The title pretty much says it all, so instead of a big intro this opening paragraph will link you to some more helpful information regarding prospects. Here are the Top 30 prospects for 2015 redraft leagues. Here are the American League and National League Top 10 prospect indexes. We also have the Top 20 2014 signees for first-year player drafts in dynasty formats. Last but not least, here are my Top 100 keeper rankings. In the prospect rankings below, more specific ETAs are given as well as links to the organizational top ten list for each player. Just click on the team abbreviation to view my comments on individual prospects. Only two-thirds of the teams are written up, so apologies if not all of the links are live just yet. Ages listed are as of Opening Day 2015. Here are the Top 50 prospects for 2015 fantasy baseball…

98.99% of these guys are gone in my RazzNasty draft. I have zero. Will there be a follow up? Like another 50? On or before Tuesday please.

      oops!

        (link)

@Mike: LOL. Mike, you don’t have to be that nice to guys like that. I know him personally. Let’s just say we co-manage a RazzNasty team. He is an emotionless robot created in the pursuit of the first Razznasty championship.

@Mike: give him his own “insider” list, that specfies garbage players, so you, Mike can draft the good ones at your leisure.

  3. Lville Jim says:

Guess the Astros will not be in a hurry with Correa considering that they certainly won’t be contending this season. I’m hoping he plays well enough to force a call up before September but I wont be holding my breath. As usual nice job on the write up.

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

thanks! yeah, I think maybe the injury played a part, but I’d be surprised if we saw him before September in 2015, but a good chance he breaks camp in 2016. That could certainly change over the course of the season though. These ETAs are moving targets :)

  4. Chris says:

I traded away Buxton in my keeper league just a few weeks ago. Hard to do, but I finished top 3 last year and Buxton nabbed me King Felix giving me a chance for the gold this year.

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

nothing wrong with that! I did the same to get Carlos Gomez in one keeper league :)

      @Chris: I like the move.

  6. goodfold2 says:
    (link)

hey mike, do you know if that middle man money holder site SportsVault that Razzball used to be sponsored by is still existent and safe? I want to ask around before i decide on this one over LeagueSafe, as leaguesafe is well known, but SportsVault has no rake (so you lose no money either going in or out)

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

I have no idea…sorry. I still do it the old fashioned way in my money leagues

      • goodfold2 says:
        (link)

@Mike: i’d rather do it that way too, but i took over a league last year (long time league), mostly since comish since the start was tired of bums owing him money. My co-comish can vouch for some, but not all, of the other owners, so i’m gonna have to make at least half of the buy in forced predraft (this league never forced whole money predraft ever). I WILL NOT claim that X amount of money is in pot and then reverse course later, like previous comish did, this is since previous comish would vouch for people, and then when some of them didn’t pay he’d simply say “pot is light”. So his word is worth shit really, mine isn’t.

        • Mike

          Mike says:

yikes, yeah that sounds messy…good luck!

    • jonboy says:

@goodfold2: Leaguesafe bought Sportsvault a year or so ago.

      • goodfold2 says:
        (link)

@jonboy: i just contacted leaguesafe, and they said the name of the company they aquired was not SportsVault, but Fantasy Sports Vault (a different company, not the one previously that sponsored Razzball)

  7. The Great Knoche says:
    (link)

    Mike,

In a dynasty league where we only get to keep prospects going into next year if they end up on a major league roster in September or earlier and we put them on our rosters at$6. We draft them separately once all are rosters are full. We draft after camp breaks on 4/4 so if someone is already on a roster for opening day they area on longer eligible to be drafted as am prospect, they are part of our regular auction.

I have the 9th of 10 picks in prospect draft. Anyone that late who would be worthy keeping in 2016 for $10 in a $260 auction who will end up on an MLB roster this year? 10 team league.

    • The Great Knoche says:
      (link)

@The Great Knoche: that should say “they are no longer” damn phone.

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

any of the guys on this list with a late 2015/early 2016 ERA might be worth it, but to be honest $10 is a lot of money for a rookie

  8. Alcibiades Escobar says:
    (link)

    Mike,

Nice work. Where would you look to draft Kris Bryant in a 10-team, 5-player H2H keeper league?

    • Mike

thanks! I’d start looking at him in the 4th/5th round

          haha nice

  9. Aaron says:
    (link)

Hi there. Great stuff as usual. How patient would you be with Giolito? I know the Nats will bring him along slowly like they did with JZIMM and Stras, but would you hold onto Lucas throughout this year and next if you only had a 3-man prospect system?

