0Jake Peavy is due back in less than a week unless he has a setback. That ‘unless’ eats deep fried butter with a side of blooming onion, needs a crane to go to the bathroom and a mop to clean its inner thighs. I’ll admit Peavy makes me smize, as Tyra would say. I smized more when he was in Petco, but he’s pitched well in his rehab. Does he deserve another chance? Sure, why not? What, he kicked your puppy’s nads? Now if anyone tells you what you can expect of him this year other than three more DL stints, they’re lying, those no good liars. You take the flyer on him if he’s on your waivers just hoping he stays healthy and produces. The rest is icing. …Actually, I’m using the rest is icing cliche wrong. If he stays healthy and produces, that is the icing. Can you tell I wrote this when I was hungry? Mmm…Deep fried butter. Anyway, here’s some players to buy or sell this week in fantasy baseball:

Vicente Padilla – I feel like one small point that’s getting lost in all of this Padilla talk is that he sucks.
Hong-Chih Kuo – It’s so frustrating when you own a guy that should step into the closer role and he’s currently sucking. Well, that’s interesting for you to read. Moving on…
Eduardo Sanchez – I think Tony La Russa is building a case to get out of some kind of contractual obligation. A’la, “Yes, my client, Tony La Russa agreed to endorse Sbarro, but as he’s shown from his managing of the Cards bullpen, he doesn’t know what he’s doing from minute to minute.”
Fernando Salas – I see your closer committee and I raise you a closer clusterf**k.
Mark Melancon – I just read about him somewhere. Oh, I know. Scroll down to this morning’s post. It’ll help exercise your typee muscles.
Aneury Rodriguez – Because of Gallardo, Liriano and a host of other schmohawks, I’m actively looking at Aneury in more leagues than I’d like to admit.
Bud Norris – Don’t make me say something pithy, just pick him up already.
Brett Wallace – His face looks like he’s trying to gleek, but he is a current hot schmotato.
Matt LaPorta – Here’s a peek behind the curtain at Razzball HQ. I start the Buy/Sell on Monday and as the week goes on I add and remove players. LaPorta has been in three Buys on Monday and hasn’t made it to Friday staying hot. Not a great sign, but he is kinda hot now so do what you do.
Ian Stewart – It took over a year, but I think the fantasy community has finally given up on Stewart. So what better time for him to finally break out?! Yeah, that’s wishful thinking. If you lost one of the twenty-five 3rd basemen that are out injured or just suck (Pedro Alvarez, “I understand you are talking about me. I apologize sincerely. Now I wish to eat a piece of cake and strikeout.”), grab the one, the only Mini Mini Donkey.
Allen Craig – Out of curiosity, I went back and looked at what Pujols did his first month in the major leagues to see why La Russa ever even played him. Sure enough, Pujols hit .370 with 8 homers in April of 2001. Allen Craig, that is what you’re up against. Good luck!
Scott Sizemore – On the other hand, if you were to suit up your dachshund in a Tigers uniform, Leyland would probably bat him in the top of the order.
Clint Barmes – I picked him up in one league for the short schedule day yesterday and think I might run him out there for a few while Beckham (or Bartlett or Alcides or Nishioka) gets his act together.
Ben Revere – SAGNOF!
Matt Joyce – Still on fire from his last appearance in a Buy/Sell. But a word of warning, he’s nearing 50% owned in ESPN leagues, which means he’s about to bomb.
Angel Pagan – Not a huge fan, but he should get better and be owned in more leagues than he currently is.
Peter Bourjos – Sure taking a long time for people to pick this guy up. Don’t make me send his cousin Per Djoos after you.
Jason Bourgeois – Could probably steal 800 bases this year if he played every day. Okay, plus or minus 750.
Will Venable – More steals yadda3. Apropos of nothing, Max Venable, Will’s pop-pop, had a 12-year major league career and he has about as much on his Wikipedia page as I do. Someone fill out my man’s stub.

Alexi Ogando – Just went over how his xFIP is farting in his ERA’s general direction. Hint: It was yesterday’s afternoon post.
Placido Polanco – Probably will hit .400 just to spite me, but if you can trade him for a Brain Freeze or even a low-end Donkeycorn, I would, and I don’t usually trade for closers. BTW, I’d love to be sitting over the shoulder of someone who stumbles on this website for the first time. Donkeycorn? Brain Freeze? Hot schmotato? How are there 250 comments on every post at this site? Is this a cult? Razzball? How about Razz-what-the-eff-is-this-mustachioed-man-talking-about?
Russell Martin – I admit that I don’t think you can trade him for much, but I’d try. He was a hot April, not a hot beginning of a great season. Plus, The Great Gazoo is back.
Ben Zobrist – He’s the number one rated 2nd baseman according to ESPN’s Player Rater as of right now…Unfortunately, half of his stats came from one day. Remember it wasn’t that long ago that you were thinking about dropping him because as of April 22nd, he had a .183 average with 3 homers and 2 steals. Then the last week of April, he tripled just about all his stats. I wouldn’t trade him for Micah Hoffpauir’s fake ID, but I’d explore options.

