Turns out there is a 50/50 shot that I’ve hit on Grey’s mom in Whole Foods. I would raise those odds to like a 90% chance if she likes wearing yoga pants. What can I say? I’m a sucker for yoga pants. If you haven’t figured it out yet, Grey and I found out this weekend that Grey’s mom and I live in the same area and shop at the same supermarkets! We also found out that JB doesn’t have to be the host in order to get sucked into a Brewers vortex for the first 20 minutes of the show, as talking about Lewis Brinson bled right into Domingo Santana, which bled into Orlando Arcia. We finally do move on, and get to such luminaries as Aaron Judge, Jeff Hoffman, Brad Peacock, Aaron Hicks, Corey Seager, and many more. I then congratulate “nightpandas” on his Razzball Only FantasyDraft Contest victory last week. It’s the latest edition of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast:

Awesome stuff, guys. Wish I had a Razzball podcast to listen to every day at work!

@mikeMaher: thanks, mike! Much appreciated. Maybe one day …

  2. Dave Weinnstein says:

What do you think of Rhys Hoskins? He seems super blocked but is crushing it the last 2 seasons. What do you think of his upside?

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Dave Weinnstein: I like Hoskins a lot and think his upside is one of the better hitting 1B in baseball. Of course, right handed hitting 1B only guys don’t exactly have the greatest track record, but Hoskins’ history of success in the minors is impossible to ignore. I think eventually they have to just call him up and start giving him some of Joseph’s at bats to see if Hoskins is better. Joseph is at .257/.306/.455, which really isn’t all that great for a first baseman. A lot of teams have 1B bats on their bench or in the minors that could do what Joseph is doing.

  3. Yager says:

Is Kepler a drop in 20 team mixed for EY Jr? I need steals and would have Gardner, Benintendi,

    • Yager says:
      (link)

@Yager: Schebler, and Pham. Thoughts? Thanks!

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Yager: I think I would hold on Kepler in a 20 teamer. Trout could also be back shortly after the all star break, so Young’s playing time could be iffy the last couple months of the season. If you need steals, it wouldn’t be the worst decision in the world, it could just put you in hole down the line.

Halp grood stuff on the podcast. Thanks!
Question: Good Starting pitchers are very scarce in my 12 team 10×10 fantasy league. Would you claim JAHaap off waivers and drop Matt Bush? For RP I have Herrera, Knebel and Bush and SP I have Verlander, McCullers,Hendricks, Leake, Nelson, Paxton and Hoffman. Injuries and ineffectiveness are certainly concerns.

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Tony C: Thanks, Tony! Nah, I don’t think Bush is droppable in that league. Your staff is interesting and can definitely use help though. I think at some point you have to make a choice on one of the starters. Hoffman vs. Happ is close for me, and probably lean Happ, but Hoffman has been so hot it is tough to drop him. I don’t think Bush should be dropped though.

  5. Tony C says:
    (link)

I could drop Bour instead for Happ since there are a few other good 1b available in my league if I need to add one later. So Bour or Happ?

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Tony C: I would probably stick with Bour, but if you think based on your league you could get away with it, I could see doing it.

  6. Yo! Where dat fantasydraft link at?!

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Hugman: Sorry, Hugman. No Razzball contest this week

      • @Halp: Guess I’ll just have to go throw five dollars in the street then.

          Halp says:

          @Hugman: hahah

Am I the only one who cannot get the Podcast to play?

      • LenFuego says:

@Halp: That link works for me … thanks.

@LenFuego: fwiw it wouldn’t work for me either , first time it hasn’t worked for me

      • Halp

        Halp says:
        (link)

@Slappy Jack: Don’t think I did anything different this time than any other time, so it might be something on their end. Were you trying to listen through iTunes, or just straight off Razzball?

        • Slappy Jack says:
          (link)

          @Halp: just straight off razzball

          • Halp

            Halp says:
            (link)

@Slappy Jack: Yea, sometimes it just takes a really long time for me or doesn’t play for whatever reason too. Not sure the reason but doesn’t seem to be a long term thing, at least not for me.

  8. Dee says:
    (link)

I didn’t hear anything about comforto. What was said?

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Dee: My bad, I planned to talk about him and probably never got to it on the podcast and then included his name in the write up by accident. I believe Grey advised to look to sell high on him if you could find a good deal in a post last week.

  9. Saints says:
    (link)

Hay Halp i have a dynasty Trade question. Im in a playoff race and want to upgrade my SP. I like to give up some young SP for that.
My Sp I consider to trade are
    Kevin Gausmann
    Jharel Cotton
    Nick Tropeano
    Cody Reed (CIN)

SP i try to target are:
    Marco Estrada
    Ivan Nova
    J.A. Happ

How would you rank those guys and what trades do you think make sense ?

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Saints: Sure, I think that can make sense. All of the guys you listed are expendable. I would rank them Estrada, Nova, and then Happ, although Happ and Nova are tight.

  10. Richard Davis says:
    (link)

Now that Brenden McKay has been drafted as a FIRST Baseman, instead of as a pitcher, is he all of a sudden ONE of, if not the BEST 1B prospect in Fantasy? I have 2 Top 10 draft picks in my First Year Player draft for Next Season, and really need a long term answer at 1B. Just nervous that McKay could still end up being a Pitcher, or Jake Bauers blocks him at 1B. Really regretting I didn’t pull the trigger on a trade for Bellinger at the start of the season, giving up BOTH my picks. Thanks

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Richard Davis: I think the word is that Tampa is going to keep him as a two way player and keep their options open, although the rumors before the draft were that they preferred him as a hitter. Assuming he is 100% going to be hitter, he probably slots as a top 5 first baseman. Still would prefer Hoskins and Dom Smith off the top my head.

      • Richard Davis says:
        (link)

Thanks for the reply. Guess we will just wait and see. Hopefully know more in February for my draft. Thanks again

I have 2 prospects spots to use in dynasty league in yahoo – alot of prospects are already owned – I must use both picks during this season

I have number 2 pick and number 5 pick

8:40am: The Astros are calling up top outfield prospect Derek Fisher

So how bad would be using my number 5 spot on Fisher

    • mrbaseball says:
      (link)

At his point do you think any of the solid pitching prospects will get the call

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@mrbaseball: Not bad at all. I’ve been a huge Fisher fan for 2 years now and he is the type of power speed combo that is great in fantasy especially. There is no guarantee on his playing time though. Pitching prospects are much tougher because even the top guys don’t necessarily perform better than the Faria’s of the world. Luke Weaver is one who we will probably see this year.
