We are merely eight games into the 2023 season and have learned a lot about what we can expect this season.  For starters, that lack of steals we have seen in past seasons is long gone with the rule changes going forward.  This means that players that derive value from speed will have more than ample opportunity to contribute.  We are also reminded that injuries are a reality of our game that will drive any fantasy manager crazy as we see players like Jose Altuve and Michael Harris tumble down the rankings.  Finally, we are rewarded for our eternal hope in the prospecting of our fantasy teams through players like Jordan Walker and Corbin Carroll.  If the first week of the fantasy season has told us anything, it is that we are in for a fun ride and with that a lot of opportunity for the savvy fantasy owner.  Time to break down the top 100 hitters for the rest of the 2023 fantasy baseball season.

If you are a reader here at Razzball, you are likely in a number of leagues ranging from season-long to best ball or dynasty.  In the name of the game, we must be thinking about the value of diversification.  For the investment mindset of a fantasy owner, owning a wide range of players can lower your risk by weathering the ups and downs of the season.  That said, even the smartest fantasy writers do not always follow the principles of diversifying their portfolio.  With that premise, every draft season I find myself over indexed to certain players.  This week, our hitter profiles break down guys that sit on too many of my rosters and why I kept investing.

Over the past three weeks we have been working through the Top 25 (link), Top 50 (link) and Top 75 (link).  This week, we unveil the full list and fix all the mistakes of the past few weeks otherwise known as updating for any injury, job update or breakout during spring training.  This season, our Top 100 Hitters will be posted every other week and focus on what remains of the season.  That means, that while somebody like Lars Nootbar will inevitably start the season hot, that does not make him a top hitter on our list.  Alternatively, guys like Bryce Harper and Trevor Story are going to be creeping up the list as their returns draw near.  Without further ado, the final preseason installment has arrived in our Top 100 hitters for the 2023 fantasy baseball season.

Welcome back to week three of unveiling the top 100 Hitters for the 2023 fantasy baseball season.  Over the past few weeks, we have walked through the top 25 (check it here) and then rounded out the top 50 (another link) bringing us to this week.  We are now entering the back half of the top 100 hitters for 2023.  This portion is where the rankings start to bunch up and hitter #51 is much closer to hitter #75 than #1 is to #2.  Maybe that is stating the obvious but it is key for how we handle this portion of the draft.  With this group of hitters, we start to think about need, team makeup, and shortfalls in our categories to ensure we have a well balanced team rather than trying to win a single roto category by lapping the field.  We all know the guy that drafts only steals or seven closers, so do not be that person!  With the formalities out of the way, let us get on with the rankings.

Last week, we walked through my initial top 25 as we began to count down, or rather count up our top 100 hitters for the 2023 fantasy baseball season.  While the top 25 was a star studded group on which fantasy dreams are born, the next 25 contain breakout potential and a number of reliable veterans.  Once we get past this group, the questions start to grow and the debate will certainly spark.  Without further ado, let us jump into our continuing view of the top 100 hitters for the 2023 fantasy baseball season with spots 26 through 50!

Welcome to the initial unveiling of our top 100 hitters for the 2023 fantasy baseball season.  As spring training kicks off, we will learn more about the young prospects that might make an impact like Jordan Walker or an injury to an everyday regular like Gavin Lux that toss our rankings out the door.  However, that is the reality of our fantasy baseball drafts as values will inevitably change.  As with any rankings, I always recommend balancing the rankings you like with your own league settings to make adjustments.  At the end of the day, I hope these give you some insight and stoke a great conversation.  With that preamble complete, welcome to the first edition of 2023’s Top 100 Hitter rankings starting with the top 25!

The rules, they are a changing. This 2023 season brings with it a whole new set of changes for players to navigate and fantasy managers to predict. Maybe it is pickoff limits and larger bases leading to more stolen bases. Maybe the pitch clock will reward pitchers that like to play mind games. However, this week we will spend some time looking at players that have the most to gain front the elimination of the shift. Teams will adapt and find ways to flex the rules (looking at you Tampa Bay) and gain a slight advantage. Will you?

This week in our hitter profiles we are talking breakouts. So what is the difference between a breakout and what we have already covered in our sleeper posts (v1.0 here and v2.0 here)? Well, a breakout is like putting bacon on pizza. We already know that pizza is good, but that additional topping just made it one of the best. Whereas a sleeper is like realizing your nerdy classmate is now the CEO at a tech company. It makes so much sense now, but we missed the signs before it happened. Now that we have our painfully mandatory analogies out of the way, let us jump into a few of my favorite breakouts for the 2023 fantasy baseball season.

There is something about buying used.  Whether it is that pleather couch or your 90’s hatchback, you cannot go wrong.  In our fantasy baseball world, this simply means passing up the young shiny objects and buying those old rusty veterans.  Sure, we sometimes are fighting Father Time, but at least we know our lineup can drive stick shift.  This week we dig into those draft day values that might sneak through the cracks and be waiting around for the savy owner.  Let us dig into this week’s 2023 fantasy baseball hitter profiles!

The last few weeks our hitter profiles have focused on some deep sleepers to add to your late round draft board.  This week we are going to buck that trend and take a peak at some big names that come with an even bigger price tag.  Too often factors like youth, upside, discovery bias and more come together and deceive our draft capital.  Yes, this is the article where we say Lars Nootbar is going to bust, Michael Harris II is too expensive and Bobby Witt Jr. will see the sophomore slump.  Some may say this is blasphemy, but it might just be the perspective you need.

Welcome back to our 2023 hitter profiles focusing on sleepers that might just be the late round lottery tickets you need.  This is where you find your Tayor Ward and Rowdy Tellez wannabes.  Last week (drop in here if you missed it) we focused on a number outfielders that can be found late in the draft.  This week we shift our focus to the infield to see what gems might be available.  Jump on in to our second week of hitters profiles with Sleepers 2.0 for the 2023 fantasy baseball season!

Welcome back to the first Hitter Profiles of the 2023 fantasy baseball season!  This offseason has included a lot of big contracts, changing landscapes and dreams of what next season will bring.  Here at Razzball, we have all passed our physicals thanks to a routine of finger curls and rigorous stretching.  Unfortunately, I did hear that Grey had to attend his physical a few times due to a paper cut from 2013.  With those formalities behind us, it is time to look ahead to what draft season will bring.  This week we kick off with a look at some of my favorite sleepers for the 2023 fantasy baseball season and what they could bring for pennies on the dollar at the draft table.  Welcome back folks and let us dig into the outfield class during our Sleepers 1.0.
