I listened to Lisa Loeb’s “Stay” while considering the relevance of the Manny trade, then I thought, “Why on earth am I listening to Lisa Loeb?” Rather than viewing this trade like it’s the end of an era, Red Sox fans seem to be viewing this trade like it’s the end of an error. Sure, Manny was a handful, but he gave you a lot more than 500+ career home runs and career average over .310. He gave you something sorely missing in today’s game — flavor. The irony is the Sox got back a player who makes white bread seem like a bold choice for a sandwich. Am I the only one who sees the Red Sox and thinks, “Ellsbury, JD Drew, Bay, Youuuuuuk, Lowell, Beckett, Varitek… Did Jerry Remy suddenly become the only one besides Big Papi with any character?” It’s bad enough everywhere you turn it’s Subway, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Supercuts, Kinko’s, rinse and repeat. Now all our sports stars must be deviod of personality, too. What were you thinking as the seconds ticked down and it was official that you were the champions? First, I want to thank God. Without him, none of this is possible. Next, I wanna point out what a great job Coach did. He took us from last to first in three years. Next, I gotta point out what a great job all of my teammates did. They made me better. Finally, it’s thanks to these fans! You’re the best in the world! If that’s not bucking fullshit, I’ve never heard it. So when the Sox fans say good riddance to Manny, I say they’re all brainwashed by corporate America (and I lower cased corporate on purpose. As it should be.).

Since this is a fantasy baseball blog, first and foremost, I’ll go over the value changes for the Manny trade. Manny might get a slight hit on his value because he’ll no longer have The Green Mawnster to knock balls off of, but Manny’s a hitting savant and I expect him to make the proper adjustments. Also, this trade could be the kind of motivation Manny hasn’t had in almost four years. This does hurt a few other peripheral pieces in SoCal. Let’s do a basic math problem. If the Dodgers play 6 games a week and they have three outfielders, that means they have 18 possible outfield games. Now those 18 games need to be split between 5 outfielders (Ethier, Jones, Kemp, Pierre and Ramirez). So Manny and Kemp get 5 each, which means 10 outfield games. Now you have 8 outfield games to split up. I say Pierre and Jones get between 3 and 4, which relegates Ethier to 1 to 2 games per week. Drop Ethier. His (minimal) value has been zapped.

For Bay, let’s recollect what we saw last year while he battled through the worst slump of his career. Ground ball to short, ground ball to 2nd, ground ball to short and Bay falls into a mental slump where he’s fooled so bad he swings at some pitches while the ball is still in the pitcher’s hand. Bay will have a better lineup around him, he’ll have the The Green Monster to hit doubles off of and he’ll have the 2nd biggest media town breathing down his neck compared to Pittsburgh, which sports a town that forgot they had the Pirates for parts of ’07 into ’08. I hope Bay fails, but I’d say there’s only a 50/50 slot of it legitimately happening.

Now the two schmohawks that emerge from this trade with their value slightly knocked up (Hey, “slightly knocked up” sounds like that girl I went to high school with whose name I can’t remember) are Brandon Moss and Andy LaRoche. First, Laroche gets reunited with a guy who has the same parents. (BTW, Elias Sports Bureau said this is the first time two brothers with a capped letter in the middle of their last name will play together. Actually, Elias Sports Bureau didn’t say that, but it sounds like some nonsense they would say. Some things they have said recently around Elias Sports Bureau’s headquarters, “There’s no M & M’s in the snack machine for the first time since 1999,” “Leandro mowed our lawn on Tuesday for the first time since March,” and “Jimmy, in Accounting, has the worst halitosis of any Elias Sports Bureau employee ever.” But I digress.) So LaRoche only has to beat out Jose Bautista for playing time. Well, color me not worried. LaRoche hasn’t shown many signs in the majors, but he’s a top-level prospect that you should pick up in deep leagues.

