Playing DFS is like a puzzle right, trying to find the pieces to make it work and fit just perfectly. I was doing a puzzle with my daughter the other day and I was like this is a similar feeling that I get when I’m doing my lineups sifting through all this information to make lineups and get them to fit just right is like sifting through a big ole puzzle box to find the right pieces. Writing on Mondays it’s always a crapshoot on how many teams play and today we have the fewest number of teams playing on a Monday this season with 4 games on the main slate. It’s the hand we are dealt with so let’s get into it. The interesting part of the slate to me is we have four pitchers that will garner attention across the board from everybody making lineups today which is good that we have some variation in such a small slate today. 3 of the pitchers — Peralta, Musgrove, and Tallion — are all pitching very well as of late and Giolito plays for a team that can put up a huge number of runs today, and although inconsistent this season he can put up a 50 for you with no problem against the Twins. I think I’m going with the guy who I think will be the lowest if not the 2nd lowest owned pitcher and the one you will have to wait to see until the last game of the night which is fine with me and that’s Joe Musgrove ($9,000). I think he is pitching the best out of the four right now and although Freddy is also pitching well I’ll take the $1,200 savings and use it to make my lineup a lot stronger hitting-wise. Both have great matchups against their opponents with Peralta facing the Cubs and Musgrove against the Marlins. Musgrove is at home while Peralta is away and I just think DFS players on the east coast especially would rather stay up and watch their pitcher so Musgrove might be a little under-owned which gives me an edge today. I’ll take any edge I can get today on this slate.

SP- Freddy Peralta ($10,200 ) I don’t blame you if you want to play Freddy he’s been outstanding this season. Some things that made me pause on playing him over Musgrove was this will be the 5th time this season the Cubs have seen Freddy and he’s had a pretty soft schedule pitching against the Pirates (4 Times) as well. Now don’t get me wrong I love Freddy as much as the next degen and I think he goes out and does his thing tonight for you but when you are talking about getting a tiny edge anywhere you can, I’m going with the lower owned player and one I see having an easier lineup to navigate through.
C/1B– Omar Narvaez- ($3,100) Hit one out yesterday against Cueto and faces another righty today in Alec Mills. Batting .300 with a .474 SLG and .858 OPS with 9 out of his 10 HR and 31 of his 34 RBI coming against righties he could be a forgotten play today which is good for you and me.
2B- Jake Cronenworth ($3,700 ) Heating back up after a subpar July, Jake already has two multi-hit games in August as well as a HR yesterday. I think he continues to rake today against the Marlins and Zach Thompson.
3B- Eduardo Escobar ($3,700 ) Another player who is off to a great start in August. He has been clobbering the ball of late rewarding fantasy managers who looked past last season and got him in the late rounds for a steal this season. Alec Mills can be frustrating to stack against but the risk is worth the reward IMO today.
SS- Tim Anderson ($3,400) Does so many things well it’s hard to keep him out of your lineup especially against Beau Burrows and the Twins. Burrows is probably the opener and looks like Charlie Barnes will be primary. I don’t think it will matter for Anderson who will probably get 5 at-bats minimum today and provide a very high floor for you in points.
OF- Adam Frazier ($2,800) Scorching at the plate in August already has two 3 hit games. Hits at top of a very potent lineup in SD even without Tatis. Very good numbers against righties which Thompson is.
OF- Andrew Vaughn ($2,600) Nice affordable price for Vaughn who hits right in the middle of a stacked White Sox lineup. 2 HR in the last 5 games and hits against a Twins bullpen today. I like his chances here for another one.
OF- Whit Merrifield ($3,100) Such a good hitter and can steal you bases like clockwork which is hard to come by. I think the Royals can give Tallion some trouble today and Whit will be in the middle of that stealing and scoring today.
UTIL-Jose Abreu ($3,600) Jose fits perfectly as that last puzzle piece in our lineup today. Riding a sweet 6 game hitting streak as well as 3 HR in August. The steady veteran finds himself in a nice cozy spot today and will no doubt continue that streak.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Looks like Mil VS CHI has a chance of being postponed or at least delayed due to T-Storms at game time. Will be windy regardless, with the wind blowing out to CF.
