
Shaun Marcum @ Cin (Cueto)
Wandy Rodriguez @ NYM (Hefner)
Wei-Yen Chen v Tor (Alvarez)
Jeremy Guthrie @ Det (Porcello)
Miguel Gonzalez v Tor (Villanueva)
Thanks!!
Wandy, Chen, Miguel… None are great…
@Grey: think Aroldis and Kenley are both back to closing next week?
Yeah, I do, but not every day, maybe just two games to see that they can do it…
Meant to say not back-to-back games… Maybe two all week…
So Ellsbury’s not playing until “at least Tuesday” with a “minor” injury that some are calling a lat strain. Dump him to stream SP or hold until midweek, which could cost me a couple valuable starts?
Dump him…
Damnit…Bum knocked out of the game at only 81 pitches by a Yonder homer. (which tied me on HRs in my other league)
The rays switching Cobb for Hell boy will prob cost me the win. My opponent has Hell so now he’ll have 5 starters tomorrow and I currently lead by 20 on Ks (and he has Haren going right now) and 3 on Ws.
@letsgobravos,
Haren out of the game and Putz with 2ks in the save stretches my lead to 22ks. I think I’m going to need at least 3ks from my closers tomorrow to hold on against 5 starters.
Damn, shizz is close… Hopefully Hell’s rocked…
Damn, that sucks… Maybe Hell will end up bombing…
Question Grey…
I have 5 pitchers lined up for tomorrow. (Scherzer, Smyly, Huff, Lyles, Young) My opponent also has 5 pitchers. (Floyd, Griffin, Burnett, Weaver, Hudson)
I lead 7-5 overall, but the only O cats I have a shot to win are HRs and Steals which are both tied. Pitching cats are as follows: Ws: 8-6, Sv:5-4, Ks:87-76, HRs allowed: 7-8, ERA: 3.35-3.94, WHIP: 1.21-1.24, QS: 8-6.
With all that being said, would you run all of my pitchers out there tomorrow? If not, which ones would you sit? TIA.
@letsgobravos, I’d sit Lyles and Huff
@Grey:
Well, i made it to the championship! Thanks for all your help along the way. One last question to help me plan my big week that is upcoming. No one else i’d trust but you…
12 team H2H Points League with a 15 start max per week. Here is how my starts are lining up as of now.
1 Justin Verlander v KC
2 Justin Verlander @ MIN
3 Felix Hernandez @ LAA
4 Cliff Lee @ MIA
5 CC Sabathia @ MIN
6 Mat Latos @ PIT
7 Doug Fister KC
8 Jordan Zimmermann MIL
9 Jordan Zimmermann @ STL
10 Chris Carpenter @ HOU
11 Ryan Dempster v LAA or Streamer
12 Streamer
13 Streamer
14 Streamer
15 Streamer
As it stands, i am going to need to pick up 4 streamers this week and the waiver wire is about as barren as it gets…
Dempster has been absolutely thrashed by the angels the past two times he’s faced them, to the tune of 13 ER in 8 innings. I don’t know if i have the cajones to start him this week, but do i have any better alternatives?
After sifting through the free agent heap, here are the best options available:
Wandy Rodgriguez @ NYM
Wei-Yen Chen v Tor
Shaun Marcum @ Cin
Miguel Gonzalez v Tor
Jeremy Guthrie @ Det
Clayton Richard v LAD
My question to you is… should i take a chance with Dempster? If i use Dempster then i only need 4 streamers, if i do not, then i need 5… which guys do you think are my best bets?
Thanks Grey you are the man. I will be growing a mustache in your honor if i win this title.
@joe from point pleasant,
Apologies for posing a similar question earlier… now that i sat down and looked at everything i realized i needed more streamers than originally thought so i just laid it all out for ya… Thanks again.
@joe from point pleasant,
and scratch that… wandy just got picked up by my opponent… great.
Ha… I better see a mustache on you! These aren’t good, but I wouldn’t mess with Dempster either, so 5 it is… Wandy, Chen, Miguel, Richard, Guthrie…
@Grey: Start Tillman vs. the Red Sox tomorrow or not? I’m up by one point in the semifinals–Sunday is CRUCIAL!
I’d start him, but you’re not giving me specifics about where you are in ERA or WHIP…
@Grey, I have an 0.76 ERA and a 0.82 WHIP which is why I pose the question. My opponent has a 1.85 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP. He’s trouncing me in all the batting categories (my bats have gone cold), but if I can hold on in pitching I’ll make it to the final round after today. Should I still start Tillman?
@Dimond Demon Devil, I’d start him
@Grey, Thanks! One last question: should I start Kyle Lohse as well?