Grey — In a 18-team roto league I need to open up a roster spot for streaming 2 or 3 starts a week so I don’t fall behind on innings (I’m in this bind because I can’t trade, drop or start Liriano and so I’m left with only four useable starting pitchers). I’ve tried a few 2-for-1 deals but so far, no bites. Here are my options for making that space:
–Dropping Slowey (he’s in the DL spot now, but Broxton was just moved to the DL and so I can use that spot for him)
–Drop David Murphy (I don’t seem to play him much, with Pence, JUpton, Bourjos, and Alex Gordon in the OF and Robot Jones and Smoak battling for the UTIL slot)
–Drop Robot Jones (he’s better on the road and they have a homestead coming up)
–Drop Liriano (Seems inappropriate in a deep league like this one)
–Do nothing: fall a little behind on innings but make it up later.
Which option would you prefer? Which is the second best?

I often find myself using Glossary terms in leagues where no one tunes in to RazzNation, and they, of course, have no idea what I am talking about.:

In my 6×6 league w/ OPS and K/9 is this a good trade for me — Alexei Ramirez + Torii Hunter FOR my Gio Gonzalez and Capps…guys pitching is really weak, and my WHIP is already dead last, feel like I’m def. winning here shedding Gio, and upgrading my SS which is bad with Andrus in an OPS league who will give me no power whatsoever, I don’t think I’d use Hunter much, but Capps is just a reliever and I got Melancon the other day.

@Paulie Allnuts: Nice analysis, but I don’t think it’s as bad as all that. As long as the Razzball glossary is prominently linked, the barrier to entry for Razzball is pretty low. It’s not like there are a ton of inside jokes that nobody would understand if they hadn’t been following the site for years.

Watching Volquez is painful. That guy clearly has no idea where the ball is going when it leaves his hand. Neither does the catcher and he is starting to get pissed.
This Volquez guy is not pitching, he is just throwing the ball at batters and his own catcher…terrible command

@Dat Dude: To be honest, i dont like Reds pitchers at all. Wood is the only guy i would like to have to start in favourable matchups. That ballpark scares me away, slightest mistakes result in HR and that makes pitchers think too much which usually leads to even more mistakes.

It’d be cool if there was something similar to the “league chat” function that CBS sports has on their live scoring page at the bottom of each post. Seems like a lot of us have started to watch the games (at least the day games) and post about what is going on. Could still use the comment function for direct questions about certain players, but have the “game chat” for people who just want to make points about the day in baseball…

Liriano’s next start in question?: The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Twins starter Francisco Liriano was sent back to the team hotel Friday in Boston when he showed up with a sore throat. Liriano, who is coming off Tuesday’s no-hitter, is expected to pitch Monday’s series finale in Boston pending how his bullpen session goes on Saturday.

The gist of it is that mini donkey is actually K’ing less, and this may impact his HR #’s because he may not be swinging for the fences like he was before. His avg should come up a bit to maybe .220 or so because his BABIP is low. Basically, author is saying that mini donkey may not have a good fantasy year.

I don’t know what to do, collectively my active lineup is at .220 for the year, i’m batting 152 for the week, and have only one week in which i batted over 225, the rest of the weeks i’m below 200. My frustration level has maxxed out. everyone i put in goes 0-4 every night. I scream at my computer screen nightly. 1. It always depends on what you can get as a return, but if you’re expecting the bottom to fall out on Lind, I wouldn’t count on it. He’s not a .300 hitter, but he’ll finish .280 with 25 HR, 90-100 RBI and 80-90 runs. He was exceptionally bad last year, so that wasn’t really him. Somewhere between 2009 and 2010 is a reasonable expectation. But those numbers I mentioned are hard to find.
2. I’d add Teheran for s’s and g’s. Could he blow up? Sure. So if you can afford that, then go for it. But he’s going to get sent down again afterward. In a non-keeper, I’d drop. And even in keepers I’d drop, depending on your parameters.

@bogbert: Barmes and Cab (whether its Asdrubal or Orlando) are trash. Hill, Fig, Sizemore all useful in that order.
@Eng: Thanks… I’m not convinced about Hill since his results have been far more trashy thus far this season than either Cab, which is why I thought about holding him in the DL spot for the time being (esp. as he’s not going to be stealing bases). Maybe I’ll go with one of the other two (Fig/Size) for now.

@bogbert: No probs bud. You certainly have good depth at MI. Go with Sizemore since he has the Grey endorsement, I have Hill and Sizemore myself. You’re right about Hill being restricted on the basepaths and off to a slow start. One thing I do believe is that AsCab has no chance of keeping the home runs coming, I’m really not a fan of his.
Grey, how long do you give Morneau? He’s dragging me down.
@Eng: I agree completely about AsCab; he was a temporary fill-in while Hill was on the DL, but as I mentioned above, I’m not sure I’m ready to take Hill off the DL yet. I’ll go with Sizemore for now.

What do you guys think about Bumgarner? He’s been pretty solid his last few starts. Available on my WW so I’m considering picking him up along with Peavy tonight. Drops would be Young and Bourgeios since they are heading to the DL.
@WDE05: yeah i like them and the dropping of young,for now anyway,but i love the speed and the fact that bourgeios is getting ab,s at 2nd,i wouldnt recomend nor does grey to start peavy the 1st time out,

Not sure if you saw, but Bourgeios is going on the DL. I only have 1 DL slot so I’m not sure if its worth holding him given that he’s not a lock to have a starting spot when he comes back in a few weeks.
@WDE05: yeah i know and ive had my 1 dl taken up by kendry in 2 of my leagues,plus he was on fire if he comes back and isnt so hot,then playing time might not be there

Gotcha, I’m going to dump him. Unfortunately, I just picked him up on Friday night so I only got 1 hit and a run out of him. My league has a moves cap of 65 so it really hurts to have wasted a move on him.
