So here we are in Snape’s cauldron of countless bubbling outfielders–some poisonous if not handled with care–attempting to divine the future of fantasy baseball.

Here’s a link to the top 100 potion so far.

One outcome of doing these rankings is claustrophobia.

Although maybe that’s the corona.

But given the choice of three outfielders, my preference varies based on where my team is in its competitive cycle and how deep the league runs. Maybe that’s intuitive to most readers–the deeper the league, the more valuable the bum–but I’m brainstorming ways to maximize this multiverse of scenarios. In that spirit, please consider these rankings as fodder for fluid conversation and thought.

These guys in the 101-110 group are pushing to move up in the top 200 coming Sunday. If they do so now, they blend in with the on-going project and get lost in the shuffle. All are buys for me, assuming they’re cheap.

I could go on forever in the outfield, I think. Shagging flies was my favorite baseball activity. Might’ve been my favorite life activity this side of shagging shagging. But just as in most pastimes, we can’t go on forever here. Sun’s getting low.

Thanks for reading!

Maybe you can get C.J. Abrams?

Maybe he’d kick in a piece?

I’d ask for Jon Gray and C.J., I think.

The Coors clock is ticking there.

I’d do C.J. with a FYPD pick too

  2. NUX says:

Its a big time “if”, but if Roman Quinn were to be healthy and stick in the lineup for the next year or two, I can easily see him jumping into that Mallex territory of Top 75. I added him in deep-ish dynasty a handful of months ago, at your suggestion. So thank you for that tip! No one is on him anywhere right now except for you.

Loving the lists you’ve been putting out recently, thanks for keeping the foot on the gas. I’m inspired to make a play for Hedbert Perez.

      The Itch says:

      Thanks NUX!!

Agreed: Ifs don’t get much bigger than Quinn’s.

Everything’s bigger in Rome, I guess.

NL only with OBP over AVG, net steals over steals, total bases added, QS over wins, holds added. slow draft coming to an end shortly, 2 more RP to grab.
    C: suzuki
    1B: freeman
    2B: lux
    SS: a.rosario
    3B: mcneil (2B/OF)
    MI: wong (2B)
    CI: votto (1B)
OF (4): harper, pham, mcclutchin’, brocktune
    util (1) grisham (OF)
    BN: camargo (SS/3B/OF)
    NA (1) bohm
SP (will stream the 8th slot after draft when bohm gets slotted): stressbird, urias, musgrove, gausman, cueto, pab lop, lindblom
RP (4): raise the church, watson

options: here i got decent saves amount (was planning to go treinen/lorenzen but they just went, lorenzen esp seemed smart to backup church, but made sure i didn’t have to gamble i got like w.miley instead of lindblom):

    – helsley/brebbia (gotta think helsley has the upside here, and a.miller had some sort of nerve thing he didn’t even know what to make of, doubt that just goes away from time off alone),
    – gott/ (my own SF backup plan)
    – stammen (for some reason the rater thinks he’ll have a lot of holds, but he’s behind both of pom/pagan)
    – j.guerra/rondon (ginkel is gone, but these 2 both listed ahead of him anyway, and new signings)
    – y.garcia (everybody round here presumes this is stanek uber alles but he just got drafted)
    – wick (seems to be just str up 2nd in line at CUBS, albeit rater doesn’t love him),
    – morgan/t.hunter/j.alvarez (rater really doesn’t like these guys, nobody else does either, but somebody is 2nd in line on a good team here, and why is rater still showing sera anthony as if he’s actually playing still anyway)

i know grey has got tons of SF guy shares, but those are i think in saves only leagues. here the handcuffing ain’t bad idea, but i almost certainly don’t want 3/4 of my bullpen to be from one crappy team. 10 teamer here.

    • Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey says:

you might be too new to know WTF a “brocktune” is. it’s g.polanco. maybe 4ish years ago somebody awesome around here had the idea to make us up a nickname for us super nerds that were spazzing out on g.polanco. the idea came from this awesome SNL skit from it’s heyday:

        The Itch says:

Ha! I was wondering about brocktune!!

I like the St Lou plays

        Also Yimi and Wick

Which, that’s gotta be a procedural detective show coming soon

  4. philip says:

You appear to be the low man on Brandon Marsh. I’m curious why. Some have him ranked in the top 40 overall prospects, while most have him in the top 100. Thanks in advance if you can give a response!

      • philip says:

Thanks. So he thinks Marsh won’t hit. It’ll be interesting to watch. I wouldn’t be surprised if Marsh turned out to be the quintessential pain in the a-s Angel and every bit as good as Dylan Carlson.

          The Itch says:

Thanks for the help on that, Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey!

    16 man 6×6 dynasty league.
was offered….Verdugo($9) .. for my Brandon Marsh ($0)…obviously verdugos injury clutters my decision. Marsh should be up this year i think? not sure.

    what do you think?

    • The Itch

      The Itch says:

      I’ll take Vahdugo

    • The Itch

      The Itch says:

The loss of a minor league season would probably get Marsh some big league time because they wouldn’t want a guy like him to stall out.

  6. leon says:

    16 man dynasty 6×6

My Brandon marsh ($0) for his Verdugo ($9). what do you think? thanks.

Hudson Head’s going to make you regret 1445

      The Itch says:

      Could be. I like him.

  8. Chris LaMotta says:

I had a quick question about your Top 100 for 2021.
Why did Xavier Edwards drop so much? I have one pick left in a draft and was going to take him but he dropped from 14 to 41. Am I better off with Brennan Davis or Aaron Bracho?

    • The Itch

      The Itch says:

      I’d take Davis.

Xavier’s fall might be a slight overreaction to the Tampa trade. They’re pretty stocked at his spots unless they move him to centerfield, where they’re also pretty stocked if a little less so.

At the time I was thinking Brujan would take center, but who knows? Could be weapon X.

Another possibility I hadn’t warmed to yet was that Tampa’s just smarter than San Diego when it comes to extracting value. Might be incredible if he finds a little thump, but he doesn’t rotate with explosion right now. I didn’t think he’d have to to secure playing time in San Diego. I’m worried he might have to learn it to play in Tampa.