Yup
@Grey, Thanks again!
No problem….
Sup Grey, fellow Razzballers,
Heading into the final day of my semifinals matchup in Yahoo 12 team h2h 8×8 playoffs, I’m currently leading 8-5, 3 categories are tied (K’s, Losses and Holds)
I have Burnett @ Houston and Gallardo @ Was going today, I’m leading in ERA,WHIP and BB, and am losing 4-3 in Wins, tied in Ks and Ls. My opponent has Weaver and Kuroda going today, but at the moment they are on his bench. I’m leaning towards starting Gallardo, but Burnett’s matchup looks mighty appetizing too. Is it worth the risk to start both, either or none? Thanks fellers
I’d start both… But I don’t know how much you’re leading by in ERA and WHIP…
What you feeling on Odorizzi vs. Cle?
@B.o.B, Well here’s the whole shituation…I’m up 7-6 in W, losing 5-2 in SV, up 66-64 in K, winning ERA 2.24 to 2.51, winning 0.95 to 1.06 in WHIP…he has Homer Bailey vs LAD, Lohse @ChC and Tilman @BOS while I only have Lee vs Atl. That’s 3 to 1 in starters if you’re keeping track at home. Could you please rank the following available starters and help me in what I should do? I would love to know what Grey would do in my shoes…
Stults @SF
Vargas vs Tex
Lyles vs Pit
Hudson @ Phi
Huff @ KC
Odorizzi vs Cle
Petit vs SD
Young vs Mia
Doubront vs Balt
Also the hitting stats are 23-21 R I’m losing, 5-3 HR I’m losing, 38-23 RBI I’m losing, 9-5 SB I’m up, and .399 to .374 OBP I’m of course losing
So to sum up I’m tied 5-5, we’re extremely close in a bunch of categories, he has 3 starters to my 1 and the good news is I own the tie breaker
Stults, Young, Vargas… Start them all..
@Grey, So to clarify are you recommending me picking up all 3 of those guys to have 4 SP to his 3?
Yup, those three…
5 IP, 3 ER, 3 Ks for Odorizzi
Won my roto (leading by 10 points) and now got a final day nailbiter in my H2H to get into the playoff final. Was down 8-0 now leading 5-4, a tie takes me into the final so wish me luck!
Sure there’s many other razzballers in the same situation tonight, watching right down to the end of the sunday night game.
@TheNewGuy, Oh and I gotta trust Yoga against those pesky Nats right? Opponent is running out Kennedy and Smyly (luckily for me), whereas I only have Yoga going, pitching cats all close.
Yup…
Good luck!
Start Tillman versus Dubront? SON says absolutely not, but odd line favours him. If I don’t start him, then my only start for all the marbles will Scherzer vs my opponent who is streaming Nolasco and Smyly. We are pretty much tied in K/ERA/WHIP. Thanks
I’d start him…
Morning Grey,
It’s do-or-die day for a championship. Pitching cats are close–I’m up by 12 Ks and leading in ERA/WHIP by razor thin margins. Opponent has Cliff Lee, YoGa, and Chris Young going today. I have nobody going, save three closers, but can make one last FA move. I’m thinking it’s got to be Chris Tillman or nobody. Is it worth throwing him to try to keep my lead in Ks at the risk of jeopardizing my ratios?
I’d start him…..
I picked up Carlos Gomez and Starling Marte because I’m tied on steals and, that’s right, you guessed it, neither one of those fuckers is starting today. FMFBL x infinity.
Damn, cuz… You’re getting worst shizz luck lately…
@Grey, Tell me about it. This and the Cobb deal were both killers. I’m leading 7-5 and 7-4 respectively in my leagues. Praying to the fantasy baseball gods that they will recognize the hundreds of hours I’ve put into my teams over the last 6 months and see fit to allow me to overcome this spate of shitty luck.
Ha! Yeah, I hear ya… The FBG’s can be spiteful SOB’s…
Alright yankees, both my opponents have AJ Griffin. Its time to start crank up the HR derby…
Of course AJ Griffin got drilled in detroit when I streamed him earlier this week and now he’s shutting down the yanks in the bronx. (he gave up 3 jacks and the rest of my pitchers have given up a total of 4)
@letsgobravos,
Hallelujah! Literally 5 seconds after I typed that, Swisher comes through with a 2 run jack! I’m taking full credit for that shit.
Swisher thanks you too!
Fuck…Scherzer blows his W and QS…
Still leading in both leagues. Fuck I wish I could fast forward to tonight and have Ws in both. Not feeling great about my chances of that.
Damn, where you at?