We’re a 14-team salaried keeper league and each team has 3 free prospect slots where guys can be stashed for any amount of time as long as they’re under the rookie limits (150ab/50ip, I think). Usually I get guys close to the majors and replenish my farm the next season with other guys close to debuting. But last year I snagged Giolito and his stock has risen considerably. Be patient with him or toss him back for a hitter who’s on the brink? My other 2 slots belong to Joc P and Addison Russell. Thanks in advance.

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

Thanks! I think you’ve got a really solid 3 there and I would hold all of them.

      • Aaron says:
        (link)

@Mike: Ok, thanks. Now I just need a couple of my half-dozen iffy SPs to work out. My rotation will either be elite or complete junk, lol. Injured aces Sale, JFern & Richards will be solid eventually, but after that it’s a myriad of mediocre. CMart, Duffy, Hahn, Greene & Keuchel. Crossing my fingers.

        • Mike

          Mike says:
          (link)

          no problem…for 14-teamer that’s not a bad staff.

I like Duffy and CMart especially

          • Aaron says:
            (link)

@Mike: Yeah my offense was pretty set with my 10 keepers, so I focused on young pitching in the draft. In retrospect I probably shouldn’t have gone quite as risky with some of the picks, but I figure at least two of the five should give me 170IP and a dozen wins. If not, I can always go spend the $20+MM on Verlander, who went undrafted lol.

            • Mike

              Mike says:

mike, do you know how to enable yahoo’s classic draft page, their forcing their awful new one, in which you can only see 8 names at a time. font is too big and space is left unused besides

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

hmmm….I’m not sure how to change the format, but there is usually a toggle in the corner or something in settings. I’m not familiar with Y! to be honest.

You could always CTRL+scroll to zoom your browser in and out :)

    • goodfold2 says:
      (link)

@goodfold2: nevermind, the way to do this is to log into our drafts from the “notes” link to the right of your league name, rather than the bigger blue button on right of the page.

      • goodfold2 says:
        (link)

@goodfold2: if you’ve ever done a mock at yahoo you’ll know what i mean when i say you don’t want to actually draft on that one. Yahoo’s regular one rules,

        • Mike

          Mike says:
          (link)

nice…yeah I just never got into Yahoo for some reason

My 2 other keepers are Carlos Gomez and Puig.

Beltre since you’ve got 2 OF already

    • Mike

    • Swfcdan says:

      • Mike

        sure thing…that sounds like a win-win

        • Swfcdan says:
          (link)

@Mike: Buxton over Bryant? Wow! That speaks a lot for Buxton’s potential after the monstrous year Bryant just had. Whats a upside projection for Buxton’s peak years, .300, 20/40?

          • Mike

            Mike says:
            (link)

yup, they are basically a 1 and 1A obviously, but I personally like Buxton’s ability to stuff all five categories

            • Swfcdan says:
              (link)

@Mike: My other prospect draft starts tommorow, top bats are Gallo, Moncada (great timing Red Sox!), Rusney and Tomas.

I’v got a lot of early picks through trading and other things, hence my excitement for this draft. My first is the no2 pick, is there any reason not to take Gallo or Moncada there (whoever falls)? I don’t see either Tomas/Rusney being the next Puig/Abreu.

              • Mike

                Mike says:

      Polanco

  17. Hey Mike,

    Great stuff!

AL only keeper league. Keep as long as you like.
    Get: Longo and Souza
    Give: Machado and Feli

    Thanks as always!

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

      thanks!

      tough one…I like Machado there

      • @Mike: first day for trading so I have another one to run by you. Same league.

        Get: Cruz, shoemaker, Napoli, Nathan
        Give: Pompey, Salazar, Feliz

        • Mike

          Mike says:
          (link)

I think you get more value in the Cruz package, even though the players are older

  18. Jammer McSlam says:
    (link)

Another strictly potential question. Can you rank Amed Rosario, Monte Harrison, Eloy Jimenez, Jomar Reyes?

How much more likely do you think it is for each player to reach their potential?

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

      Rosario, Harrison, Reyes, Jimenez

They are all lottery tickets, honestly

  20. Regan says:
    (link)

Not really about prospects just looking for advice in general lol

10-team keeper, head to head category. We get to keep 5 each. I’m keeping McCutchen, Kershaw, and Abreu for sure. Also have Cano, Sale, Desmond, MadBum, Frazier, Harvey, and Springer to name the best. Who should I keep with those first 3? And should I trade some players I’m not keeping for draft picks? Was offered 3rd overall pick for MadBum. Looking to see if you could advise me about the value of draft picks, since everyone keeps 5 there’s no stars left.

