SAGNOF Bullpen Report Week 25: Rico’s Suave Again

Alrighty, folks, reckon this is probably the last one of the season. Head-to-head leagues are mostly in the championship matchups now, and roto leagues are more or less decided at this stage. My RCL certainly is…that league has been decided since about late May. Hasn’t been close at all. I’ll finish 7th or 8th probably. Woof.

Rico Garcia fired off 3 SV this week and had a solid 3:1 K:BB in 3.2 scoreless. Still available in almost half of Fantrax leagues, so he might be there for you if you’re still alive and are in need of SV or SVHD at this juncture. Dating back two weeks, he’s got a perfect 0.00 ERA and 1.06 WHIP.

Ryan Watson had 4 SVHD (1 SV, 3 HLD) this past week. Pretty ding dang rare to see a 4-SVHD week, especially from a nobody like this guy (no offense to Ryan Watson and his fans). Hasn’t given up a run in eight straight outings, only allowing a total of four baserunners that entire time. It would probably be just your luck to add him and he puts up a goose egg for you, but it’s my job to point out these kinds of folks. Almost nobody is rostering him. Probably because his season numbers are pretty mid.

Mason Montgomery once again collected 3 SV this past week, striking out 3 and walking none. Only one hit allowed over three scoreless. Said before but bears repeating: don’t forget Mason Montgomery come draft day in the spring. Something’s clicked, and he’s one of the best in the game right now: 62.2 IP, 6-3, 13 SV, 9 HLD, 41 H, 19 ER, 95:23 K:BB. Grody filthy nasty.

Kodai Senga hasn’t been super busy, but I’ll shout him out for an 8:1 K:BB over the last couple weeks. Bummer that his last outing was a blown save thanks to a solo homer. Only rostered in 63% of Fantrax leagues, though.

Erik Tolman picked up 2 SV for the Nats this week. Also scored a win. In the final days of Washington’s season, they seem to be letting this 14th-round 27-yr-old rookie show what he’s got. Overall, been pretty impressive with a 2.38 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and .205 BAA.

Calvin Faucher had 2 HLD this week. That’s not nothin’, I guess. Shouted him out last week as a saves option and here he goes collecting holds instead. Yay. Michael Petersen also had 2 HLD and a very sexy 7:1 K:BB.

Bryan Hudson still doing some pretty solid work for the Chi Sox. Had 1 SV and 1 HLD this week. Teammate Hagen Smith, the finest arm ever to represent the Razorbacks, has been money as a big leaguer. The SVHD likely won’t be there, but he’s genuinely rosterable for K upside. Striking out almost 40% of batters with top tier elite swing-and-miss stuff. Here’s his total K per outing, going back to Aug. 20 (starting with last night): 2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 3, 2, 1, 3, 3. Sadly, he did take a loss last night. Walked a pair, which were his first walks after five straight without any. Extra big bummer since this loss, to Cleveland, now means the Guardians lead the AL Central.

I know it’s because not every league counts holds, but it’s still strange to me see Brent Headrick with “Ros. 52%” next to his name. Dude added three more holds to his breakout 2026 campaign, giving him 29 on the year. Also has 7 W and 94 K. That’s, like, unreal overall value right there, folks. Never in a million years would I have thought that Brent Headrick would challenge for 30 SVHD and 100 K.

I’ll end with Trent Harris. Some dude on the Giants who’s getting high-leverage looks in the latter stages. Didn’t have any decisions this week cuz, well, the Giants are the Giants, and they’re coached by a college coach, but I digress! Just under 32% K-rate in the first 19.1 IP of his career. Edit: Harris did in fact score a HLD last night, striking out a pair and walking none in 1.1 scoreless.