@Grey,
Leading 7-5 still in both leagues. The one where I have no pitchers going, my lead in Ks is down to 3 so its inevitable at this point that he’s going to get me there. I have a .10 lead on BA and I trail by 2 on runs. Looks like a good chance it could end up being tied 6-6…
The other league, also up 7-5, but its been fluctuating with every AB because WHIP is 1.22-1.23. Weaver’s loaded them in the 1st and I need him to give keep putting guys on base. My lead on Ks is down to 6 and my opponent has Floyd and Weaver left while I have Smyly later tonight.
This shit is nerve racking as fuck. Two of the closest weekly matchups I’ve ever been a part of.
@letsgobravos, The good news on the first league is that if it does end up 6-6, I beat him in both regular season meetings and thus own the tie breaker.
@letsgobravos, Actually have the tie break over the team in both leagues. Beat the team in the second league 12-2 and 7-3 and its going to suck if he beats me now that it matters.
@letsgobravos, Speaking of which, he just took the lead for the first time because Floyd, Burnett and Papplebon piled up 5ks over a span of 2 minutes. FUCK.
Damn…damn! Come on, tiebreaker!
@Grey, Down 5-7 there now. HRs and SBs are tied and I could desperately use one of each. He’s got me on WHIP and Ks now and Hudson just picked up a W to close my lead there to 1. Burnett only needs one more inning to get the QS which will cut my lead there to 1. Floyd and Weaver need to both blow the fuck up…
Dread pirate just doubled. Fantasy baseball gods, please green light him to steal 3rd…
@letsgobravos, Soriano with a slam and legs…unfortunately he’s playing on the wrong team for me. Have SBs locked up there and I’m too far behind on HRs to matter.
Shizz, where you at now?
@Grey,
Up 7-5 in the league where I was out of moves and trying to hang on in the pitching cats today. Opponent came up 2 short on Ks and he’s out of pitchers. Provided none of my closers come in and give up 4 or 5 runs to blow my big lead on ERA/WHIP, I’ve got the W wrapped up.
Looks like I’m going down in the other league. From winning 7-5 an hour ago to down 8-3 now. Down by 13 in Ks and he’s tied it up on Ws and QSs and opened up a .05 lead on WHIP. He also added a SB to take the lead there. In order to come back, Ill need a Ryanesque start from Smyly tonight to catch up on Ks and get the W and QS and pull back ahead on WHIP.
GUess you’ll have to take the push to put the record at 1-1, sorry you couldn’t close out both…
@Grey, Yeah, it stings, but my team that won was definitely the better of my two teams this year. Finished with a .620 winning % for the year and I spent most of the summer in 1st place. Definitely happy that I’m still playing baseball for another week because it could have gone either way.
My team that’s out was the #4 seed. Had a sick pitching staff with Gio, Price, Medlen and Scherzer. CJ Wilson fell apart down the stretch so that definitely hurt. Also sucks that I owned Rios early and gave up on him before he got hot. Just can’t expect to win when your offense is as pathetic as mine was this week. (.239 BA, 20 RBIs.) The team I lost to was the #8 seed which definitely makes it worse. Guy was 12 games under .500 and only got into the playoffs because another team laid an egg and lost 11-1 in the last week of the regular season. He beat the #1 seed last week though so at least I’m in good company, I suppose.
Yeah, the Rios call I take some responsibility for, but I also touted Gio, Medlen and Price a crapton, so it just wasn’t meant to be… Shizz happens…
@Grey, Yeah, definitely not your fault. You can’t be right on everything and in sum, your advice helped a ton. Definitely wouldn’t have had Gio anchoring both pitching staffs without you.
@letsgobravos, …and now we just need to find the next under the radar pitcher that we can all target in the 8th or 9th round who will contend for the Cy Young. Should be pretty easy, right? haha.
Thanks for understanding… Yeah, it’s hard to find a Gio every year, but I tend to do well on below-the radar SPs, slightly better than on hitters…
Grey which 2 would start today? We count holds ans saves
Gregorson @SF (padres seemed to have burned out)
Chapman v LAD (pitched yesterday)
Jepsen v CWS
Thanks as always
Gregerson, Jepsen
pick 3; morse, beltran, cargo or aoki
Not Beltran…
Gonna win the 5th/6th playoff easily.
Yay.
Lowercase yay.
@Grey Now that the Reds have clinched do you think that Votto and Bruce will get adequate ab’s from now until the end of the season? Stanton? Thanks!
I wouldn’t trust any of them to get everyday ABs… Votto and Bruce could sit 3 times in the last week plus…
@Grey, It’ll hurt to drop ‘em (maybe not Bruce) but it’s not a keeper so we’ll go with the hot schmotatos!
