NOTE: 2/24 – We have 2 leagues full and e-mails go out for League 3 tomorrow. We are getting close to having enough for 4 leagues so there’s still time if you are interested!

Time to sign up for those of you interested in competing against some Razzball writers (including Grey who won his league last year and myself – I won my league in 2016 and 3rd in 2017) in the NFBC $150 Draft Champions format. It is a 15 team mixed, 5×5 format with 50 rounds (done via a slow draft that takes about 2 weeks). NFBC’s moved to a new site that looks great and they have cut the clock between picks from 8 hours to 4 hours (except overnight).

For those unfamiliar, the major quirk vs most league formats is that there are no trades OR free agent pickups. You can update your starting hitters twice a week (Friday and Monday) and pitchers once a week (Monday). I love this format as a complement to standard formats as it rewards drafters who can find breakout candidates/bargains on draft day. Here is a link to the full rules.

Once we have enough people to fill a league, NFBC will create the league. We’ll try to start the leagues around the first week of March. I recommend creating an account at NFBC if you do not have one as that will expedite everything.

NOTE:  THIS IS SEPARATE FROM THE RAZZBALL COMMENTER LEAGUE.  THAT IS A 12-TEAM MIXED FORMAT WITH DAILY ROSTER CHANGES AND YOU CAN PLAY IN FREE, $10, OR $20 LEAGUES. SIGN UP HERE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.

Signed up. I’ll donate again. Both My favorite and least favorite draft every year!

Were we in the same league last year? If so, get back in mine!

@Grey: no. Was with JB and Son. Sorry, I don’t setup the leagues, maybe you should discuss that with yourself and Rudy.

My team was straight garbage last year.

So of course I’m coming back!

@The Big Yabu: Haha, I’ll second that. I’m back for more fun/torture as well. I was in Grey’s league last year and was the lucky guy who finally drafted Matt Harvey. He waaaaaaas not good.

        Wait, Harvey? Not good? C’mon!

@Pat: I think I finished behind a team that was abandoned in May.
Being on that team must be why Colby Rasmus walked away from MLB. And the saddest part is, I needed him for my starting lineup some weeks!

One day, when I make more money than I do now, I’ll be in on this.

Looking forward to another year. I’m trying a new strategy this year, only drafting Latin players!

Rudy, does your point share value for Rizzo change much if you give him 2B eligibility in Yahoo?

Grey/Rudy — I signed in yesterday. Was in Grey’s league last year and we were tied in 5th place with about 2+ months left — then I watched him sprint away. Would like some payback this year.

BTW – the G Knoche initial comment is right on, and glad it is cut back to 4 hours this year.

      That should be Gigorilla

I think I signed up as wanting to play. When do I found out if I made it into this Shiz?

Looking forward to this one. Last year my squad (Piglington McGee) blasted out of the gates and I thought I might beat the almighty Grey. Don’t worry I won’t take long on the first pick again this year! I got so much shit for that! Annnnyway….I’d love another chance at this league…thx!

Any word on leagues 3/4? How are leagues 1/2 progressing? There are some unhappy DC drafters over on the NFBC forums venting about timeouts. Are you going with 4 hour or 2 hour clock for these Razzball DCs? Any chance of doing them as Express?

      @Chris:

      Hey Chris.

I can’t speak for the other leagues, but league 1 started at 1:00 PM eastern on the 28th and were in the middle of round 17.

Not exactly fast, but also not terribly slow.