Brandon Moss, the new Pirates outfielder, strikes me as the guy in a trade that no one cares about then ends up having lots of value. Or this could be complete hyperbole. Moss flashed some speed and power in the minors and never at the expense of his average. Now he’s not going to be an in-his-prime Bobby Abreu, but he profiles similarly to Andre Ethier. I know, yawn. But unlike Ethier, Moss may get his at-bats and in NL-only play that can help. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

Psyche! Before we get into today’s roundup, I just wanted to post Manny being Manny, make sure to watch until the 1:30 mark when Manny reenacts the play. If you don’t get a kick out of it, you’re dead on the inside.

The Rays – I knew they were stingy with their prospects, but I thought they would at least upgrade their bullpen. Nope.

Fausto Carmona – Bounced back from that razztastic start last time out against the Twins to throw 6 and 1/3 innings and to only give up 2 earned. Liked him a lot coming back from the DL and I think he can give you some quality starts moving forward.

Juan Rivera – HR yesterday. I’m pretty sure I’ve already said I’m never talking about him again. So this is your last heads up.

Jim Edmonds – 2 HRs. I almost yawned between writing the 2 and the HRs.

Rich Harden – 7 IP, 1 ER, 9 Ks. He’s given up three runs as a Cub and has K’d 39 in four starts. Well, la-di-da. This was still only his first win for the Cubs. So there.

Dave Bush – 7.1 IP, 6 ER. That whole ‘only starting Bush at home’ thing has worked out remarkably well. Almost as well as the whole ‘starting Craig Counsell over Russell Branyan’ thing, but not nearly as well as batting Braun fifth. Not sure why Yost wants to get fired, but he’s obviously managing like he does.

Frank Thomas – Was activated from the DL. If you need home runs, I’d take a flier, but don’t drop anyone too valuable because The Big Hurt is aptly named.

Jim Thome – HR yesterday. As I said yesterday when Griffey was traded, Thome’s going to get his at-bats.

Shane Victorino – I was talking to Rudy about how some people bench Victorino or use him as a throw-in in trades and Rudy said an interesting thing to me, “Is Victorino really that different than Carl Crawford?” Things to make you say, “Hmm…”

Chone Figgins – Went 4-for-5 yesterday and almost .400 in the last seven games. As I told someone yesterday, Figgins can get hot and steal a ton of bases in a month or two. Steals is one category you can make up ground real fast. Saves is another.

Ryan Zimmerman – Left yesterday’s game with a hand injury. This could be a great thing for his owners, you might no longer have to delude yourself into thinking he’s valuable.

Khalil Greene – Reports claim Greene decided to place himself on the Disgraceful List when he punched a storage chest and fractured his hand. However, witnesses say the storage chest was starting Greene at SS all season and by all accounts the storage chest actually threw itself at Greene’s hand. Either way, Greene should be dropped in all leagues, even ten team leagues that only use Padres players. (BTW, in a ten team league that only uses Padres players, I think you have to draft Adrian Gonzalez first. Peavy’s great, but you can get pitching late.)

Todd Jones – Speaking of the Disgraceful List, Todd Jones hits the DL. Reason given by the Tigers for this move, “Well… Dur.”

    The Sawx fan in me has to chime in on the Manny/Saxw fan entry. It is true he gave a lot to the fans and teammates. With many fans there is a combination of short term and long term memory loss, whichever works for the argument at the moment. Also, the increased attitude and comments with sporadic and decreased effort enaged the long term memory loss mechanism and justified the attitude. Now watch, Manny hits a couple of dingers and Bay slumps they will be lining up at the wailing wall and ripping their clothes (No, I am not Jewish, just live in CT the drivethru state exactly halfway between Boston and New York – you should hear the accent).
    At the end of the day Theo had to move him because with Manny’s personality and erratic performance this past month, which even Papi said it had become an issue of trust. Youk had already been bitch slapped for questioning Manny. Also, as the sox may become more Vanilla than the worst choice at a Baskin Robbins, realize that Manny was the last of the “Idiots” from ’04 that Theo and company inherited and they weren’t gonna fly with the crop of youngsters coming up.

    and as Sam Greavy shouted, ” ‘Nuff said.”