@Grey, Damn, that’s going to hurt me. I’ve got Votto. I guess it helps my opponent has Bruce, but that’s definitely not an even trade. I played this week without Stanton and I desperately need him to get back in the lineup tomorrow.
I’m worried Stanton may get shut down… I want him back too, trust me… Votto could play, but doesn’t seem smart for them to play him every day…
@Grey, I’ve pretty much given up hope of Stanton providing any more value this season. Dont get me started on Tulo….
Yeah, Stanton’s a bummer… Imagine if we would’ve got 6 months from him…
@Grey, Damn, I hope not. There’s a $400 difference in 1st and 2nd in the league I made the finals in. Soriano has been hot the last couple of days so maybe he can take up Stanton’s slack. Also have Beltre and Aoki so hopefully those 3 will keep rolling and carry me this week.
Yeah, fingers crossed….
@Grey: have a feeling my roto league is going to come down to saves. Can start any of the following 3 next week. Which 3 do you like? Aroldis, Kenley, Hanrahan, League, Gregerson, Romo, Rauch, Downs and Jepsen. Thanks.
Tough calls… Hanrahan, Aroldis, Rauch
@Grey, Thanks….make it to the master?
Looking like next Saturday, unless I go to the county fair… Or the baseball season suddenly ends a week early and I get a weeknight off…
Oh why is baseball so cruel? We are tied in H2H and tied in saves, I have Jansen and he has Aroldis…so you know what that means….
Tie takes me through too. So its literally gonna come down to the final innings…not sure ill have any fingernails left by then!
Bingo A-Gonz HR!
So is it still tied or did the A-Gon homer fix everything by the time you wrote your comment?
Awww. The last day with my H2H guys.
I’ll kinda miss them, though the pain of last week hasn’t quite dissipated.
You definitely swearing off H2H for next year?
@Grey, At this stage, yes. But I’ve been here before…
I hear ya… H2H isn’t bad if you can remember that it’s a lot more luck and you keep that in mind when getting frustrated…
@Grey, I think you’ve hit on the problem there…
Ha… Yeah, I hear ya…
@Grey, Guy that beat me got another lucky win this week. Grrrrrrrr.
Who’s carrying his team?
@Grey, Miggy/Wieters.
And he won WHIP today thanks to Benoit’s 2 innings of relief.
Though even if I’d won last week, I probably wouldn’t have won this week, so there’s that.
Gotcha… Yeah, hard to fault Miggy’s production for him, but Wieters seems to just get hot for the end of the season…
@Grey, I think it would be a lot easier to keep that in mind if roto didn’t exist. I spend about the same amount of time working on my h2h league as I do my roto leagues, but that time carries more value when spent with the roto leagues.
Anyhow, it seems that the healthier way to approach h2h would be to just half ass it all year, which sounds less fun and rewarding. I’m sure I’d be singing a different tune if I hadn’t been eliminated immediately…
Yeah, definitely more value… I think the draft could be more fun if you know that the last few weeks are luck… So you go a bit more crazy with your draft knowing you can play hot hitters from week to week if you need to…
Hey Grey,
Looking for a spot-start hitter for tomorrow. Who would you go with? Thanks!
Eaton @ Col (Chatwood)
Rosario vs. Ari (Cahill)
Nelson vs. Col (Cahill)
Marte @ NYM (Mejia)
Murphy vs. Oak (Straily)
Eaton….
Even if the Tigers make the playoffs, you wouldn’t bet the house on them winning too many close games.
What? They have Valverde!
battle of the dan’s at second base; dan uggla or dan murphy…or jose “dan” altuve?
Ha… I would’ve said Dan Altuve, but he’s hurt, so gotta go Uggla…
@Grey, great minds think alike. haha
@grey: better catcher with sal Perez dinged up, need sbs and hrs, weekly roto:
Lucroy (1 @ was, 3 @ cin, 3 vs hou)
Donaldson (4 @ tex, 3 vs sea)
Thanks.
@Herschel, all shitty parks to look for homers in, huh?
Donaldson
@grey: two more questions, same league, need sbs and hrs (in that order).
Better OF:
McClouth (3 vs tor, 3 vs bos)
Cargo lite (1 @ was, 3@ cin, 3 vs hou)
Better sagnof:
Ciriaco (2 Vs tb, 3 @ bal)
Evercab (3 vs lad, 3 vs sf)
Thanks.
CarGo… EverCab
Should i be starting kershaw this week?
Go to my newest post…
Kershaw or Parker?
