Today is an interesting mix, wouldn’t you say?  There’s really only one sure thing at pitcher (sorry Stras), and there are many stacks that I like. With six games on the slate (MLB Thu 7:10 PM EDT – $2 entry – 1/20 spots filled and Top 5 paid…), why not get a little bit of the action from both of the big stacks? Straight to the cash, homie…

Chris Sale, P: $11,300 – He’s a no brainer for the second week in a row.  Sale has a beauty of a matchup this week against the Twins.  Despite the Minnesota offense coming alive against Shane Greene on Wednesday, it’s not a good unit.  Sale is the most expensive pitcher, but he’s worth it.

Daniel Norris, P: $5,900 – Which Daniel Norris will we see this time out?  If he sticks to his albeit short season script, it will be bad Norris.  However, he pitched a gem last weekend on his birthday, and showed the signs of the talent that is there.  Backed with the high-scoring Blue Jays’ offense, as well as being opposed by T.J. House, Norris is a good value play at $5,900.

Kevin Plawecki, C: $2,500 – Punting at catcher yet again.  I do like Sal Perez’s value against Detroit, but I want to load up elsewhere, so I’ll take the young rookie against Stephen Strasburg.

Lucas Duda, 1B: $3,900 – You must not know bout me, you must not know bout me.  Don’t you ever for a second, Strasburg, think you’re irreplaceable (or unhittable).  I actually like the Mets with deGrom going against Strasburg in the NL East showdown.  I still like Strasburg as a buy-low candidate as a fringe No. 1 pitcher, but I’ll take Lucas Duda at $3,900, who has one career hit (a homer) off the Nationals co-ace.

Devon Travis, 2B: $3,600 – Is he dressed up Cinderella, or is he the hated step-sister?  Well, he’s neither, because he’s Devon Travis.  Either way, since he’s leading off for the Jays, I’ll run him out each time until he runs out of gas.  Jose Altuve, while expensive, is a good alternate option against the left-handed James Paxton, in what should be a high-scoring game.

Josh Donaldson, 3B: $5,700 – Donaldson is batting .500 against left-handers this year, albeit a small sample size.  Going back to last year, Donaldson hit .275 against left-handers with 14 homers.  House has given up just one homer on the season, but gave up 10 in 100 innings pitched last year.  It’s a juicy matchup for Donaldson.  If you want a less expensive option, look at Kyle Seager against Scott Feldman.  The matchup is perfect.

Jose Iglesias, SS: $3,200 – He’s another Travis for me.  I’m going to play him at his value until he runs out of steam.  Don’t expect any steals, however, as Perez has an insane 75 percent caught stealing rate.

Nelson Cruz, OF: $5,500 – Nelson Cruz.  In Houston.  With the Crawford Boxes.  Against Scott Feldman.  Yes, please.  I don’t care about the small sample lifetime numbers (2-10).  He’s a must-play tonight.

Bryce Harper, OF: $4,100 – I just can’t get away from Harper.  His patience at the plate has been a plus for him this year, and every point counts in DraftKings.

J.D. Martinez, OF: $4,300 – I’ve learned that outfield is the best position to punt at for DFS.  Not on Thursday’s.  The options just haven’t been there.  I’ll take Martinez against the left-handed Duffy, please.  Seth Smith, who crushes righties, is a good contrarian play here at $3,800.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

The only threat of rain comes in Cleveland, where the city as a whole is used to dark, permanent clouds.  It’s only at 17 percent at first pitch, but it increases to 60 percent at 9 p.m. It doesn’t scare me enough to fade this game, especially with the limited alternative options.

Doing Lines In Vegas

The Seattle/Houston game opens up as the highest scoring game in Vegas, with a over/under of 8.5 runs.  There’s a lot of contrarian plays available here.