    Good post Grey but the clip should have been of the greatest sports blooper in history…The Cut-Off. We will never see a left fielder dive full out to cut-off a throw from a centerfielder the way Man-Ram did to Damon a few years ago. A “special” play from a “special” guy. And I don’t mean special in the exceptional way, but rather, the short bus way.

    Capps threw off the mound on Tuesday, is ahead of the rehab schedule, but not expected to be activated until Sept. 1st.

    My question – is it worth holding on to him in a DL spot for now. I have pretty much made the playoffs in my head-to-head league. But my main saves guy has been Papelbon. After trading away everyone else I’m left with BJ Ryan and to a lesser extent Kobayashi – not even sure how reliable he is these days.

    Is Capps going to come back during fantasy playoffs and grab 7-10 random saves, since the Pirates bullpen is… (well you know). Or will he just come back and kinda linger around – throwing 1 or 2 innings a week to keep up and get prepared for next year?

    Agree on what Rudy mentioned about Victorino. It’s exactly why I shipped Crawford off in a trade that netted me Holliday. Crawford is overrated while Victorino seems to be completely underrated. If Victorino’s power sticks with him the rest of the year he’ll probably end up a top 10 OF.

    The last time the Sox traded for a Canadian (Gagne), Boston destroyed him. I doubt this Canadian will fare any differently. I believe Bay is hitting under .225 with runners in scoring position, so it could get ugly fast.. Atleast I hope so.

    You make a good point.. My Red Sox friends would always brag about how exciting the Sox were, how many Dominicans were on the team.. Pedro, Orlando Cabrera, Manny, Ortiz, Tavarez, etc. and their fun attitudes.

    Now the Red Sox consist of the All-Star personalities of JD Drew, Jason Bay, and Mike Lowell.. How exciting. Ortiz must be thrilled.

    @BSA: Didn’t those idiots win a World Series? Also, I’m excited about watching the Dodgers for the first time ever.

    @knighttown: I love that clip too, but this one showed Manny at his best, solid defense and fun to watch, not his worst.

    @Denys: I wouldn’t bother with Capps. What’s he gonna get in September, 3 saves in 4 weeks? Eh.

    @Frank Rizzo: Yeah, I traded Crawford for Braun about a month and a half ago. So far:

    Braun — 62/202 31 14 39 7 .307
    Crawford — 50/188 25 4 22 8 .266

    @Scott S.: Yeah, exactly. Pedro, Tavarez, Ortiz and Manny were like the cream of the crop for fun to watch. Now they have the cream of the crap.

    @Grey: Yeah I here ya on the 04 Series yet look at the previous years’ moves. One by one the moves were made. Not saying it is right or wrong just what I have noticed.

    With that thought have fun watching him zoom around the outfield. He will be raking and sending some barbs against the Red Sox via the TV. The question is: What will Joe do with him when he doesn’t run out a grounder or pop up?

    What’s the consensus on Nady? Is he an everyday OF for the Yankees now or platooning with Damon/Cabrera?

    I noticed his offensive numbers have already spiked since joining the team.

    I just received an offer that I may accept….

    I give Atkins/McLouth

    I get Morneau/BJ Upton

    I could use Victorino as my full time CF and start Upton at 2nd. I currently have Pedroia at 2b but like the upside of Upton much more in the 2nd half. And Morneau/Atkins is close but I think I might like Morneau a little better at 1b.

    I’m looking to acquire Liriano from the owner who oh so patiently picked him up and held on to him for the last two months. Would Sherrill be too much to give? I have Rivera and Broxton, and could also pick up Fuentes since he was dropped recently for some reason (not sure why an ERA of 0, a WHIP of .2, and a K/BB of 19 merits a drop, but I guess its between him and the aggrieved ex-owner.)

  17. royce! says:

    as a Yankee fan I cannot tell you how happy I am that I do not have to watch Manny face Yankee pitching anymore. Thank god!! That guy has been killing us for years. I cant believe the redsox finally traded him. For the last 3 years there have been rumors about Manny being traded but nothing ever happened to my disgust. I think the redsox and Ortiz especially are really gonna feel his loss, the guy is a hitting machine and I am very happy to see him off that team. Goodbye Manny!! PEACE!!!!