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

Cano, Sale….trade Bum for 3rd overall, sure

      • Mike

        Mike says:
        (link)

        Desmond, not Cano…sorry

  21. Oppo Taco says:
    (link)

Hey Mike our 12 team 5×5 keeper draft is next week, wanted to get an idea of who I should target. I have the 3rd and 13th overall picks but then don’t have another selection for about 30 picks. Which of these two guys would you try to target? Keep in mind Im likely to only get one of them (might get Myers 13th)
Keepers : Cutch, Goldy. J up, Hanley, Rizzo, Bautista, Bumgarner, Cole

TOP AVAILABLE PICKS : Kimbrel (only chapman is kept for closers), Cobb, Soler, Myers, Alex Wood, Betts, Yelich, Holliday, Ortiz, Iwakuma. These are the best guys available. Thanks!

      Mike says:

  22. Alan says:

      (link)

      yup

  23. MB says:

      I’ll take the trio

  24. keegan says:

need some keeper help. I have EE and Brantley as keepers but I am torn on the third one. Do you keep mookie betts for the next 3 years or alex cobb for the next 2? EE is in his final year as a keeper and brantley has 3 years left.

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

      I’d take Betts

      • keegan says:
        (link)

        @Mike:
Thank you sir. I thought it was a no brainer to keep betts up until all of this victorino starting in RF talk. I just hate keeping pitchers because they always get hurt.

        • Mike

          Mike says:
          (link)

no problem…that will work itself out

  25. Mike says:
    (link)

    Nice writeup!

Question about DJ Peterson – what are your thoughts on him long-term a) in Seattle or b)if/when he gets traded? Seems to be a bit of a butcher at 3B and there’s no room at 1B at the moment in Seattle.

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

      thanks!

      a) wish he were somewhere else!
      b) I think a move to first base is more likely than a trade in his case

      • Mike says:
        (link)

        @Mike: Creepily fast reply!

If he became a 1B fulltime, how would that affect him in your rankings? I’m currently stashing Olson in my dynasty league (it counts BB and OPS as categories so his middling AVG is mitigated) and may be flipping Souza or Avisail for Peterson, but is that overestimating his potential in the near future?

        • Mike

          Mike says:
          (link)

haha…it notifies me when there’s a comment. I’m not stalking you I swear

To be honest, I ranked him with 1B in mind, so it wouldn’t change his ranking. It might be overestimating his short-term impact, yes, but it’s not a terrible flip

  26. Dave says:
    (link)

Am I overrating Peraza? Seems like he has the chance to be the next big speed guy. At 2b that’s pretty valuable, especially in roto.

I think the knock is partly his size, his swing is a little funky, and he hasn’t been tested against more advanced pitching yet. There are questions also about what kind of power will surface.

He’s pretty tasty for fantasy IMO though…but it’s a bit of a gamble

    Hey Mike,

I am in a 16 team dynasty. I was offered Rizzo and a 1st rd pick for Goldy. Whats your thought of Rizzo/pick vs Goldy. I gave up my 1st 4 picks last year. As always, I appreciate your advise.

My 6 keepers right now are:
    Goldy
    Cargo,
    JUpton
    Dozier
    Yelich
    Wacha

    -Ryan

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

it’s fair…I think you might get a few more dingers from Goldy, but Rizzo is a couple years younger (if we’re talking keepers). If you’re only keeping 6, there might be some good stuff in that first round. I’d take it.

  34. SheriffMcRawDawg says:
    (link)

Big Mike – love the stuff, as always.

Draft strategy question for you. I have the below keepers in a standard 12 team roto w/ 30 man rosters (players can be kept up to 4 years in the round they’re drafted in).

My question: since I’m so heavy on power – how much should I factor in steals / BA when drafting (and is the latter even salvageable?)? For example, my first pick in the draft is #16, where I could most likely take a Justin Upton or Jose Reyes. Am I that in the hole for avg/steals that it should impact my picks that early, or should I go for Dalton Pompey-types later on for steals?

    6th – Cruz
    9th – Trumbo
    10th – Gray
    18th – Crush Davis
    21st – Lorenzo Cain
    23rd – Brandon Moss
    24th – Hahn
    25th – Keuchal
    28th – Arenado

    Thanks

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

      thanks!

