Happy Wednesday, Razzballeroos. Back with a quick little midday SAGNOF target for you all this week.
As we get closer to the home stretch in the fantasy baseball season, those of you still in contention in your leagues are looking for places to pick up a point or two wherever you can. If you can stream daily steals to do it, there are plenty of options out there for you, and this one should be in play whenever the San Francisco Giants face a left handed pitcher for the rest of the season.
Meet Jonah Cox. He was called back up on August 14th for his second stint in MLB. The first time he was called up directly from Double-A in June, and he looked completely overmatched, going 5 for 24 with fifteen strikeouts, and two of those hits came off a position player, including his Home Run. He was injured in July and then sent to AAA for a rehab assignment and was optioned there after that. In 11 games there, he went 22 for 47 at Sacramento with five walks before getting recalled on August 14th.
Now there are some problems with this kid at the plate in the majors, as he boasts a 52% K-Rate so far. In the minors this year, however, over 235 plate appearances, he had a respectable 17% rate with a BB% of 8.9. So there should be some middle ground coming. Probably some middle ground coming from his .488 BABIP in the minors this year also.
He is by far the best defensive outfielder in the Giants system as well as the best base stealer. Sprint speed measures up so far at 29.7 Ft/Sec good for 15th in MLB. He’s stolen 170 bases in the minors over four seasons, being caught 31 times, good for 85%.
Cox should see the short side of the platoon in Center Field for the Giants the rest of the way as the Giants try and get a look at who can contribute meaningfully to the club in 2027. If the Giants are facing a lefty and you need steals, grab all the Cox you can get your hands on.

Wednesday, August 26th – Pirates vs Padres
Jake Mangum – Going right back to him after he went 0 for 5 in my last write-up. Value still there for steals, although he’s lost his spot atop the order. He is at 21 stolen bases on the year and still available in over 80% of leagues. His sprint speed is 29.3 Ft/Sec even at 30 years old. He’ll face Randy Vasquez and the Friars today. Ol’ Randy allows .095 SB/IP and a 75.9% success rate against. Freddy Fermin is 2nd in the catcher throwing leaderboard, so if he’s the backstop, this won’t be as good of a play as if it’s Luis Campusano.
Thursday, August 27th – Nationals vs Rockies
Jacob Young – Not many games to target here, so we’re gonna go with a fast guy in Jacob Young at 29.3 Ft/Sc who is 14 for 17 on stolen bases this year. He’ll face Gabriel Hughes, who has allowed just .071 SB/IP thus far, but guys have hit him so hard they haven’t needed to run much. The Nationals are banged up, so manufacturing runs will likely be in the cards for them with Young.
