Three weeks in and I’m sure there’s some of you out there pressing as much as Jose Abreu right now.  Is it too soon to be worried that you’re falling behind in stolen bases?  Probably not, unless of course you lost Starling Marte for 80 games.  What a bummer.  You can’t hold a guy on the bench for half the season, can you?  I’ve seen him dropped in several leagues and picked right back up.  I don’t think I’d have the stomach to waste a roster spot for 3 months, but to each their own.  After next week we’ll be at a good point to stop and assess our teams as well as start scouring for trades to address whatever weaknesses we find.  It’s still early folks and there’s no reason to be dropping a guy like Jose Abreu or doing anything else crazy just yet.

A big thank you to Rudy and Malamoney this week as we now have Master Standings!  Who’s numero uno?  You’ll have to read on to see.  We also now have data that helps me put together the weekly leaders and the Team Of The Week!  I’m giddy, are you?  If so, let’s go check out the goods:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

JB was the big…nay…GIANT winner this week.  JB jumped up nine spots in the standings from 10th all the way to first!  JB only had 54 standings points at this time last week.  He added a whopping 22 points to take the lead.  JB led the ‘Perts league in HRs, SBs, and WHIP while finishing second for the week in ERA.  Not too shabby.  It’s not too late to make big jumps like this.  Cram It made a decent jump of his own adding 16.5 points this week to move from 9th to 4th.  Only seven points separates 7th from 1st so being anywhere in this mix means you have a chance at the top spot.  Rudy was the biggest loser this week as he let 17 points slip from his total and fell from the catbird seat to 5th place.

In our first official top 10 Team Sullivan loses their grip on the top spot as the Pancake Riots take over.  Team Sullivan is still tied for the top spot with the most league points.  However, with LCI now in the mix, it’s the Pancake Riots at number one.  The Riots mixed two non-Grey picks (Kershaw/Pollock) with two very-Grey picks (Freeman/Story) in the first four rounds along with some Souza-phone action for the top spot overall.

Closers are flying all over the place this week.  I made a trade with our friendly Vegan commenter, trading an excess of 2B talent for some save help.  Expect Cano to now hit 17 HRs in 7 games.

I know Brandon Phillips is pretty hot right now, but for Todd Frazier seems a bit odd.

I wonder if the Hairy Manbuns instantly regrets trading Thames?

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Calgary Cannons

League: My Nightly Fantasy Standings

Stats:   H/AB: 101/312, AVG: .323, R: 44, HR: 14, RBI: 60, SB: 7

IP: 114.1, ERA: 4.01, WHIP: 1.18, K: 103, W: 6, SV: 6

Summary: This is a familiar name among us RCLers.  The Calgary Cannons made many an appearance on the weekly leaderboards last year for their extreme streaming.  The Cannons will regularly toss up over 100 IP and shared records last year for most wins and most saves in a week.  It’s not just spamming stats with pitchers though as you can see from the .323 batting average this week.  Remember the name, this won’t be the last time you see it.
