1. C Rainiel Rodriguez | 20 | AA | 2027

Comfortably among the best hitting prospects in the game, Rodriguez is listed at 5’10” 197 pounds with a quick right-handed cut. If you’ve been around a while, you’ll know the next sentence refers to this human being larger than his listed weight. He’s already generating easy power to all fields, and St. Louis has promoted him quickly, but with their catcher position stacked several studs deep, they’ve got several decisions to make in short order. Rodriguez is forcing the issue on the field, slashing .324/.417/.574 in 115 games across two levels. That’s the kind of bat you don’t handcuff to some dream of topside defensive value, but Rodriguez can really play the position, and this is the perfect organization to mix him in behind the plate while his bat develops against major league pitching.

2. OF Joshua Baez | 23 | MLB | 2026

Baez bashed 34 homers in 103 games before getting promoted to St. Louis, where he added another seven home runs in 29 major league games. He might’ve wound up spending a couple months too many in the minors, but it’s hard to fault the red birds for wanting to find any edge they can to catch up with the Brewers. The Cardinals did get three pitchers from Arizona in return for Lars Nootbaar at the deadline, so the slow-play on Baez worked out, I guess. Let’s hope they’re happy to see what he can do with a real opportunity in 2027, assuming any major league baseball player gets a real opportunity in 2027.

3. OF Trevor Condon | 19 | A | 2029

The 13th overall pick in this summer’s draft, Condon features a rare combination of power, speed and centerfield defense. He hit well enough for seven games in Low-A (.321/.387/.536) that we can be optimistic about his chances to fulfill his five-tool potential.

4. OF Alexander Frias | 19 | A | 2030

Frias came from Milwaukee in the Dustin May trade that has so far (big shock I know) turned out bubbly for the Brewers. A left-handed hitter with wicked bat speed at 6’2” 177 pounds, Frias reminds me of my favorite Cardinals prospect of all time: Oscar Taveras, especially in the way he can damage pitches from a variety of attack angles. He was electric on the complex and then roughly league average in full-season ball. Tally it all up and he played 86 games and slashed .314/.405/.500 with ten home runs and 25 stolen bases.

5. LHP Liam Doyle | 22 | AA | 2027

At 6’2” 220 pounds, Doyle is an energetic lefty with a dominant fastball that tends to be the barometer for how his outings will go: when he’s hitting his spots with the high-90’s heater, he can cruise through most lineups, particularly right-handed lineups because the split-change tunnels well from that perspective before it falls off a cliff right as it’s reaching the plate. When he’s not on point with the fastball, things can go south as the walks pile up: 54 in 103 Double-A innings this year. He had six outings allowing at least four walks. Even with the wild streak, he was dominant down the stretch, recording a 1.78 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over his final 11 starts spanning 55.2 innings.

6. C Leonardo Bernal | 23 | MLB | 2026

A switch-hitting, Itch-fave who broke out early in 2025, Bernal’s on the precipice of earning a regular lineup spot in 2027 after slashing .282/.333/.474 with five home runs in 22 major league games to close out the 2026 season. He added another 16 homers in Triple-A, and if he hits something like .260 with 20 home run power, he’ll be a fantasy baseball mainstay for a long time.

7. SS Jesus Baez | 22 | AA | 2027

Baez came over from New York in the Ryan Helsley trade of 2025, and it seems like the Cardinals helped him unlock something over the off-season. He hit a career-high 14 home runs through 54 High-A games then caught fire with Double-A Springfield, where he slashed .316/.354/.679 with another 25 home runs in just 59 games. So that’s 39 home runs in 113 games at two levels. He traded some plate discipline for 4x-ing his power output, but that’s a smart swap at this point.

8. SS Yairo Padilla | 19 | A+ | 2028

A switch-hitter listed at 6’0” 170 pounds, Padilla is an exciting talent when he’s on the field, but he’s battled some injury issues. Nonetheless, he reached High-A in just 110 professional games, which is not a lot for an internationally signed teenager. In the 37 games he played across three levels this season, he slashed .275/.359/.486 with five home runs and ten stolen bases. He’s a buy for me.

9. SS Miguel Hernandez | 18 | A | 2029

A right-handed hitter listed at 6’0” 140 pounds, Hernandez had a nice debut season after signing for $500,000 in the 2025 international signing period, but he added a little muscle over the winter and came back even better in year two, slashing .282/.446/.520 with 11 home runs and 18 stolen bases in 72 games across two levels. In Low-A Palm Beach, he was 2.9 years younger than league average but posted a .466 on base percentage in 25 games. This kid could be special.

10. 1B/3B Deniel Ortiz | 22 | AA | 2027

A 14th-round pick in 2024 out of Walters State Community College, Ortiz just keeps hitting homers, stealing bases and taking walks as he climbs the organization ladder. In 62 Double-A games after returning from a wrist injury that cost him about half the season, he slashed .279/.392/.474 with 10 home runs, nine stolen bases and an 18.4 percent strikeout rate.  He’s got an interesting operation: a slow lead leg that hangs in the air while he fires his base and follows with deceptively quick hands. It’s got some Justin Turner to it, but Ortiz still sometimes looks to lace line drives the other way rather than hunting for pull power at every chance.
