There are 15 games on today’s slate. That means there are 30 starting pitchers to choose from. Well… Don’t have a cow, Man! Just pick Big Bart. Bartolo Colon has a 2.25 ERA in four starts this month, with a 15:4 strikeout to walk ratio. Tonight, the Phillies are in town and have not done well vs Colon this season. In three games, the Phillies only had a .206 BA and a .588 OPS, with a 15:3 strikeout to walk ratio. In 267 career inning pitching in Citi Field, opposing hitters have only managed a .715 OPS off Colon. Right handed pitchers should be happy when they get to face the Phillies, who have a 21.8% strikeout rate and a 84 wRC+. Ay Caramba, that’s bad! The Phillies will be eating Big Bart’s shorts by the end of this game. And with that, here are the rest of my Friday DFS picks…

David Phelps, SP: $8,700 – It was has been quite the month for the most decorated Olympian of all time … sorry, wrong Phelps. But, David Phelps has had a solid August as well. In four starts, Phelps has a 1.31 ERA an 11.32 K/9. He even pitched 4.1 scoreless innings in Coors! Today he gets the Padres, so the success should continue.

Buster Posey, C: $3,800 – You can get him for under 4K and is only the 9th most expensive catcher. The Braves will be going with Joel De La Cruz, who owns a 4.62 ERA in 37 innings as a starter.

Carlos Santana, 1B: $3,700 – Why do we like him … because he gets on base. Since 2012, only Votto (19%) and Bautista (15.3%) have a high walk rate than Santana (15.2%).

Jose Altuve, 2B: $4,400 – Smyly was solid to start the season, but looks like a different pitcher in the second half. He has a 4.14 ERA since the start of July. Altuve can do it all. He is a beast and dominates lefties.

Chase Headley, 3B: $3,600 – Gary Sanchez? Aaron Judge? No, how about the old guy? There are a couple reasons I like him. He will be lowly owned. Relativity low cost. He will be batting from the left side of the plate and can take advantage of the short right porch.

Jonathan Villar, SS: $4,800 – Ryan Vogelsong is pathetic vs LHB. Averaging nearly 10 fantasy points per game this season, Villar is one of the best options at the SS position today.

Stephen Piscotty, OF: $5,300 – The Cardinals outfielders have been HOT, and today get to tee off against Ross Detwiler. If you can’t afford Piscotty, then Grichuk and Pham are solid options with the lefty on the mound.

Jose Bautista, OF: $4,000 – Soft throwing lefty Pat Dean pitched 6 innings with 3 hits and 2 runs in his last outing vs the Blue Jays. This time may not be as easy for him. Jose is back from injury and is hungry for homers.

Scott Schebler, OF: $3,000 – After an 0-27 slump, Schebler is batting .306 in his past 10 games. The Diamondbacks will be sending out Braden Shipley who has gave up 6 homers to LHB in 22 innings.

I’m Only Happy When it Rains,

We are in the clear! Relatively clear skies across the league tonight. Heavy 12 mph winds blowing out to straight away center in AT&T may help Posey push one out of the park.

Doing Lines In Vegas

A lot of mediocre pitcherd are take the mound tonight. That means runs! Both CIN/ARI and MIN/TOR have totals of 10. PIT/MIL and BAL/NYY are right behind at 9.5. Followed by COL/WAS, KC/BOS, CLE/TEX, and OAK/STL all at 9. Verlander and the Tigers comes in as the biggest favorite at -210. Vegas likes Liriano and Jays, as the Jays are -200 and Lirano will only cost you $6,900. Samardzija and the Giants are also -200 favorites. Phelps and Gonzalez are close behind at -190.
