Atlanta Braves Top 10 Prospects For 2027 Fantasy Baseball

1. OF Eric Hartman | 20 | AA | 2028

A 2024 20th-round pick as a high-school draftee out of Alberta, Canada, Hartman was the talk of the prospect universe early this summer as a 19-year-old laying waste to High-A pitching. Things haven’t gone as well since his promotion to Double-A, where he’s slashing .217/.336/.321 with two home runs and 34 strikeouts (27.2 percent) through 27 games. It’s still good for a newly minted 20-year-old, honestly, but it speaks to some hit-tool concerns that will linger perhaps even if/when Hartman has some success at the major league level. Everything else about the 6’1” 185 pound lefty bat is pretty exciting. He’s stolen 52 bases in 61 attempts and hit 26 home runs in 121 games across two levels.

2. LHP Cam Caminiti | 20 | AA | 2027 

The 24th overall pick in the 2024 draft, Caminiti cruised through the lower minors thanks to his premium velocity and plus slider. At 6’2” 195 pounds, he might even have a little extra velocity in his frame considering he just turned 20 on August 8th. Not that he needs to throw any harder to succeed. He’s got a 2.13 ERA through five Double-A starts, a promotion he forced by striking out 14 High-A Rangers in 6.2 innings on July 31. I don’t come across a lot of “safe” teenage pitching prospects in this gig, but I’d have put Cam in that crew before his birthday.

3. Tate Southisene | 19 | AA | 2028

The 22nd overall pick in 2025, Southisene has the skills to stick at shortstop or kick out to center field if that’s where he’s needed. Or to second base. Or third, if given the time to settle in there. A right-handed hitter at 5’11” 180 pounds, Southisene could push 30/30 in his prime. He’ll turn 20 on October 6 and has 12 home runs and 45 stolen bases in 90 games across three levels this season.

4. OF AJ Gracia | 21 | NCAA | 2028

The ninth overall pick this year out of Virginia by way of Duke, Gracia popped 43 home runs with more walks (152) than strikeouts (129) in 176 college games and slashed .354/.489/.632 in his junior season. A left-handed hitter at 6’3” 195 pounds, Gracia has a quick swing with fast hands and power to all fields that allows him to take an extra beat before deciding whether or not to fire off his A swing. That he didn’t debut this season might suppress his FYPD stock enough to create a buying window.

5. SS Alex Lodise | 22 | AA | 2028

Here’s what I wrote about this guy on August 23 in Prospect News: To Lodise Looking For Gold or Gleed Is Good:

“Braves SS Alex Lodise (22, AA) earned a promotion to Double-A via going scorched-earth on High-A pitching, slashing .404/.473/.745 with four home runs and a 7.3 percent strikeout rate in his last 11 games at the level. A second-round pick out of Florida State in 2025, he’s already got a homer and a steal in three games at the new level. The scouting report has typically read “Good defender, good power and speed, questionable hit tool,” so if Lodise can keep making contact like this, he won’t be stuck at any minor league level for too long.”

It’s just a couple weeks later, and Lodise has hit .359 with mostly singles since this article. Might not garner a whole lot of echo-chamber attention, but he’s a solid prospect on a big-league trajectory. 

6. SS John Gil | 20 | AA | 2027

Gil is thriving in Double-A, slashing .313/.395/.429 with two home runs and 12 stolen bases through 28 games at the level. He’s always played against older guys because he’s so good at defense and can control the zone, but one of these years, his physicality is going to catch up to his baseball skill and launch him up the prospect lists.

7. LHP Briggs McKenzie | 19 | A+ | 2028

A 4th-round pick (who signed for $3 million!) out of North Carolina in 2025, McKenzie bloomed early this season, pitching his way to High-A with dominant performances on the complex and a five-inning gem with eight strikeouts in Low-A. That’s all Atlanta needed to see to push McKenzie to Rome, where he’s encountered his first resistance as a professional. I don’t much care about his 4.66 ERA through three starts at the level though. I can focus on the 14 strikeouts and evolving stuff from a 6’2” 190 pound lefty.

8. RHP Jensen Hirschkorn | 18 | NA | 2030 

Jensen Hirschkorn and we should probably care. The six-foot-seven righty sits in the mid-90’s with apparent ease and signed for $4 million dollars despite being a 3rd-round pick by the Braves in 2025. There’s every chance his heater and plus slider will allow him to speed through the minors once he gets going.

9. OF Luis Guanipa | 20 | A+ | 2029 

The game hasn’t always come easily to Guanipa as a professional, but he’s climbed the ladder steadily after signing for $2.5 million in 2023 and finds himself in High-A a few months before he turns 21 on December 15th. Listed at 5’11” 188 pounds, Guanipa is a double-plus runner with a chance to help in all five standard rotisserie categories if everything breaks right for him.

10. OF Isaiah Drake | 20 | A+ | 2028

Drake’s blend of speed and power continued to develop in 2026, when the six-foot, 180-pound lefty posted the best slugging percentage (.443) of his young professional career. A 5th-round pick out of an Atlanta high school in 2023, Drake is emblematic of this organization’s sustained success in scouting the hell out of their area and investing in their young draft picks. .
