Too soon? Were we all too soon on Devers in 2018? Has the warm fuzzy feeling of the Red Sox future star Third Baseman waned, or is this the time to buy in? We examined him for our 2019 Fantasy Baseball Video Draft Guide, and identify him as a high upside buy low target for the upcoming season.

I’m going to pass. Ill let someone else take the risk and I’ll grab someone that is more sure at his ADP. Not saying the kid can’t turn it around, but I don’t want to find out this season. Next season I’ll know a lot more about him. Just not a guy I feel like rolling the dice on.

And when you say a guy is “only” 22 , that can be looked at two ways. The second way is he may be too young and over-matched and might need a few years of seasoning before he really comes into his own. That’s the camp I’m in.

Where would you take him in upstart dynasty OBP?

The scary issue with Devers is the possible platoon if he continues to struggle against lefties. If hes on a team that would allow him to work thru his struggles, i’d say yes. But the Red Sox have options against lefties if Devers continues to have a hard time against LHP. I would take a shot at the current ADP with tempered expectations.

@Dinkleberg: Yeah, his relationship with Cora makes me doubt they give up on him. His book is not written.

I was *this* close to writing a sleeper post for Devers, but I got kinda spooked by his righty/lefty splits, high ground balls and low fly balls… Just wasn’t able to get fully in…
