Here we are, the last full slate of the season. First off, it’s been a pleasure to represent Razzball on Sunday FanDuel picks, and thank you for taking the time to give these educated dart throws a look. There’s always the chance a player will sit out or a pitcher will only go a couple of innings on the final day and I’m trying to avoid any questionable plays. SP Chris Sale $9800 will look to lead the Sox in a must-win game and shouldn’t be holding anything back against the Nationals. Sale has put up solid numbers in his eight appearances, pitching to the tune of a 2.90 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. As for hitting, feel free to plug in just about any Toronto bat that is starting today against Baltimore.

Yes, I’m a Baz-leiver, and I couldn’t leave him if I tried. OK, I’m dating myself with a reference to a Monkey’s song but this guy IS the real deal. SP Shane Baz, $6900, gets the Marlins at home and this is TOO good to pass on.  While taking on a fearsome Toronto lineup in his first-ever MLB start, Baz captured the win and struck out five and walked none over five innings, with the only base runners he allowed on the night coming on a pair of solo home runs.

I usually like to pounce on the weakest SP’s and start filling in my hitters but today there’s actually several solid pitchers that had me going up and down the list trying to find a weak SP to feast upon.  SP Eric Lauer $8800 is NOT one of those and gets the Cubs at home.  He’s 2-0 with a 0.93 ERA over 19.1 frames in his last three outings and the Cubs are losers of 4 straight.

It may be the opening Sunday of the NFL but it’s no time to be slacking on our MLB FanDuel chances to cash in.  Red Sox v. White Sox should be giving us action today, a nice breeze out to left and two SP coming off the DL equals production, especially from the White Sox side. SP Max Fried $9300 has the best matchup at home today vs the Marlins and in his last 5 games Fried has 33 innings with 30 K, 5 walks, and a 1.91 ERA

Ranger Suarez $6800 built up to 86 pitches Wednesday, so he could handle a more traditional starter’s workload moving forward.  Predicted total of 26.8 pts today, You should expect a solid effort against Arizona and get a W. I think he gets over 30 ! If you want a high dollar SP then Tyler Mahle @ $9600 against the Fish, might be more your style. With our hiters, try to find a way to roster Cubs/WSox sticks and let the wind be our friend.

When I first glanced at today’s slate I went straight to the Red Sox to start cherry-picking. Then I checked the weather and with a 22 mph wind blowing in and a good chance of rain, tossed that plan out the window. Now it has been postponed. But before we go any further let’s talk about pitching options. Vladimir Gutierrez, $8700  going against the Marlins is my #1 choice. In his last 5 games, 31.7 innings with 28k’s and 1.99 ERA, 1.17 WHIP.  Let’s get into the rest of the day’s plays.

On the pitching side, Sean Manaea, $9600 going up against the 2-10  pitching machine (Allard) Texas is offering up just feels right! Manaea has been either really good or really bad in his last four outings but with 143 K’s and a 3.43 ERA in 128 innings, he’s been solid for the most part.  There are 10 games on the slate so there’s a lot of value if you’re the risk-taking type.

Hitters, let’s focus on players with a solid hit tool, plus matchups and try to strike against bad pitchers. With an over/under of 10.5 the Balt/Boston game tops the list along with a sneaky Cards/Royals game at 10. Braves, Brewers, and A’s players should all be in play.

Time to get under the hood and locate where today’s action is. With the Cincinnati Reds looking like The Big Red Machine of old lately, it’s time to ride the machine. We also can’t ignore the possibilities in Baltimore/Toronto, we’ll dive into all the hitting plays after the jump, but let’s kick things off with SP Max Fried at $8,000.  With at least 5 innings in each of his past 10 appearances dating back to June 6th and facing the newly horrendous, Washington Nationals, Fried will definitely be worth a shot today and is a great place to start building your lineups.
