There’s a few things to mention before we get into it this week. The biggest question marks going into Sunday’s action is who will take over open rotation spots for the Athletics, Blue Jays, and White Sox. For our purposes here, who they select really means nothing, because the choices are all distasteful. Do be […]

The past two weeks have delivered some of the biggest fantasy performances of the young season, but digging beneath the surface shows not every breakout is built the same. Guys like Pete Crow-Armstrong have turned heads with a barrage of steals, runs, and even unexpected pop. Meanwhile, health has aided guys like Oneil Cruz flashing the elite raw tools that made him a breakout darling. Early-season explosions are fun, but fantasy managers should be thinking two moves ahead. Is it time to trust these players as foundational pieces, or is the smarter play to sell high while the market is buzzing? In the breakdown ahead, we’ll highlight who’s a hold, who’s a sell, and who deserves a little more skepticism despite the gaudy box scores. It is time for a game of real or deal for this week’s hitter profiles.

It was really frustrating to see Jose Soriano get blown up as my first streamer of the week, but everything improved after that. In fact, we got gems from Andrew Heaney and Max Meyer, with both players looking like must-roster players for the foreseeable future. TJ Friedl and Andrew Benintendi were also solid streamers from […]

1. Red Sox OF Roman Anthony (20, AAA)

Doing typical Roman stuff, conquering his contemporaries, slashing .313/.451/.588 with five home runs, two stolen bases, 21 strikeouts (20.6 percent) and 21 walks in 23 games. Ceddanne Rafaela has tripled his walk rate in the early going and has a 128 wRC+ since April 6. He’s an 80-grade defender in center field, so I don’t think he’s going anywhere, which I suppose surprises nobody who regularly reads this space. It’s gonna be interesting though. Wilyer Abreu can’t stop won’t stop hitting, and Jarren Duran is a core player. Can Rafael Devers play first base yet? Could Triston Casas be in trouble? He hit two homers this week, both of the three-run variety, but that’s all he’s done this week, and last week. Since April 6, he’s slashing .151/.286/.283 but with interesting plate skills: 12.7 percent walk rate and a 17.7 percent strikeout rate. If you’re playing a video game, you probably make that move today: call up Anthony and trade Casas. Rumor mill over the winter said the Red Sox were trying to swing a Casas trade, maybe even before the Bregman signing came through if I remember right. Tricky situation. Good problem to have though, especially in a video game.

Welcome back everyone. Yet another week has passed as the first month of the season has nearly concluded.

At this point of the season, what have we learned?

Well, we’ve learned that pitchers are still dropping like flies and that having position depth on your team is as valuable as ever. Your task is now finding the right replacements for struggling players or those who will be living on the IL for a while.

One of those “right” replacements is Kameron Misner of Tampa Bay. The left-handed hitting center fielder is not my typical dynasty target as he is already 27 and started his professional career in 2019 – AFTER playing in the SEC at Missouri for three years. But sometimes the diamonds in the rough are players who are a little older.

So, let’s jump in and talk a look at Misner, an up-and-coming dynasty player.