    @royce!: You should pick up Fuentes and I would trade Sherrill for Liriano.

    @wakeNbake: @Steve: Ugh. I’d just let the Pirates situation go unless you are that dire for saves. If anything, I’d consider picking up Guardado since Wilson has been so bad.

    @wakeNbake: I wouldn’t trade Tulo for Wood. Trade Tulo for a healthy closer.

    I was actually at Dodger Stadium this afternoon using some ticket vouchers and while I was in line all the TV news trucks pulled up. I figured that since they had the batting practice cages set up Manny was gonna hit a couple balls, which would have been pretty sweet to see. Then I calculated the chances of Manny actually showing up on schedule and went my merry way.

  27. Scott S. says:

    The press conference was classic.

    Manny will be sporting #99.. L.A. is the perfect place for him, big market and the fans aren’t psycho-paths like Bostonians. They’ve already fallen in love with him, I think he’ll step it up in the final 2 months and hopefully get the Dodgers into the playoffs over the D-Backs.

    The best question asked to Manny at the press conference..

    “Are you disappointed you didn’t get traded for Brett Favre?”

  28. royce! says:

    @ Grey:

    I would like to pick up Fuentes but don’t know who to drop. My options are Sherrill, Ubaldo Jimenez, Broxton, Scott Baker, Mark Buehrle, and Fausto Carmona. I’m thinking Buehrle. No one in my league would touch him after his last start. Concur?

    Wandy was just dropped in my league.
    My SP is Billingsley, Cueto, Harang, Harden, and Liriano.

    My bench has Chris Davis, Jeff Baker, and Pence.

    Wandy worth an add/drop?

  34. BSA says:
    (link)

    @Grey: Unlike the rotisserie or daily change teams I play a regular 12 with utility player. So basically my bench is just people who I want when hot or to cover an injury. I know wasted typing to explain that.

    So Jeff Baker, Davis, and Pence are merely backing up or replacing a cold bat.
    My lineup is currently:
    Iannetta, Fielder, Utley, Tulo, Wright, Grandy, Markakis, Ankiel, with Alexei Ramirez at utility.

    With this format you would move Baker for Wandy I am assuming from the question?

    Latest from some of the behind the scenes of Manny Trade from Gorden Edes (Globe Writer)

    Of all the Manny moments in Boston, the last ranks as one of the most confounding. Within an hour after Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein informed Manny Ramírez he had been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday, Ramírez’s agent, Scott Boras, called the Sox back, according to a source with direct knowledge of the negotiations. If the Sox dropped the option years on his contract — which they had agreed to do if they traded him — Boras said Ramírez would not be a problem the rest of the season.

    The guy in third offers me (the guy in second) his Rich Harden and Matt Holliday for my Tim Lincecum and Alex Rios. We’re both assured of being in the playoffs, so it’s really just about how each of them will do in September. Lincecum only faces NL West teams, but would the Giants still be using him if they’re clearly out of the race? Giving up speed and some resurgent power from Alexis doesn’t bother me because Holliday looks to be staying put, and most of his games In September are in Coors where he absolutely rakes.

    My current staff is Lincecum, Beckett, Burnett, Lilly, Cain, Harang, spot starter.

    Thoughts?

    I guess things to keep in mind is that this is a keeper league but I’m not sure if I would keep Atkins or not. We keep 6 and my other possible keepers are Tex, Rollins, Braun, BJ Upton, Markakis, Billingsley, Felix. I could also throw Upton into the deal instead of Atkins. What do ya think?

  45. Freak says:
    (link)

    @Steve: I know you addressed this at Grey, but I don’t care. Hairston has a slightly lower steal rate than Michael Bourn (granted, it’s been in half the at-bats). His batting average is worth making babies with. He’s finally slotted into an everyday role with Griffey gone. His OBP is almost .400! And with Bruce Almighty and Mr. Country Strong behind him, he will score gobs of runs. Everything is screaming, “Yes! YES! OH GOD, YES!” Play him. Love him. Caress him. He will always be true to you.