I always try to draft best player available as long as possible…you can worry about filling certain categories/positions later in the draft (like the Pompey example you gave)

I will say that I try to get my steals from my MIs moreso than my OF, but the cookie doesn’t always crumble that way

      • SheriffMcRawDawg says:
        (link)

        @Mike: thanks Mike!

another question regarding the format above (w/ my keepers tied to rounds they’re drafted in, etc.) – do you think 3rd /4th/5th rd is too early to grab Samardjza, Carrasco and Richards? I’m dying to grab all 3 and don’t mind reaching, but this is a league where you can keep guys for up to 4 years in the round they’re drafted in – would it be self defeating to draft them this ‘early’? keep in mind each team has 8 keepers (I actually have 9, with no first round pick).

Really trying to decide the best time to go after a joc pederson /souza type as well (if they’d be there in the 11th in this type of league, etc.)

        Anything helps as usual! thanks!

        • Mike

          Mike says:
          (link)

okay, so 12 teams x 8 keepers each puts you at pick 96…another 3 rounds would be 130-140 overall? I don’t think it’s crazy to go two of those three there. I would be hesitant to go three pitchers in a row, but that’s just me.

          • SheriffMcRawDawg says:
            (link)

@Mike: that’s why I feel weird about it too. thing is, I’m hoping to grab a J Upton/Car-Go with my 2nd pick to get me to 3 OFs and wait on MI while the crap is being scooped up and hopefully grab like a mix of Alcedes/ Santana / Lawrie / Gyorko types and feel like my pitching would basically be set with those 3 until middle-late rounds. And yes I’m overthinking today’s draft already.

            • Mike

              (link)

@Mike: last time Mike – just drafted – what do you think? (12 team, 30-man rosters and keepers (8 total) can be kept for 4 years in the round they’re drafted in). Not a big fan, but it’s not too bad considering I didn’t have a 1st rder:

                C – Martin (136)
                C – Vogt (328)
                1B – Trumbo (105 – K)

                Bn – Jose Ramirez (256)
                Bn – Michael Taylor (345)

                SP – Samardzija (33)
                SP – Richards (57)
                SP – Gray (112 – K)
                SP – Shoemaker (177)
                RP – Cishek (81)
                RP – Nathan (160)
                P – Keuchal (297 – K)
                P – Hahn (280 – K)

    • Mike

      Mike says:
      (link)

Hultzen’s ceiling was never as high as Giolito’s to begin with, and coming back from TJ surgery is a lot different than coming back from a serious shoulder injury. Not saying it’s impossible, but you can’t really compare the two.

      • tyler says:
        (link)

@Mike: you are the expert so please take this the grain of salt, but look back at that 2011 first round, the names are all guys either o this list, or baez, springer, wong, j fernendez, panik, gray rendon bauer who were the top rookies of the last two years, and hultzen was taken ahead of them all. he must have had a bit of upside to be the number two pick in the draft.

guy actually went for harrison/bundy/stephenson for my paxton/d.holland/aramis, i forgot about a rule in this league, you CAN’T have more than the 5 NA players you slot in; since we have very big benches this prevents teams from tanking and when they do just hoarding a lot of prospects. This opp also has rodon/n.gordon/syndergaard/gray/bradley, so clearly he’s stashed the shit outta high end pitchers, and as soon as a few more got their tags he’d have to drop them.

    • Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey says:
      (link)

@Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey: i guess i now drop h.harvey/h.dozier (and slot taillon into NA slot when he gets it), and go about trading one of stephenson/bundy/taillon to upgrade my hitting prospects, now are only tapia/mondesi. Also, which two of these SP do i replace Paxton/Holland with to make SP 10 and 11?
happ (i’m assuming he’s one of them)/vogel/worley/colon/c.anderson/house/santiago/floyd/despaigne/collmenter/pomeranz/b.anderson/colome/gibson/lyles/delgado/tomlin/marco gonzales. dynasty 16 teamer with deep benches and OBPA/QS/losses extra cats.

Mike — I dont think ive ever commented on your prospect posts, but this is one of my favorite topics in baseball.

Question — Who is your favorite breakout candidate this year? Not players like bryant, buxton,…etc. but who are your prospect sleepers that could make a big jump in the rankings in 2015? Thanks for the time and I always enjoy reading your updates!

      thanks!

it’s hard to say without knowing who’s available, but sometimes guys in the low minors start to get noticed more as they advance…guys like Aquino on the Reds or Sierra on the Cards come to mind

Leonardo Molina of the Yankees is another name to keep on your radar
