We’re back with the Razzball Baseball Pod – this week’s episode brought to you by Chris Davis‘s brand of Adderall…  On today’s show we talk Asian carnival food delights, crazy power binges at Coors Field, and play another edition of Higher/Lower.  Emphasis on higher!  We also talk some pitchers who could be late-round sleepers in 2016 and how this latest injury to Giancarlo Stanton impacts next year’s first round of fantasy drafts.  September means bring the crazy!  Here’s the latest edition of the Razzball Baseball Podcast:

    I live in Portland, OR – the land of Nike! And I can share with you, thanks to the anonymity afforded by the razzball dot com comment section… Nike pretty much sucks.

    I know dozens of employees (many just neighbors/professional acquaintances) all meet the following criteria:

    – cult-like appreciation of the company;
    – the word “Brand” somehow attached to his/her job title;
    – 100% comfortable wearing sports apparel as daily casual wear;
    – has at least a passing interest in golf;
    – is either kind of an asshole and/or deathly unfunny/uninteresting.

    I’m sure there are exceptions! But it does seem as though the company attracts a certain type. Or 2 types, rather. 1) Those who work there for a while and 2) those that work there for <4 weeks.

    Note to the Nike Brand Protection Media Intern: this is not the opinion of Razzball nor it's advertising agents.

      Yeah, as I said on the pod, I had no intention on staying longer but they offered to transfer me to LA’s Niketown since I was trained and I turned them down flat, there was no way I was working for a company that made me do chants on he morning like I was in Manchurian Candidate…

        HA

        Note: Jobs worked 1-5 years post-college aren’t counted in the Judgmental Ledger.

          Yeah, this was like days out of college for less than a month… I stopped to think about my time at Nike and I remember one thing that sticks out as an example of their lameness. They had these stickers you’d affix to the price tags on the items you helped a customer with. After about three days they discontinued it because people were “abusing the system,” so where the job was, say, $15/hour plus commission, we lost commissions within days, and likely a good $10/hour more… The abusing the system from what I could tell was making too much commissions.

            @Carnac: @Grey: Hahaha, yeah does not sound like a fun company to work for. My only retail experience was Blockbuster in college, hah! It was fun and they gave you free rentals. They wanted you to upsell some stuff, about all the annoyance I had. Nothing too cult-y, except I couldn’t recommend good movies to the general populous, they needed to know where Norbit was (no joke)

                  @Carnac: I do like to take credit for taking the whole company down, but I don’;t have that Sean Parker swagger