    @drizzle21: I like that deal for you a lot. Harden has been lights out since arriving in Chitown, and although he carries an injury risk, Lincecum may also get shut down early. Plus you get a huge OF upgrade, you gotta do it.

    Another reason to pickup Ziegler……

    A’s manager Bob Geren said he still views Huston Street as his closer, but he’ll likely use him in other situations as well.

    Street hasn’t been the best pitcher in Oakland’s pen really at any point this season, and he’s blown two of his last three save chances, leaving him 18-for-23 on the season. Still, there isn’t much to be gained from removing him from the closer’s role. It will be worth using him more frequently in tie games with the A’s not supplying him with a lot of late leads. If that begins to happen, then Brad Ziegler and Alan Embree could pick up the odd save chance.

  57. BigFatHippo says:
    (link)

    @Mike, Grey

    You think Ziegler will keep it up?

    I’m considering dropping Hanrahan for him, don’t need the saves that bad.

    His ERA and Whip would help, but will he pitch enough innings to matter?

  58. Mike says:
    (link)

    @BigFatHippo: I think he will…. his sidearm delivery seems to be fooling guys enough. I read somewhere he hasnt given up a HR in something like 100 plus innings going back to the minors so he definetely is doing something right.

    Take a break man, go drink a couple Jaegerbombs and puke in your mouth.

    Trade deadline over, you deserve it.

    Don’t think I can trade Hanrahan but I’ll try. They quit trading with me after the Morneau deal.

    Ludwick just hit it into Big Mac Land by the way. Amazing.

  64. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @BigFatHippo: Ludwick has exceeded my expectations. I was too deep at corner and I traded Youuuuuk on a fluuuuke for Ludwick and he’s blown him away in value.

    re: Hanrahan — I’d trade a different reliever then keep Hanrahan.

  65. BigFatHippo says:
    (link)

    @Grey

    Yeah he’s been solid all year, the epitome of the Cardinal’s season.

    Exceeding all expectations, don’t count em out.

    What about Ianetta and Broxton (or Rodney) for Mauer?

    He needs saves and can take 3rd place if he gets enough.

  66. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @BigFatHippo: I’d prefer Iannetta, but if you need what Mauer gives you (average/runs), then Iannetta/Rodney is a good trade for Mauer. That’s how you should be using a closer in a trade. BTW, you have Rodney and you’re thinking about dropping Hanrahan? Eh, Rodney’s pretty much a mess right now.

  67. BigFatHippo says:
    (link)

    @Grey

    I don’t think Iannetta/Rodney/ or Hanrahan is enough to get Mauer. The guy’s pretty savvy. Mauer will def help my avg and OBP.

    What’s Hanrahan gonna get, 5 saves from here on out? Rodney may blow the closer job so that leaves me with……..

    Iannetta/Broxton for Mauer.

    I have K-Rod, so not worried about saves. What you think?

  68. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @BigFatHippo: I don’t like Iannetta/Broxton for Mauer. Hanrahan and Rodney aren’t racking up the saves right now, but saves come in bunches so you never know, I wouldn’t drop either out right.

  69. Wes says:
    (link)

    Any chance Rodney can get 10-15 saves to end the year? Or do you see Farnsworth or another (Zumaya?) stepping in and getting it done?

  70. BigFatHippo says:
    (link)

    @Grey

    You’re probably right, like always.

    Iannetta may be a keeper anyway, 5$ catcher next year. Those guys are hard to find.

    I’ll stand pat, think my teams good enough to hold on.

  71. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @Wes: I’d say Rodney’s probably in the bottom three for all major league closers right now (with Yates and Hanrahan). He needs to put it together quickfast before Farnsworth and Zumaya do get an opportunity. Right now, I own Farnsworth on three teams; I figure he’s moving in sooner rather than later — at least for an opportunity.

