Let’s talk a little about moves in the Razzball Commenter Leagues.  Moves are the reason RCLs are the easiest leagues to recover from a bad draft.  Moves are also the reason I adore these leagues so much.  I love that the moves I make have a direct impact on my standings, as soon as the same day.  I love to play match-ups, platoon my fifth OF spot like David Ross pinch-hitting for a guy in the third inning.  Maybe I overmanage my RCL teams, but it’s part of the fun.  Maybe I cut bait on a guy too soon, but maybe I can batty call a dinger or two and make up for dropping MHII right before he got scorching hot.  We’ll break this into two parts, first, I want to call attention to our most chronic of rosterbators, those who just can’t keep their hands off their squads.  Down in the top ten section, I’m going to call out our top ten and take a look at their top three draft picks.  These teams had pretty amazing starts and it’s evident in their seasons so far.  So, without further ado, here are our top ten move-makers this season:

TEAM LEAGUE MOVES LEAGUE PTS
Son Perts League 315 93.5
Longballers RCL 29 248 81.5
Young Guns II RCL 18 247 71
Livin’ on a Prayer FCL 242 56
Vin Frequent FCL 233 53.5
Work the Wire Catch Fire RCL 36 226 80
Backdoor Cutters NOTLZ 219 75
New Jersey Ninjas RCL 9 217 74.5
Kwantum Leap RCL 12 212 72
dwightford RCL 27 211 68

Is it worth it to make this many moves?  Of these teams, Son is the only one in the top 20 overall and the only one over 90 league points.  It’s not a guarantee, but it sure can help.  We’ll look at the number of moves our top ten have made this season, along with their draft starts down below.  For now, the rest of the week that was, week 12:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

The Great Knoche had the biggest point gain this week (6.5), but Cram It had a nice week too (4).  Each moved up one spot, putting Crammy in second and just four points out of first and Knoche moved into fourth, just three points behind Grey now.  Cram It led the league in Runs and Knoche led the league in Saves during their big weeks.  Going the other way was Malamoney who dropped six points and fell to last place and Son, who dropped five and now risks some heat.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

Ryan Beck remains in the top spot, at this point, no one is catching him.  Yatta slipped to fifth as Kevin Strutz, Curtis Jones, and Kevork Mahserejian all move up.  Grimey is holding onto his top ten spot for another week.  Rudy was the biggest points scorer this week with 735 points as he moved up to 24th overall and Anthony Zaragoza gained the most spots (45) thanks to 723 total points.

My RCL 33 team slipped a bit this week and fell to second overall because of it.  Wake-N-Rake was right there to take advantage, moving up to 109 league points and taking the top spot.  Vin sent me a fun note this week where he grabbed the top three draft picks of our top ten and I thought I’d share that with you all, along with the number of moves each team has made so far:

Stolen Vortex and Tuck It In just missed my cutoff in the opening paragraph.  Moves help.  Vin took over an abandoned team in RCL 34 and has made a flurry of moves to guide that team into the top five.  This is ridiculously impressive.  Bayou Bombers should get a special callout for being this high in the standings while making less than 50 moves so far.

Looking at the draft.  It’s Ohtani and Acuna leading the way paired with Tatis or Freeman with a side of Olson, Semien, or Arozarena.  Thos who paired Ohtani and Olson are sitting pretty with the AL/NL home run leaders rostered, it’s no wonder those teams are doing so well.  Not much to add here, just thought it was fun to look at.

TRADES

All the trades that have gone down in the past week.  Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

wanderlust traded Luis Robert Jr. & A.J. Puk to EarlThePearl#9 for Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Seven trades were swung this week.  I made two, and don’t worry, I benched Stro in jolly ol’ England.  Both of my trades were trading from a position of too many players (CI and SP) and moving them for needs (SP and HR-hitting OF).

That Aaron Judge news is tough for AllRice.  I would have called Robert and Puk for Vlad a steal a little bit ago, but right now…I think I’d rather have Robert and Puk.  Eesh.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Green Monster Mashers

League: RCL 37

Stats:   AVG: .299, R: 53, HR: 17, RBI: 45, SB: 15

IP: 76, ERA: 2.49, WHIP: 0.934, K: 82, W: 3, SV: 4

Summary: The Green Monster Mashers went monster mode this week, with more than a double slam with double legs per day for the week.  Pair that with some ridiculous ratios and you have yourself a team of the week.  If we want to quibble with this team, what’s with only three wins?  If there’s any further case than dismissing the win as a stat category, this week should be framed.  Sub 2.50 ERA and sub 1 WHIP in 76 IP and only coming away with three wins is a crime.  Especially considering one of those wins came from Jose Berrios who had a 6.3 ERA on the week.  The series in Cincy did wonders for the Monsters as Ozzie Albies, Jake Fraley, and Joey Votto led the offense with plenty of steals from Corbin Carroll.  On the pitching side, it was Bryce Elder, Yusei Kikuchi, and Johan Oviedo who put in work.  The big week gained GMM 10 points in the standings and moved them from seventh to fourth.  Nice work, GMM!
