So, how does everyone like midseason platform updates?  No one has any comments on the new design?  I didn’t imagine so, great, let’s move on… OK, I know we’re not getting out of here without addressing the big, pink, elephant in the room.  The update is kinda crappy.  However, I will say that many of my early quibbles have since been fixed and perform the same as they did pre-update.  Now aside from running the gamut on shades of pink (at least my bench slots are a shade of yellow now) and everything looking a little cartoony/appy, I can make do with what I’ve got.  Change is hard, everyone gets used to a thing a certain way, but I’m guessing in 3 months we’ll forget all about this and we’ll be using this new update the same as we were before.  I still wish they had waited, but I’m sure football rules the world and they would rather force a midseason update on the fantasy baseballers than mess with the fantasy footballers midseason.  Those damn jocks are still screwing over the nerds whenever they can.  Anyway, let’s dive into some actual stats from the week that was, week 10:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

The Great Knoche went bonkers this week and big weeks can still lead to big point gains.  Knoche led the RCLs in Runs and led the Perts league in every category except for stolen bases, strikeouts, and WHIP.  Yup…that’ll do.  The incredible week shot Knoche up 11 points and into second place, still 11.5 points behind Son who is down to 226 claims remaining.  Knoche seemed to be stealing from the poor to give to the rich (sounds like capitalism at play here) as B_Don and Lineup Builder lost the most points this week, losing 5.5 and 4.5, respectively and falling to 10th and 12th.  Oof.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

Ryan Beck remains at number one and Yatta took back the two spot this week as Christian Dopp slipped back to third.  Alan Harrison jumped up to tie Kevin Strutz in fourth and Stephen Eng fell to tenth.  Bruce Cagle was the big winner this week. Gaining 713 points and moving up 57 places to finish the week in 67th overall.

TOP 10

My RCL 33 Squad was able to take the top spot this week due to jumping up to 111.5 league points.  I’ve included the VINDEX this week (not a cleaning product) so you can see where some of these leagues rank.  RCL 33 is a little below average where COUGS is WAY above average.  That’s why a team with 111.5 league points and one with 103 can be within 0.6 RCL PTS (or VIN PTS) of each other.  Speaking of Vin, he has taken an team that was autodrafted and climbed to fourth overall in the standings with it.  Maybe I should have given him my team and I should have taken over the autodraft team. Son sits comfortably in the top ten thanks to his Perts league dominance and RCL 29 has two teams in the top ten, quite a race brewing there.

TRADES

All the trades that have gone down in the past week.  Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

6/11/2023 RCL 25
Boh traded Bryce Harper to Drunc Orks for Framber Valdez

Seven trades this week with some juicy ones, including Mike Trout and Aaron Judge on the move.  I swung a deal sending hot middle infield pick-up, Matt McLain packing for Eury Perez in a league where I tried to get cute and drafted Brandon Woodruff, Kyle Wright, and Grayson Rodriguez to start the year.  Hunter Greene and Zach Eflin were also drafted, so not all has been lost, but I’ve been chasing pitching all year.  In a tale that is older than time, Ruiz was traded for Duran in a classic SAGNOF for SAGNOF swap.  Framber was traded twice and I would love if someone would trade me Framber for a closer in several leagues.  Harper is a much better get than Romano, but of course, it’s totally needs dependant.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: The Great Knoche

League: Perts League

Stats:   AVG: .302, R: 64, HR: 17, RBI: 55, SB: 5

IP: 53, ERA: 3.40, WHIP: 1.208, K: 47, W: 7, SV: 8

Summary: Yes, a 3.40 ERA was the best in the Perts League this week…it was a tough week for pitching for most of us mortals as evidenced by 75 teams with a 5+ ERA this week.  For those like Knoche, who weathered that storm while benefitting from the enormous offensive output, it was a boon of a week.  The hills are alive with the sound of counting stats.  Knoche also managed to somehow come away with seven wins this week…something I barely manage in three weeks it feels like.  Freddie Freeman, Isaac Parades, and Corbin Carroll all led the way with 3 HRs and Carroll chipped in 3 steals as well.  Knoche got Wins and serviceable ratios from every pitcher on his staff with Jordan Romano chipping in three clean saves.  Nice work, Knoche!
