That’s a Shame (Bold Predictions) is the new overall leader after gaining in the standings for the sixth consecutive week, dropping the mauledbypandas team (Josh Hamilton’s Fake Stache) down to second. Both teams drafted Miguel Cabrera with the number 1 pick back in March. That’s a Shame followed Miggy with Adam Jones and Jay Bruce, and grabbed Adam Wainwright in the fifth round for their first pitcher. Everth Cabrera in the 19th has given great value, hitting .299 with 31 runs, 24 RBI, and 28 stolen bases. TAS was close to taking top team honors for the third time this season with fine hitting (.299/41 Runs/13 HR/44 RBI/12 SB) and pitching (7 Wins/60 K/2.49/1.17/8 Saves) numbers. Check out the new and improved Master Standings (you can also access them via the Leagues menu up top) to see where your team ranks in comparison to the other 767 teams through Sunday. The page now includes sortable stats.

Movers and Shakers: Belligerent Mariners Fan (Go Big or Go Home) moved up 214 spots this week, and have now jumped from 760th to 373rd since May 6th. The 2011 Razzball Commenter League champion, Random ItalicizedVoice (Cracking The WHIP) moved into the Top 100, gaining 106 positions to 79th.
Free Agents: Gerrit Cole and Anthony Rendon were big adds this week. Cole is now available in just 1 league, while Rendon is unowned in 8 RCLs. Michael Pineda’s ownership has crept up to 22% as he could return by the end of June.
League News: The ECFBL has joined Cougars Welcomed at the top with a League Competitive Index of 105. Both are in the Top 10 in 7 categories, but the ECFBL lead 6 while Cougars Welcomed just lead in Wins. Also, the ECFBL has several teams well below the Games Started limit, so they could be poised to make gains in pitching categories. And, their fantasy legend, Chris (Retro Vertigo), reached the top 10 this week. Each of these top leagues have 2 teams in the top 100. Ones are GOOD right? leads with four top 100 teams.
Team News: With the season just about one-third complete, teams are on pace to smash RCL hitting records. The Saskatchewan Grizzlies (Razzball League) are representing my home province much better than I am, sitting in first place (and top 10 overall) and leading all teams with 140 home runs, chasing the record of 342 set in 2011 by Lazy Sunday (Go Big or Go Home). Lazy Sunday also holds the RBI record (1147), but Baseball Cougar (Night of the Living Zombinos) already has 491 this season. The story is the same in Runs and Steals. Royce!’s San Diego Chippers (RCL 33) scored 1219 runs last year; Toronto Slacker (Razzballed) looks to make a run at that total with 481 currently. The Spankers’ (Cracking The Whip) record of 249 stolen bases doesn’t look safe either, with Tainted Chode (Household Appliances) counting 103 thus far in 2013. And, there are many teams in each category on pace to break records. Will 2013 be a record-breaking year? While the numbers will probably even out over the rest of the season, it seems likely some new offensive standards will be set.
EXPERTS: Mike Podhorzer (RotoGraphs) held off Rudy for another week, though the gap is just 1 point now. Mike led the league with 47 runs, 14 home runs, and 53 RBI, and also had a fine 3.05 ERA with 4 wins and 5 saves. Scott Pianowski gained back some of the points he dropped the last few weeks, recording 5 wins and 6 saves with a 2.45 ERA and WHIP under 1. His team also hit .313 and picked up 15 stolen bases. Grey lost points for the first time in 5 weeks, but still holds down 5th place. He had a nice RBI total of 52, but hit only .248 and had an ERA of 4.74. You can find all Expert League unofficial Week 10 stats here.
Writers: Andrew Nordmeier stretched his lead to 14 points over Slim Smitty. Tehol gave back 6 of the 9-and-a-half points he gained last week and fell to third place. His team did hit 16 home runs, but with a .238 average, 5.29 ERA, and 1.43 WHIP, it probably felt like he was being hailed…on. Sky gained 4.5 points, tallying 46 runs and 45 RBI. He also had some nice pitching ratios — 1.94/1.15. Nick, JB, and Joe Morris all had WHIPs under 1. Check out all the writers’ week 10 stats. The Razzball Elite also completed their 6th trade as Sky sent Jonathan Papelbon and Jordan Zimmermann to Trevor Gallo for Paul Goldschmidt.
Trades: 19 more trades this week brings the total to 204 for the year. In the quest for saves, Ben Zobrist was traded for Mariano Rivera, Carlos Beltran for Addison Reed, and R.A. Dickey for Jonathan Papelbon. Domonic Brown was packaged in three deals. He was dealt with Desmond Jennings for Ryan Braun and Wil Myers in Original Recipe. Mark Teixeira and Bryce Harper were acquired for Brown and Dexter Fowler in Cougars Welcomed. Brown and Francisco Rodriguez were traded for Kevin Gregg and Josh Reddick in Bang Bang Boom. You can check out all the trades in the Fantasy Baseball Forums. Look for the RCL under the heading “Everything Else.” Also, be sure to check the player rater for “Rest of Season” projections when you’re considering a trade.
