Spring is here. I hope everyone had a good Easter and Passover. Chasing steals is much like the loved/hated holiday mascot, Peeps. You don’t want to eat them as much as they’re part of the experience. Make the most of it, just don’t go overboard or they expand in your stomach/roster and make you feel bloated…

  • Trevor Story basically opened Francisco Mejia’s wallet and emptied it last week, stealing three bases in one game. Much of that blame falls on rookie pitcher Nick Margevicius as even Mark Reynolds swiped a bag that game. It’s still concerning to see the CS% for a catcher with a 70-grade arm continue to dip as the competition gets better. It may be worth targeting the Margevicius/Mejia combo Tuesday vs. Seattle.
  • Injuries have plagued the Phillies and Roman Quinn’s playing time has benefitted. He’s flexibility at both middle infield spots and centerfield makes him an everyday player with Philadelphia losing guys at all of those positions. Quinn’s main offensive tool is his speed.
  • Grey gave you the full rundown on Cole Tucker and his Dreamy Speed. The Pirates have had a challenging time filling every infiled spot at points. Tucker is definitely worth a look.
  • What can’t Cody Bellinger do? He’s added four steals to his eleven homers. If you wanted to offer the farm for him I wouldn’t blame you.
  • Fernando Tatis, Jr. also logged a three-steal game last week. It’s encouraging to see both parts of his game show up early for a stud prospect that profiled for 25/25 ability.
  • Hector Neris grabbed a save for the Phillies over the weekend. That’s become almost a regular thing. I still wouldn’t drop Seranthony Dominguez since we know Gabe Kapler loves a good tinker.

Below are the catchers yielding the most stolen bases.