  72. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @BigFatHippo: Yes, I think you should hold pat for now.

  73. Baron Von Vulturewins says:
    (link)

    Just picked Bruce back up.

    Two nights, two donks. And he’s hitting third.

    It’s good to be home.

  74. Wes says:
    (link)

    It’s a 20 team league I’m in and I had Jones, so I was kind of forced into Rodney when they made the move. I guess I’ll keep tabs and see if Farnsworth steps in.

  75. RT says:
    (link)

    @Baron Von Vulturewins:
    Traded Bruce for Pierre. A game before the 2 donks. Sheesh.

  76. RT says:
    (link)

    Which would you prefer? Right column is what I get in both cases.

    Chipper for Ian Stewart/Peralta

    or

    Pierre/Hanrahan for Tejada

    I’ve basically had no SS all season and Hairston looks to be hurt again. I have Davis at 1B, Atkins at 3rd and no back up… In an 18 team league there is (basically) nothing on the FA/WW

  77. BSA says:
    (link)

    Grey – doesn’t take Manny long to open his mouth huh?
    Thursday 4:20 pm EST Manny traded to LA
    5:30 pm EST – asks management to stop the trade
    Friday night game – single and hits into DP, dogs it in left
    Saturday pre-game – “I want to finish my career in LA”

    Both coasts – Bay hits a three run dong
    Manny hits a two run dong

  78. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @RT: That Bruce trade is fine. As long as you need steals.

    Tejada, but I guess you don’t need steals?

    @BSA: He talks complete nonsense or motivated by Boras as a negotiation ploy.

  79. RT says:
    (link)

    @Grey:
    I actually do need steals… But I now also need a SS with Hairston is down. I was thinking of rolling with a guy like Lowrie in Boston and keep Chipper and Pierre.

  80. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @RT: That sounds like a solid idea.

  81. RT says:
    (link)

    @Grey:
    Thought so. Thanks mate.

  82. Baron Von Vulturewins says:
    (link)

    Give: Hamels/Hardy/CDavis

    get: Fielder/Jerry Hairston

  83. Nick says:
    (link)

    what are you doing with Greinke today Grey? I think I’m going to bench him because I have Zambrano going too

  84. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @Baron Von Vulturewins: I don’t mind it, but Hairston’s hurt again and it might be a recurring injury. Is this the league where you need HRs? I could see going for it.

    @Nick: I’m letting him go for me but I could see sitting him depending on where you are in the standings.

  85. Mike says:
    (link)

    I read on rotoworld Wagner is going to have an MRI on his shoulder….. would it be Duaner SAnchez or Helman to close if he goes on DL?

  86. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @Mike: I’d go Heilman then Sanchez.

  87. Mike says:
    (link)

    I also read that Manuel said they could use Eddie Kuniz to close…. never heard of that guy

  88. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @Mike: Yeah, I should’ve said there’s a chance of either or with a possibility of Kunz.

  89. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @Mike: BTW, he’s the Mets minor league closer.

  90. Mike says:
    (link)

    oh ok, also somebody dropped Aaron Cook in my league. I kinda like Aaron Cook and am thinking about dropping Clay Buchholz for him.

  91. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @Mike: I would make that drop/pickup.

  92. BigFatHippo says:
    (link)

    @Grey

    Hanrahan looks like a Closer now.

    1 IP, 1 HR, 9.00 ERA, 1 Save

  93. wakeNbake says:
    (link)

    @Grey: How would you rank Parra, Nolasco and Ubaldo against each other??

  94. Steve says:
    (link)

    @Grey: Nady obviously went crazy today, but who do you like better out of him and Willingham?

    I have Juan Rivera at LF and while he obviously has power, the guy seemingly can’t take a walk (at least not this week!) and that hurts in an OBP league.

    Would you drop him for Nady or Willingham?

  95. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @BigFatHippo: Well, I figured he was the closer, but remember Rauch only got 17 saves in over half a season.

    @wakeNbake: Parra, Nolasco, Ubaldo

    @Steve: I’d grab Nady right now.

