If I was a betting man I would guess Chris Sale was an art major in college. Not only does he have a gift of designing uniforms he has a real craft around the plate. Scouts have labeled him a modern-day Picasso. There are some good options at the pitcher spot today however there is only one elite pitcher going. Sale looks to bounce back from a rough outing against his old team. Despite the 5 earned runs he was tagged for in that outing, he still managed to strike out 9. This is Sale’s 2nd appearance against the Orioles this year and he looks to repeat that outing. Sale already has 8 starts with 10 or more k’s including his last start against the Orioles where he had 11. The Orioles have hit lefties hard this year but they have the 5th highest K percentage against them as well. FantasyDraft is making you pay up for the best arm of the day. Expect Sale’s ownership to be high in the cash games and low in the GPP games given his price tag of $24,800.

Robbie Ray, SP: $22,400 – My little Ray of sunshine where are thou? He’s in Miami, FL that is where he is! This guy has been phenomenal outside of Chase Field. He gets a huge park upgrade and is coming off a complete game shutout earlier this week. There are things to worry about here such as, the Marlins have demolished left handed pitchers this season. This could make Ray a contrarian GPP play since his price tag is so high and he’s playing against the 3rd best offense against lefties.
Jeff Hoffman, SP: $12,400 – Bring out the chalk please. This guy will be owned in just about every format today. Originally I had my Tyler Anderson lede typed up but then the news broke about him heading to the DL. Hoffman’s numbers this season are respectable however we don’t have a huge sample size. His K rate prior to this season suggests his stuff is below average. Hoffman gets the Padres at Petco and is only $12,400. His price tag allows you to pay up for Sale or Ray.
Jose Berrios, SP: $15,600 – What a delight it has been to watch Berrios this season. I know he struggled in his last start but his stuff is way too good. He gets a great matchup against the Trout-less Angels.
Justin Smoak, IF: $8,400 – This guy is locked in right now and I think you need to take advantage of his price tag while you can. The balls are starting to fly out of the Rogers Center with ease. The Jays have no problem hitting righties. Expect the Jays to make up for the goose egg they put up yesterday.
Jose Altuve, IF: $10,400 – Altuve wants to eat today. He gets a great matchup against a division rival Martin Perez. If Altuve is too expensive for you today, you can drop down to Alex Bregman at $8,800.
Starlin Castro IF: $7,600 – Maybe Fantasy Draft feels bad pricing all the Yankees over $8,000 or they forgot to raise Castro’s price. Castro will be matched up against Stroman who does a good job limiting home runs. Despite Castro’s hot start he is not someone who is known for hitting the long ball which makes him a good play today. The Blue Jays are hoping Stroman can give them 7 or 8 innings today because the Yankees have destroyed the pen. If the Yankees can attack Stroman early this game will get out of hand.
Miguel Cabrera, IF: $8,000 – DFSBot sure loves Miggy today and for good reasons. Miggy has been hitting the ball really hard as of late and has been a bit unlucky. He gets a plus matchup against a lefty who does not have much experience in the big leagues. Add the wind that will be blowing out to left field and this is a good matchup for all righties in the Tigers game.
Yan Gomes, IF: $5,600 – This is not a flattering name by any means and I’m not certain he’ll be in the lineup today, however, he has great R v L splits and is dirt cheap. All he needs to do is get a couple of base hits and he will return value.
Brandon Belt, IF: $7,600 – I’m not a huge fan of Belt however he gets a great matchup vs Hellickson today and his price tag is very cheap. Belt is a leading candidate for a home run today especially at Citizens Bank Park.
Hanley Ramirez, IF/OF: $7,800 – You’re going to need a few guys priced under $8k if you’re going to roster Chris Sale today. Hanley went deep yesterday and gets a favorable matchup against a struggling Chris Tillman.
Bryce Harper, OF: $10,500 – Harper is finished serving his whopping 3 game suspension and has spent the time working on his swing. His 3-game hiatus could lower his ownership today. I would not be surprised if this is a double dong day for Bryce.
Justin Upton, IF/OF: $8,000 – Upton here Upton here. Upton has been hitting the ball well lately and looks to continue in a plus matchup against lefty David Holmberg. Upton has 4 RBI’s in his last 3 games and 5 for 9.
Corey Dickerson, OF: $9,600 – The Rays bats have been a huge surprise this season. Dickerson has totally turned things around this season and is looking like the MVP of this team. He hits lefties hard and gets a good matchup vs Ariel Miranda today. The price tag is steep but he should produce
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Hey! Hey! Early morning weather alert. It does not appear that we have any games in jeopardy of being PPD. Let’s keep an eye on the following games as there is a chance of rain and thunder in Pirates vs Mets, White Sox vs Tigers, Indians vs Royals and Astros vs Rangers. The wind should be blowing out to left at 15 mph in the White Sox vs Tigers game.
Doing Lines In Vegas
The heavy favorites in today’s game coming in at -190 favorites is the Red Sox. No surprise there as we have Sale on the bump. The other favorite on the day is Kate Upton…. I mean Justin Verlander as a -188 favorite. Braves vs Reds have the only game with a 10 o/u.