  96. Baron Von Vulturewins says:
    (link)

    @Grey: Can we please just take Fernando Rodney out behind the barn and shoot him?

  97. BigFatHippo says:
    (link)

    @Baron Von Vulturewins:

    Leland should demote Rodney to Piss Boy.

    Leland, “You look like the piss boy.”

    Rodney, “and you look like a bucket of shit.”

    Farnsworth can join him out behind the barn.

    League mate offered Zambrano for Kemp. My initial response is negative, but should I consider it?

    Also, I want to rid myself of Sheets. I’ve narrowed down possible trades for Cory Hart, Chone Figgins, or Conor Jackson. My needs for steals and power are about equal. How would you all rank them?

  99. royce! says:
    (link)

    @Grey: I have Kemp. The league mate wants him. My initial response is negative b/c Kemp has been brilliant lately, and with Manny usually batting behind him, I assume his Rs will skyrocket as well.

    My SP right now is Sheets, Lackey, Peavy, Baker, Jimenez, Carmona, Lester, Verlander and Harang (DL).

    If I were to trade Kemp I would try to replace him w/ CoJack or Chone, whom I would hopefully get for Sheets.

  100. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @royce!: Gotcha, misread the question. Honestly, I could go either way with Z and Kemp trade. Really about needs. You don’t seem like you have a need for Z.

  101. royce! says:
    (link)

    @Grey: Yeah, I think you’re right about that. Even if I get rid of Sheets I’ll have 5 solid SP options. Thanks for talking me down.

  102. Baron Von Vulturewins says:
    (link)

    @Grey: I’ll contact the Amish.

  103. BigFatHippo says:
    (link)

    @Grey:

    Ludwick goes deep, deep, deep again.

    Are you starting to think what I’m thinking?

    Should I play him over Magglio?

  104. BigFatHippo says:
    (link)

    @Grey:

    No, I’m spot starting all outfielders depending on matchups.

    Right now, he’s in because Torii wasn’t there.

    My OF: Sizemore, Maggs, Dye, Hunter, Ludwick, Taveras.

    Good problem to have, haven’t missed on many of the matchups either. Although I can’t get steals out of fast Willie since he rides my pine every day.

  105. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @BigFatHippo: I think he’s starting over Willy unless you really need steals, then he’s starting over Maggs for the time being. I’d look to trade one of them, preferably Willy for a part you need.

  106. BigFatHippo says:
    (link)

    @Grey:

    Don’t need the steals, but don’t want the guys behind me fighting for 3rd to have them either. They’ll take pts away from me.

    What do you think about flipping Ludwick to another Cardinal fan for Halliday?

    My ERA has taken a beating over the last month with Hamels and the closers I have, just dropped Rodney and picked up Zeigler because of it.

    The 2nd place guy went for 13 R, 3 HR, 11 RBI, 3 SB today and closed to within 7 pts.

    Panick time?

  107. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @BigFatHippo: If you can flip Ludwick for Halladay, I’d do that in a second.

    No, I wouldn’t panic.

  108. Denys says:
    (link)

    Why does Joe Morgan always look so high?

  109. Grey

    Grey says:
    (link)

    @Denys: Cause he smokes reefer before each game.

  110. BigFatHippo says:
    (link)

    @Grey:

    Just tried Magglio for Halliday.

    We’ll see if he bites, Ludwick would be a $5.00 keeper for me next year.

    Think I can afford to give up Maggs.

    Not in panic mode yet, but he’s gettin too close for comfort. Fricken Davis and Aviles jump started him. Not to mention Jobba.

  111. BigFatHippo says:
    (link)

    @Grey:

    HA

    So does Adam Jones.

  112. Baron Von Vulturewins says:
    (link)

    @Grey: Yeah, those bastards never return my phone messages. Or my emails.

  113. RT says:
    (link)

    Davis is hitting righties and lefties. So why is he batting 7th? Or 8th? Or whatever the hell he is batting.

    11th donk tonight bay-beeeeee
